I have been trying to update Thunderbird from V52 for a long time., Last time I tried, the add-ons I need were randomly only available for different versions, and hardly any of them were available for the latest version. After several days trawling through finding replacement add-ons trawling through hundreds of 20 per page lists and checking each add-on's versions history for compatibility , I gave up. Is there a simpler way to do this? There used to be pages of add ons for each version, no link for that anymore that I can see. Thunderbird would be a lot more popular if updates listed addons they made incompatible. Any ideas anyone?

I migrated from a working profile when I upgraded from FC37 to FC39. I can see all the email that was in my account at the time I upgraded, but new messages aren't showing up. I have tried both imap.gmail.com and imap.googlemail.com. I saw each in some place or another. I am not being prompted to authenticate which I suspect is the source of the problem.

Creating new GMail account fails: 0x80004005 [nsiMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

I'm using Thunderbird on Linux Mint. The installation is the same one I've had for awhile, with two email accounts in it, one being GMail.

Today I changed my Google password. I expected Thunderbird to prompt me when the old password failed; and it did, except the window it showed me was entirely blank, except for a URL bar at the top which was to Google's domain.

I tried it several times, same result. I closed Thunderbird and restarted. This time the window prompting me about the GMail connection had stuff in it, but it showed a Thunderbird logo and seemed to want me to "log into Thunderbird" or something (not Google). I think I clicked a button to advance through that screen and something else went wrong, IIRC.

I decided to just delete the GMail account and rebuild it from scratch. In "create account"; it succeeds at finding a configuration for GMail, where IMAP is selected over POP3. I press the "Done" button, but a yellow bar becomes displayed:

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsiMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

And it also says "Checking password..." with a spinning hourglass that never resolves.

Any thoughts?

I would like to wipe all traces of my Thunderbird installation off my computer--profiles, etc.--and start all over. I have tried deleting the Thunderbird "Profiles" folder, downloading T-bird anew, and installing it afresh. It will not start; I get the error message "missing profile." But THAT WAS THE POINT. I don't want to use the old profile or retrieve any of my old emails. I wasn't born with that profile, but now it's the only one Thunderbird will allow me to use.

How do I start from scratch, as if I had never installed T-bird before?

Thanks,

 GAS

hey all

when i downloaded and installed Thunderbird beta it imported my account settings fine, but lost the list of automatically allowed image loading emails/urls so now i have to add everything again.

if i switch back to the stable release, how can i make sure this list is kept?

feedback - you may want to provide some way to automatically import that going between versions so its not lost (i couldn't find it after switching) and even export all settings for backup - i remember having to change region etc info (im in Australia).
