Problem with expired/invalid OAuth2 tokens

My organization uses Google Workspaces/GSuite, and my supervisor needs about forty mailboxes on his laptop (macOS Monterey). These are accessed through POP, with OAuth2 authentication.

Previously, when one of these OAuth tokens expired or otherwise became invalid, attempting to check mail on that account would pop up the Google authentication page. Now, it just produces an error message ("The STAT command did not succeed .. Invalid credentials"). In order to re-authenticate to the account, I have to manually go into saved passwords and delete the invalid OAuth token. At that point, attempting to check the mailbox will pop up the authentication page.

Is there a way to make it so that, if Google's server replies with "Invalid credentials", Thunderbird will pop up the authentication page automatically, rather than requiring me to manually delete the invalid token? I searched Config Editor, but didn't see anything obvious.

Thank you for your time.

I am nearly 73 years old, and well affected by Parkinson's Syndrome and vision AND am loosing my ability to walk, rtalk, and see. I don't recall fiddly details anywhere as well as in the past.

I think it would be an advantage to see what I am typing. The simplest error with a password can wreak havoc with one's time and sense of self. If there is something I can adjust, or if a brief bit of coding may well be a splendid help.

I have email filters set-up to delete any emails from senders who are not in my address book. However, if the email is missing the sender ("From:" tag missing) the email is retained. I would like an option to create a filter based on missing "From:" tag. This would help protect users from scams and junk emails.

I have updated Thunderbird to the latest version and created an exception to accept cookies from Google by entering https://accounts.google.com in the appropriate field.

However, upon restarting Thunderbird I still get the message "Login to server imap.googlemail.com with username monikawalteris@gmail.com failed."

Please tell me what else I need to do. I love Thunderbird and would hate to use Outlook or, worse, have to open a browser each time I want to check/write emails.

I have 6 gmail accounts which until last Thursday were all working fine on Thunderbird. However, I received an email for my main account from google telling me that they were switching on 2 step authentication, whether I wanted it or not.

After that imap stopped working for this 1 account. So I logged out of google for this account, and logged in again, using 2 step via phone. Still not working.

So I checked all my Imap settings with googles instructions, updated from the default smtp server, and still nothing.

Went back to google, and found I could switch off 2 step verification which I did. Thunderbird now partially works. I can download emails but when I come to send or save as draft, I get the error message as shown.

Up until Tuesday Thunderbird & Gmail were working fine & have een for years. Suddenly when I tried to get my messages on June 7, I got the message: "Sending of password for user napaneedlepoint did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted."

I can get to Gmail just fine from my browser. I checked preferences & the passwrds are right. I have tried closing & opening Thunderbird several times -- no change. i shut my Mac down every night. No change each morning.

I dowloaded 91.8.0 and reinstalled -- no change.

I see nothing about oAuth in my passwords section & no option to see this. I run my business using this & this is a huge HUGE problem.

Please help!

Hi: I use Thunderbird 38.7.2 on a MacBook Pro with MacOS 10.11.6. Thunderbird tells me that it is up to date, and that I am on the release update channel.

As of today, 9 June 2022, Gmail rejects my password, and re-entering it does not help.

I went into Preferences/Account Settings/<account_name>/Server Settings/Security Settings, Options are

    Normal Password
    Encrypted Password
    Kerberos/GSSAPI
    NTLM
    TLS Certificate.

Nothing about OAuth2.

Read that version 38 of Thunderbird is supposed to be OAuth2 compatible, so I'm stuck. As Thunderbird thinks it is up to the latest and greatest, I cannot update it to something newer. And I do not see a way to enable OAuth2.

The answer is probably obvious. just not to me.
