in thunderbird (latest) my send icon has disapeared..tried the add icons but it is not there ..every other one is but no send the f10 does nothing as all ticked (wish i never bothered with update talk about going backwards)

When I search ( Ctrl+K ), the result is always threaded by default.

I prefer to view as unthreaded So every time, I need to go to View Menu > sort by > and select "unthreaded"

Is there a way to set my preference for this to be my DEFAULT view sorting?

I run W10 21H2 up to date, and Thunderbird 102.1.2 I do exactly what is described in cited post which used to work ..(can't say when it stops working) with the same result "BLACK" (only sometimes a quick "flickering" with the chosen color, but "Black is Back

I just updated Version 102.14.0.0 to Version 115.1.0. Previously I was able to click on "Get Messages" and select which account I wanted to get new messages from. With Version 115, "Get Messages" gets new messages for all my accounts... all 12 of my accounts!

How/where can I change "Get Messages" so it retrieves new messages only for the account I want to get new messages from?

My preferences > general > files & attachments settings all show "use LibreOffice Writer" (free Word substitute, interchangeable with Word). Instead i get a full-screen "reply" template (presumably to be used to reply to the email --not at all what i want!

Made a mistake by changing user_pref("layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" from I think - 0.5 to +0.5 as incoming emails font was miniscule, but made nor difference... so thought it may be a font size, so changed to 12.... Now ginormous and unreadable. Searched through pages here for an answer and got to the prefs.js folder to find this file but it is not there.... I searched with notepad edit search for "layout" but no luck. Any ideas anyone? I tried adding the line user_pref("layout.css.devPixelsPerPx", "1.5"); whilst TB was closed and then opened TB but had made no difference.. :-( Any ideas anyone? TIA Graham

when i write a new mail i have this kind of letters , by sent or received mail, the letters are different, see my two screenshots. how can i install that the letters in a written mail are the same in each group?

Trying to add an add-on, things seem normal until I get to the dialogue box advising me 'This extension will have permission to ... [Cancel] [Add]'. Clicking either box does nothing and the box cannot be collapsed, it just hangs. I have to kill and restart Tbird to clear it.

so far i was lucky with tb 102 as for me it "just works" as before, _but_ it seems that "sort by ... threaded" is now the default setting for folder views which i personally hate.

as i have "millions" of folders I don't want to switch every single one of them to "unthreaded" manually.

unfortunately i didn't find a setting within the ui that allows to change the setting generally being effective for every folder.

so i tried that: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1293255 but setting mailnews.default_view_flags from 1 to 0 didn't work.

do i need to change another setting as well? maybe add "ShowExpanded" as well? but i'didn't understand how to do this: "the second group of values can be added to one of the first group to combine effects"

maybe i also have to change the setting "mail.folder.views.version" - to which value?

is it actually possible with new tb 102 to generally change the new default view "sort by ... threaded" to "sort by ... unthreaded"?

To clarify what I mean in my title: I've set up a message filter that is supposed to search in the body that contains a word. I know the word is in the body, but yet the filter is not being triggered.

I have tried a different word that has spaces before and after and it seems to work, so I guess that's the problem, but how can I allow thunderbird to work when there's different characters before or after the word also?

Hi, some years ago I installed the Monterail theme manually. That means I've missed out on all the recent goodness of updated icons and UI with the default themes, and have a bunch of layout issues I'd like to fix.

However the old folder structure of userchrome etc seems to have been deprecated - I can't find a trace of the old css files that I manually installed for that old theme I used. Which means I can't find the backup default userchrome folder, or delete the old theme files I manually installed. In fact I can't find any .css files in my Tbird user profile directory, which is weird.

So how can I reset all the UI CSS to default so visually I'm using the current default Tbird theme? I can see that this works fine when I create a new profile and try that - it looks great! But I don't want to lose my 12 mail accounts and other config options by deleting my main profile completely and reconfiguring from scratch. Thanks!

Why is it that I am not able to search for this email when using an exact phrase that is in the email body? The normal searching works, but I don't use that because the threaded mode is bugged and it seems like another "wontfix" issue. Why is it that mozilla software is so buggy and the bugzilla mods would rather just lock your posts than address these issues?

Hi, I have several issues regarding signatures -

1) how do i make a signature consisting of some text as well as an image - i have created my signature in a new email, saved it as a HTML file and used it as a file for my signature..

2) but when i create a new email - it shows for like a 1 second and then disappears.. doesnt appear in replies or forwards..

3) i tried to instead just use an image as a signature.. again just shows up for 1 second in replies and forwards and disappears..

have set all settings as instructed in the various answers in the forums..

I have finally achieved a good font size for email written in plain text. But a good third of my emails are from newsletter subscriptions that are written in html format. In settings/composition, I have changed the setting to HUGE after trying all the other options in the drop-down list.

Nothing works. Couldn't we go back to the old standby - Cntl +? It's simple/stupid, and you don't have to go hunting throughout all the menus (that aren't coordinated in any way)?

I'm trying to change my pop3 account to imap to sync with my aol.com account. I've gone through the process of setting up a new account in TB and added the aol IMAP and SMTP settings, but the "checking password" at the top of the page never goes away. I'm using the same password that I use to access aol.com from the web.

There must be some secret that I'm missing. Thanks.

When I open a mailto link, Thunderbird doesn't allow me to select which of my email accounts to send the message from. Currently, my default account is automatically selected. But previously, I could select one of of my other email accounts using a drop-down in the FROM field. How do I change this back - or is there a setting or an add-on I can use for this basic functionality? thanks

Hi. I really like the new look of 115, but the file menu should be above the toolbar. Is there a way to put the file menu at the top of the window (above the toolbar)?

I am trying to set up filters for my TB mailboxes. The ones I had previously set up before I upgraded to 115 work, but new ones that I add don't. I can't manually apply filters now, and any new ones that I create don't filter incoming mail.

I currently have TB 115.5.1.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?
