I have set up several folders and subfolders, with auto filtering in my Thunderbird. When a new mail goes to a subfolder that is nested in two or more folders, the display for new message on the side does not appear. For Example: "Grantparent Folder" (1 new mail)

     |-> "Parent Folder" (doesnt display the new mail is here)
            |-> "Child Folder" (displays there is a mail here after i open up the Parent folder)

This is a problem because there a several Parent folders and I have to open up each one of the in order to find in which Child Folder the mail went to.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

See the subject. I just set up new contacts and want to show only their name as recipient of emails. However, when I do a test email, the recipient's email address continues to show up with their name when sent. This really sucks. Why won't it accept my settings?

Running Thunderbird 115.4.3 (64-bit). I can't locate the setup and settings for my printer(s); that is, I cannot select the printer, specify single- or double-sided printing, print quality, etc. Under the Config Editor, I can see more than a dozen settings for my default HP Inkjet printer, but Thunderbird must have set all this up for me; I have no idea what most of the listings pertain to, and no other printer, like my PDF printer, show up there. I'm used to a Print Preview screen where the printer and its parameters can be set, but when I do a Ctrl+P, Thunderbird takes off and starts printing immediately on the default HP printer. Can someone give me a clue? Thanks.

I have update few weeks ago to the new version and the layout in the message body is kind of big! like the pictures that come in they are big. How do i make them smaller view? See attached picture.

The new update is a disaster and almost unusable. The biggest problem I have with it is that the Message pane is now reduced to a size that is uncomfortably small. This could be ameliorated if the Message List pane could be shortened, as in previous versions. The current pane cannot be reduced to less than 8 messages in the list, previous versions allowed for far fewer.

Yes, there are several options available to change the layout, but they all have even greater issues.

PLEASE CHANGE THE MESSAGE LIST PANE FORMAT SO THAT IT CAN BE REDUCED TO DISPLAY A SMALLER NUMBER THAN 8 MESSAGES!!!

I want for my email to come in according to who it is from and the FROM option seems to be grayed out and not accessible to me. How do I change/access this option? Please advise. Thank you.

The folder pane, message list pane, and message pane are separated by lines 1 pixel wide. Is there a way to make the lines thicker, perhaps editing the chrome/userChrome.css file?

The new software update bunches related emails together and shows them as one (with a > next to it). For example, the original message and three responses take up one line in the message Inbox. How can I untangle it so each message would show up as one line and not be bunched any more (like the old days!)

When I compose an email, I can change my text colour. However, as a test I send to myself, and the text arrives in the in box in black font only. I have received emails from others,where they have indicated for example, see green notes. However there is no green text? So it looks like when I receive any emails, that have any colour included in the text, I only see all text in black?

Thunderbird used to show an icon "send new mail" but the icon has disappeared and I cannot figure out how to get it back. Help!

how do I set up an outgoing mail filter in Thunderbird that is applied before the email is actually sent?

I'm using this to automatically add (varying) Cc/Bcc recipients to the email before sending, depending on the mail account used for sending and the recipient's mail address/domain, change the To address based on some condition, or switch to a different From address based e.g. on contents.

As I understand it, TB allows me to apply filters automatically on a mail only after it has already been sent, which for my use cases is too late.

Any ideas? Is there a plugin that does this?

Cannot find how to make my list of messages appear like they do in outlook. There is a screen shot on Thunderbird home page that it appears it can be done. See attached.

This is probably quite simple but I can't figure out how (possibly not familiar with the correct terminology)

The problem is incoming emails are getting put into threads whereas I would like them to be all separate (as they always were until recently) When grouped in this way they can't be sorted into the correct sequence by date or correspondent. And that makes it difficult to trace old emails to decide whether to delete or retain them.

What I am seeking is a way to keep all emails in the Inbox separate when they are received (and similarly with sent ones in the "sent" folder) and/or A way to separate out emails which have already grouped into threads

Hello, In the latest THUNDERBIRD, I cannot sort incoming emails into unread because the program shows a cascade of the first thread to the last one, and I want to see only the last unread message from a given thread, as in the old program. how to turn it off?

In Thunderbird 115.5.0 (64-bit) when you have collapsed threads enabled I have seen the software indicate there are say 8 unread messages. There are no bolded messages in the message panel. If you click on the READ status column you still can not see the unread messages. The only way is to uncollapse the threads and scroll down the message pane to see the bolded messages in each thread. Why?

If the threads are collapsed how are we supposed to find unread messages?

How can I change the order of tags in Thunderbird. I want to add a new tag but when I do it's being added before the last so this changes the shortcut of my following tag while assigning to this new tag the shortcut of the previous tag.

Is there a way to just change the order of tags without messing up the tags already applied to my messages? The answers I found for this didn't work for me. Such a simple thing... At least if the new tag was added at the end of the list that would work for me but it's being added before the last. Humm...
