Today, I noticed that I can no longer get to the Calendar & Task Tabs in my TBird 91.9.0 running in Win 11 Insider Beta Channel. In View, both Calendar & Tasks are grayed out (see pic). The Today Pane does display events, but no tasks.

I created a new profile, but things are worse…there are no selections for Calendar or Tasks in View. I followed the instructions about deleting the extensions.installedAddOn… and restarting, but no luck.

Unfortunately, I don't know when it broke. I did install 91.9.0 recently, but I didn't notice if Calendar was working. The Today pane has been working, though.

This is working on my two Win 10 systems, both also at 91.9.0.

I'm pretty technical, so no need to edit.

In or around TB 91.3.1 double-clicking on an event, you get a dialog box such as the attached. In order to edit the event, you have to hit the Edit button. In the past, TB would just open the event and allow you to edit it. If the event was recurring then, and only then, would a small dialog box come up to ask if you were editing just this event or all events. I see no advantage to this extra dialog box, especially for one-time-only events. It's just another unnecessary click of the mouse.

Dear all, I have a couple of calendars on the disk as network calendars (file:///...ics) with offline support, and I just realized that I cannot delete any event. These calendars are not read-only, I can see the option delete, both with right-click on the event and double-click to edit the event, but after pressing delete, the event remains on the calendar. Just pressing the delete button on the keyboard after selecting the event has the same behaviour. If I try shift the events from one calendar to the other, they do appear in the new calendar, but they do not disappear from the old. I have restarted Thunderbird, and also tried this on another computer with the same results. Both szstems are Windows 11, Th underbird 115.10.1 I would be very grateful for any suggestions

Events on external calendar created before 102 update all show, or did, I assume to due to Offline Support, but updates, changes, new events added since were not syncing, and after Unsubscribing and attempting to re-add the ext. calendar, Thunderbird is not able to 'find' the calendar at all, I just get a spinning ball.

The same external calendar is successfully being found and updated by another service. I use a Mac.

Today marker on Lightening Calendar does not advance to current day at midnignt on Month view

My OS is Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal Thunderbird version 102.4.2 (64-bit) "Today" marker does not advance to current calendar day after midnight of the previous calendar day in monthly view. The monthly view is the only view I use. If the < Today > link at the top of the calendar is mouse-clicked, it does not advance to the current day but remains on the previous day. To advance the day marker I have to click either "<" for previous month or ">" for the next month and then click Today. At that point the calendar will return to the current month and highlight the current day. This problem was also present on a previous version of LM (18.3) My add-ons are: Cardbook v. 83.6 ConfirmBeforeDelete v. 1.7.0 Lightening Calendar Tabs v. 2.8 Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV v. 4.3 TaskviewFlexLayout v. 62.9

There are two disabled extensions which could be uninstalled as they have been disable "since dirt was young,": TabAddressBook ToDo.txt Both were automatically disabled by Thunderbird due to incompatibility and I have no further need for them The active extensions are used with regularlity. This is a "livible" problem but but an irritation. Searches with multiple search engines have turned up nothing on this issue since 2020 and/or v. 68 of Tbird. Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide on this issue. Mozilla software has bee my default software of choice, also "since dirt was young," and for what it's worth (which is very little) I check viable alternatives virtually every six months to see what your "competition" has to offer. Particularly, your configurational granularity is STELLAR! Once again, thanks!

Specific 'Calendar' topic, but could also be considered to be about updating (improving) the Thunderbird controls/options/addons.

Is this a Feature Request, per say? If so, is it in the right place here? If not, where to put this?

Platform: Windows 10. Issue: Thunderbird (Lightning/Calendar) keeps aggressively stealing focus, i.e. putting the Reminder window on top of whatever else I am doing. This is incredibly annoying and unproductive. The only option is to completely disable Reminders, which defeats the purpose of course. See also, for example, https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/185c727/how_can_i_prevent_the_reminders_window_from/. Requirement: I would like to still hear the Reminder sound, and it would be great if the application also 'gets highlighted' (in orange) on the Taskbar (like many applications that have something new going on, but do not immediately push themselves to the foreground) to get a visual Notification, as well.

In any case, this overly dominant behaviour of the application should NOT persist.

