I have stayed on an old version of TB because of the old extensions that made it a much better product.

With the installation of Win 11 I decided to try the latest version of TB. I have to say I am not impressed. I forgot how much better TB was with the extensions.

My first question is how do I get to sort the order of items I see in TB? I want News & Feeds to be displayed above my email accounts. It would seem that this would be easy but I cannot find a way of doing it. What am I not understanding? Surely this should be simple? I want to choose the order of everything.

I also customised the interface with better scrollbars etc. None of the add-ons I used to use seem to work with the latest TB. At the moment the new install of TB is incredibily ugly. How do I change that?

Does "Apply columns" work in Tbird 115.12.2 (64-bit)?

I searched 'Thunderbird Solutions' for "Apply columns", then read several of the 156 results, and read the Help Article "Message List Columns" ... but the results were [imo] not encouraging :-(

Does "Apply columns to" really work as described in Help Article "Message List Columns" ?

Is "Apply columns" a known flakey feature ??

Have I got a corrupted profile ???

I was able to change some of my message pane background by adding the following to the userContent.css file:

Why do I still get these two dark gray areas (see attached)? What css do I need to add to get them to be the lighter grey?

I have a Thunderbird on my laptop with a big folder in the Local Folder. It has a labeled "mail window" having 5,044 messages in a folder named under the internals of the Profile as "Family" and "Family.msf". Under "Family" are at the next level called "Archive-A" and "Archive-A.msf". (This may not be a kosher "archive".) I tried to use NanaZip to prepare as a zip by Exporting it the other laptop's Thunderbird in our house, but the process seemed to hang before that could do it. Maybe there had to be two levels, I dunno. Maybe getting from a .ZIP to a .SBD....

Even if that had resulted in a useful .ZIP, I'm not at all clear how I could I succeed in importing it into the main profile on the other TB computer. I am defeated at this point.

I wish I had a "Thunderbird for Dummies", or at least a manual + a lexicon with acronyms.

Could someone help me out?

I have been using Thunderbird since the demise of Eudora. My configuration file is messed up and I would like to clean it up without losing everything. I have many accounts on different platforms. My unified inbox no longer works. It was working for my gmail accounts, but now nothing shows up in it. When looking through some accounts, there were multiple copies of emails in the archive file, and I never put them there.

Is there some way to preserve things like signature files and personalities and sever configurations, and set up thunderbird like a new install preserving the above and my contacts? It is a real mess now. I think there are multiple configuration files and I would like to delete some of them, but am afraid to.

I use Thunderbird for all my emails. With gmail accounts, Thunderbird has an 'all mail' folder but that folder doesn't exist for my yahoo mail accounts.

Is there any way to create an 'all mail' folder (or functionality) with Thunderbird/Yahoo ?

I would like to know what the options below, contained in the settings editor, are for and how I can adjust them so that every message sent is configured to require confirmation of receipt by default:

mail.identity.default.request_receipt_header_type mail.identity.default.request_return_receipt_on mail.incorporate.return_receipt mail.receipt.request_header_type mail.receipt.request_return_receipt_on mail.request.return_receipt mail.server.default.incorporate_return_receipt

Basically, when I have a threaded message, I don't see the > to drop down information to show the threads from the subject pane in the subject field.

I have gone to view, sort by threaded. I'm led to believe I should see something like this:

But I see none of that. It's just one flat subject. It doesn't even tell me someone has replied to me. I have to go into the mail to see that. I have added the conversations add on just to get a glance of that, because I'm seeing nothing.

Using a watch face on my Galaxy Watch 6 (MD332 from Play store) that has a MAIL complication that is not updating correctly. Using K-9 Mail on my phone with GMail and Outlook accounts. Anyone have any ideas how I can get the MAIL complication to sync correctly with phone?

My company has a new name and I need to create a new signature. Now I have a problem: I have almost 200 email templates or drafts. The "old" signature is saved in these emails. I have created the new signature with the new name, but it doesn't seem to update automatically for emails in the templates or drafts folder.

Do you have an idea how I could solve this elegantly without having to edit all 200 mails manually?

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a "search and replace" command.

I mistakenly moved a folder into another. It is now a subfolder and I want to move it back. The move command is not working. How do I move a subfolder back to be a primary folder?

Hi there,

I'm having some difficulty getting my email signature for my new job set up correctly.

I want the company logo to appear on the left, with my details to the right of the logo, as seen in the first screenshot.

However, currently, the text appears incorrectly underneath the company logo. I have tried pasting the signature into a blank email, generating the HTML code and pasting that into the signature text box, yet it still displays incorrectly when sending an email.

The HTML for my email signature is as follows:

115 continues to try my patience, but inflicting threading upon me goes beyond annoyance and into the reign of seriously disrupting my ability to use Thunderbird.

I've read some stuff here that I don't really understand. Is there any way to TOTALLY turn off threading for any and all incoming or stored emails? I found View ==> Sort By ==> Threads seems to have an option for "All" but that can't be unchecked.

If anyone can provide any help, I'll be quite grateful!

I have set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to TRUE in both Thunderbird and Betterbird.

I have created the file C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\r2v9k1zw.default\chrome\userChrome.css

I have successfully entered css into that file that work as expected in Thunderbird v115.12 and has for the past several versions. But I have NOT been able to do anything in that file that works with BetterBird. In fact, using the inspector, I don't see userChrome.css even being loaded! I have also tried starting the file with '@namespace html url(“http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”)' but that makes no difference either.

How do I get BetterBird to recognize the userChrome.css file?

I recently purchased a new laptop and needed to migrate my old Thunderbird profiles. This is what I did: 1. Backed up profiles from old laptop 2. downloaded and installed latest version of Thunderbird on new laptop 3. coped profiles into \roaming directory 4. tested and successfully received emails and viewed all old emails.

The problem is that the Mail toolbar is nowhere to be found. Also, the calendar is missing. I tried right clicking on empty space and it only showed "menu bar" as an option. Attachment shows nothing in the toolbars option of View dropdown.

I understand the basic differences between unread folders and unified folders what I don't understand is why two of nine my accounts are listed in both unified folders and unread (see circled in red) how do I remove the two accounts from unified folders or

add more to it
and what makes it confusing is that the subfolders aren't the same when listed in unified or unread

Several upgrades ago, I created message filters in Thunderbird to forward emails received from specific senders to other email accounts that needed to get copies. While running version 115.12.1 32bit on Win 10, I had need to delete one of the filters. When I went to Menu Bar > Tools > Message Filters the Message Filters window does NOT show ANY filters regardless of which account (I have 20 and checked each) is selected. I have also searched my HDD, located all copies of msgFilterRules.dat and opened ones that might be related to the account in question. ALL of the msgFilterRules.dat files that I checked had only 2 lines.... version="9" and logging="no", except for the problem account where I had turned on logging and the .dat file showed "yes". I also went to yahoo and checked to see if I might have created the filter on the server side. However, according to yahoo, they discontinued the forwarding filter in 2021, so it's not happening there. I need to know how to find the forwarding filters and edit them.

I would like to know if I can move my email accounts up or down on my Thunderbird home page. I am phasing out one of my email accounts and I would like to move it from the top of my email account list and position my primary account at the top.
