Not sure if I've done something to cause this, or whats happened or if this is a bug in the beta release I'm using.. 101.0b2 (64-bit)

When I open an email from the inbox view to read it, it always goes into write/edit/reply/send mode(not sure what to call that mode). It's only just started to happen.

Is this a config/settings error I could have caused ? Other Suggestions?

I have searched the help to increase the size of the opening page fonts in - email subjects and account names. I am using the most recent update of Thunderbird. Per what I saw in the help I went to layouts.css.devPixelsPerPx and changed -1.0 to 1.2. Closed the config editor and returned to email - no change. I shut down Thunderbird and opened it again - still no change in the font size. I reset the setting in Config Editor and tried 1.25 - still no change. Tried -1.25 still no change. Each time when I go back to this setting in config editor - the number has been changed - but does nothing to change the font.

None of the font settings in Preferences have any effect on the opening page of Thunderbird.

I have some visual impairment and need these fonts larger. There has to be a way to do it. At one time these fonts were larger. There must be a way to change these - and why it is not easily built in to Preferences is terrible - and makes Thunderbird useless to those with minor visually impairment.

I need help in resolving this - there has to be a way.

The use of a separate filter set for each Thunderbird account can be a major pain for some users. I have 32 email accounts (some of them disposable) in a number of domains for a large number of purposes. Sometimes several accounts need the same filter, so when I add a filter I add it to the dominant account, and then have to copy that filter set to the other 31 accounts. I suggest adding an option that would use the same filter set (the one for the dominant account makes the most sense) to be used for every account, eliminating the need to copy filters.

Mbox upload to thunderbird went smooth. Setting on 14,000 emails in Local folders... However when I drag and drop that folder into the inbox of my gmail account so I can view remotely on any device, It caps out at 2500. I searched this on the web and it looks like google caps imap exchanges to 2,500/day but it says that it allows you to migrate entire inboxes up to 3 a month...

How do I get more than 2500 or set a schedule of uploading in the right order for exactly 2,500/day?

OR is there a better way altogether to get this to happen? I tried to connect my gsuite email account to pull in all old files but it could never gain access which led me down this google takeout mbox down load and upload into thunderbird

Is there some way I can change the order in which email accounts are presented in the left panel on Thunderbird (91.9.0 (64-bit))? Perhaps a config file within the profile?

I note that in the preferences/settings, you can activate the account with the mouse, but you can't drag/drop to change order (maybe a useful feature to have?).

Thanks.

On May 20, 2022, in a few days, Google will turn off "unsecure access" to Gmail from Thunderbird and Outlook. This will require changing the Thunderbird account settings from "Normal Password" to "OAuth2" for verification. Problem is OAuth2 verification will not work on my Windows 7 laptop. It just runs in circles. A Google page opens, asks my Google account password, accepts it, and then shows a page asking to allow access to the account. Saying yes just closes the window, but no mail gets POPed down to Thunderbird. In my testing, OAuth2 does work on my Windows 10 laptop. If you are as stubborn as me about still using the Win7 computer, you can change your Google account to use 2-factor verification. They will call you or text you every time you log in to the Google account itself, or you can buy a USB dongle. Once you have 2FA setup, you can go to the "Security" sidebar in your Google account, and create an "app password". I said "Mail" and "Windows Computer" and it generates a 16-letter password shown as all caps, but when cut-and-pasted in my Keepass password manager is all small case. You can then go back to, or stay at "Normal Password" in your Thunderbird account settings, and when the password to your Google account fails, put in the app password and check "Remember in Password manager". Then you can POP emails from Gmail again. I don't know if Outlook has these problems. I assume IMAP on Win 7 might have these problems. I did create a new T-bird profile just to try this out. I detailed that misery quest in a previous post: "Almost can get Gmail with 2FA" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1369836

The sad thing is my Google password is 15 characters alpha mixed with numeric, I assume case sensitive, and also special characters. So it is much more secure than the app password Google assigned me. Especially more secure now that hackers know our email password is 16 alpha non-case-sensitive. Oh well, that's Google for you. Don't blame them, blame the idiots that set their passwords to Password1.

After figuring out this with the new test Google accounts I made, I just switched one of my three "real" Gmail accounts to 2FA, and an app password for mail. If I read right, if you try to outsmart the system and drop out of Google 2FA, it also invalidates all your app passwords as well.

It would be nice if the T-bird team could see why OAuth2 verification fails in Win7. I posted results in my T-bird error console in that previous post. I hope this is a weird thing that only affects me, but just in case, I thought I would post this for other Win7 dinosaurs out there.

Hi,

I have a strange problem with Thunderbird (currently 91.8.1 on Linux, but have this problem for a while). Initially (i.e. after each reboot) Thunderbird works normally but at some point when I start Thunderbird all I can see in the folders list are one entry for each account (see attached screenshot). I can still edit account details. But the only way to make it work again is to reboot my system. Just logging out and in is not sufficient. I tried to start Thunderbird in safe mote or to get some log details but nothing helped or got me a step further.

Today I experienced something new. I worked with Thunderbird and didn't close it (and also didn't suspend or hibernate the system). At some point when I wanted to visit the sent-item-folder I got an error message (unfortunately I didn't make a screenshot) that the folder couldn't be loaded. Then I couldn't open any folder. After restarting Thunderbird I had the problem of above.

Hope someone has an idea how to fix this.

Alex

Messages with the different subject are grouped in one thread

The subject line for one was " Fw: Important Document(s) from Store's" & "Signing complete: 123 Main ST Residential Lease Contract & Pet Ag". One email came from a store email. The other came from docusign.

The only thing they did have in common was that inside the message from Store it mentions "Main St.", but not the full address.

I tried to move one email to another folder, and both emails get moved. My end result is that I need to put the store email under my "VENDORS File", and the other under "SIGNED CONTRACTS File"

Also, I keep missing emails because it keeps putting them in weird threads like this.

I have set "mail.thread_without_re" to false already. I just need to file emails to correct file.

Please & thank you for your help!

Hi

I'm trying to set up another email account but the Confirm Security Exception dialogue is preventing it. The exception is already stored but still keeps asking and when I reconfirm the dialogue flashes off/on and doesn't not disappear preventing the set up of the account. I have other emails from the same host and have not had this issue before. Anything I maybe doing wrong or bug? I've added a screenshot.

Many thanks Alan

I have just installed version 91. I did it after using version 38 to import some old Outlook files and to add details of my accounts. That worked and then I upgraded. the folders are there and the accounts but when I check the email it wants the password each time. I have checked the "use password manager" box but nothing happens - nothing gets stored. Do I have to do something different? (Maybe this is an issue as I see one or two others have similar problems)

Re-ordering local folders alphabetically would be helpful too.