Running Thunderbird 115.6.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10. I can add an EVENT to any of my 5 calendars in the dropdown. But when I try to add a TASK, only 4 calendars are offered. Naturally, it's the missing calendar (xxx@gmail.com) I need!

Suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Hi,

I am running Thunderbird 115.6.0 on Linux.

One of my calendars is on a Synology NAS with Synology Calendar.

I can create new events. As long as I don't close Thunderbird I can change the events as well.

But after a restart of Thunderbird I cannot change the events anymore. Ending up with a o/rjcpdo/pdo/faa15765-29e1-4470-80d7-5157b042bddf.1705244573723.ics [HTTP/2 405 Method Not Allowed 817ms].

I can still change the event for instance on the default calendar of Android. The changed events also show up in Thunderbird.

After changing the event on Android. I can change the event in Thunderbird again untill restart.

What I've seen so far is that the working link from Thunderbird is different than the link when it is not working. Not working. https://XXXX.synology.me:80/caldav/xxxxx/rjcpdo/pdo/faa15765-29e1-4470-80xx-5157b042bddf.1705244573723.ics

working: https://XXXX.synology.me:80/caldav/xxxxx/rjcpdo/faa15765-29e1-4470-80xx-5157b042bddf.1705244573723.ics

I've changed part of the link (xxxx) but it is the extra pdo part in the not working link.

Anybody any idea what is going wrong here?

Regards

I've used thunderbird with gmx calendar for many years. Apart from persistently forgetting its "stored" password, I've never had any problems.

But about a month ago, I started getting a message that the servier wants to redirect from the usually-correct https://calendar.gmx.com/begenda/dav/[my name]@gmx.com/calendar to gmx.com.

At first I didn't accept the redirection, but the calendar stopped syncing. Then when I did accept the redirection, the calendar disabled itself altogether. Using the ENABLE button didin't help.

The GMX calendar itself is working fine:

  • I can access by logging in at gmx.com and the organiser tab
  • the calendar still works fine via my lineageOS phone
  • if I go to https://calendar.gmx.com/begenda/dav/[my name]@gmx.com/calendar while still logged in, I can download a raw list of all of my events

GMX support suggested removing the calendar from firefox, changing the password on gmx and adding it up again. Mostly it was not possible to add it, with thunderbird giving the message:

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2022-04-16-00-57-44-0e6dec.png

That long location is the location suggested as correct in gmx thunderbird FAQ. But I also tried setting the location as gmx.com or caldav.gmx.com with the same result.

Eventually after trying on numerous occasions I managed to add the calendar again, but in less than a day I was back to getting the redirect message and the calendar not syncing.

I've removed the gmx calendar, reinstalled thunderbird and tried to add the calendar again. At the moment it will not add using any of the locations mentioned above. But of course, I can still access it via gmx.com and my lineageOS mobile.

Also tried adding with thunderbird in troubleshooting mode but no difference.

I subsequently tried two suggested addons (now disabled because they did not help):

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2022-04-16-01-13-26-d28ffe.png

  • Thunderbird help says 91.8.0 and it's running on windows 10 64 bit.
  • I don't have any caldav-related addons (nor did I need any in the many years when gmx calandar was working properly in thunderbird

I do have these addons (but the troubleshooting mode test should have eliminated them)

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2022-04-16-01-19-55-b59057.png

What to try next? I'm only interested in the calendar, not gmx email and I'd prefer to see my calendar in thunderbird than at gmx.com

I use Calendly.com for scheduling my meetings. I'll receive a meeting confirmation email when someone books, and linked from that email is an .ics file I can import to Thunderbird calendar. This all works fine except that meetings imported don't respect the default reminder setting. No reminder is set at all for these meetings - I have to edit each event manually to append the reminder to match what I have saved in the Reminder Defaults section of Settings (15 mins).

Meetings added to my calendar in other ways (i.e. an invitation direct to my inbox) respect and apply the 15min default. This places the blame on Calendly so I looked at the .ics files I'm getting from there and find no TRIGGER reference at all. I imported an unrelated sample .ics file with the TRIGGER explicitly defined and this works, but in the absence of a TRIGGER reference in the Calendly files, my expectation is that the default reminder time would be applied.

Any advice on what may be happening?

Thanks
