Hello, I moved Thunderbird data to a new computer according to your instructions via a USB drive On the target computer everything goes well until point 9 of your instructions. "Choose to replace your current data when prompted." However, this screen does not appear. I open Thunderbird, but then only the screen to enter the email data appears. So Thunderbird does not open with complete data. What do I do? I'm wrong.

      • After messing with it for about 8 hours I got it resolved*** I'm moving thunderbird to a new computer. So far I've created a new profile on a the new computer's G: drive and the program is also installed in a different folder on the G: Drive. (I'm planning to have two copies of Thunderbird on the computer). The other copy for different mailboxes will be on the C: Drive. I copied the profile from the old computer to the new computer's G: Drive in a separate location. When I open Thunderbird it lists all my email accounts in the moved profile but when I go into the inboxes they are all blank. I noticed if I left click on the inbox and go to properties it's showing the inbox location as the F: drive (which is where it was on the old computer) for example mailbox:///F:/Thunderbird/Profiles/......... I don't see a way to edit the inbox location. How can I change that so it's looking for the mailboxes on the G: Drive instead of the F: Drive? The path is also a little different between the two computers. The old computer was: F:/Thunderbird/Profiles/........ and the new computer is G:/Thunderbird Data/Profiles/.........

Also I don't know if this makes any difference...On the old computer a 32 bit version of Thunderbird was running even though it is a 64 bit computer. The new computer is running the 64 bit version. They are both updated to the latest Thunderbird release.

Thanks

Hi Just currently reinstalling windows and trying to import my old thunderbird files. i've exported the whole profile into a 12Gb zip but for some reason i cant extract it without errors. I've tried the latest winzip 28, beezip and 7zip and can only extract 4gb. 7zip listed these errors. screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/y4YjtYi

Are there any other apps i can use to extract this? thanks Z

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to import an outlook pst file?

I tried Local folders/Import/Import from Outlook, but Thunderbird says "No profile found".

I have set up a mozilla profile. Where to insert account details in a way Thuderbird recognises me and allows me to import outlook files - I would like to see my e-mails in Thunderbird, which I have previously received and sent off with Outlook.

Thank you all for your help in advance!

Have a wonderful year 2024!

Best, Farkas

I am replacing my old PC with a Mac that is running Sonoma. I’m a new Mac user so this is brand new to me. I have moved my Tbird profile from one PC to another. But moving to a Mac is brand new to me.

I have no idea where a Mac stores files or how to download to the right place.

Would you please walk me through, step by step, how to download my Tbird profile from my PC to my Mac so I will have all of my old email?

I have been using Tbird for decades and do not want to lose that email in my move to Mac.

Many many thanks in advance for your support.

This am my Windows 11 pc had restarted, as it did yesterday also. No icon for Firefox, got a message saying Windows could not access something. Looked for FF in my apps, not there, so downloaded it, now working. Then clicked my Thunderbird icon in the tray and got a virtually blank screen that I have never seen, nothing from my account, no menus, just Thunderbird blurb on the right side and a big Donate button. Looked for TB in my apps, not there, so downloaded it, still as above. PLEASE HELP> I am NOT someone who can go into files etc etc and am desperate to get my TB back again. Many thanks, Gillian

problems Migrating Thunderbird 115 messages and folders from PC Windows 10 to Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.2

Hi,

I've tried migrating Thunderbird data and folder structure from a Windows 10 PC to a new Mac Sonoma 14.1.2 following the instructions from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer and encountered problems.

I copied the Thunderbird folder from the PC onto a USB drive and then moved the file to the Library folder on the Mac.

Importing seemed to go well, but when I opened Thunderbird on the Mac only the inbox (and its messages) were there. All other folders and their contents were missing.

What did I do wrong and what do I need to do to migrate all folders/sub folders and their data?

Thanks, Richard

Is there anyone "out there" with recent experience with S/MIME Entrust? I've migrated to a new laptop and imported my certificate. I've had people with whom I exchange encrypted emails on "old" laptop send me digitally signed emails, but I cannot get their certificates. Since Entrust has outsourced this product to a German company, I find they are not particularly helpful in this area. Can anyone step me through verifying steps and troubleshooting? Thank you

Hello,

I have several email accounts stored on a different internal hard drive, when I say stored I mean choosing a different location in the thunderbird account settings for each email to store the mail boxes, filter rules etc.

I sent my machine back in for repairs and long story short the OS drive ended up being wiped. From what I've seen, in order to import the email profiles which seem to be stored on the OS under approaming or something similar.

I'm struggling to find a way to import my existing accounts with what I have on my other drive. Any ideas on how I might be able to do this?

I would like to wipe all traces of my Thunderbird installation off my computer--profiles, etc.--and start all over. I have tried deleting the Thunderbird "Profiles" folder, downloading T-bird anew, and installing it afresh. It will not start; I get the error message "missing profile." But THAT WAS THE POINT. I don't want to use the old profile or retrieve any of my old emails. I wasn't born with that profile, but now it's the only one Thunderbird will allow me to use.

How do I start from scratch, as if I had never installed T-bird before?

Thanks,

 GAS
