This is the message I get when trying to send emails: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: pgbentley101@gmail.com recipient rejected. Please check the message recipient "pgbentley101@gmail.com" and try again."

Title. Thunderbird is a really cool client but it's pretty slow. I blame that on the thousands upon thousands of emails that my hotmail and gmail each hold. I don't necessarily want to delete these emails, but I have seldom a reason to have any email older than 2 months in my thunderbird client slowing and crashing the program whenever I want to combine inboxes.

To this end I went to "Synchronization & Storage" and told it to "Synchronize the most recent 2 months" but it didn't delete the huge cluster of older emails. The next option is to tell TB to delete these emails in the same menu but as I understand it that would also delete them in the server, which I don't want to do for posteriority.

What do I do?

my oldest and primary email account (an AOL account) is only showing emails from November 2023. Nothing older!! This email account it 20+ years old and i often need to find old emails. I see the number 10,000 Messages next to Inbox . I have way more than 10,000 old messages. This was never an issue that i can recall, until today whats the story???

I can't get smtp to work with multiple yahoo accounts. When I get the account settings window, it shows the correct smtp server for yahoo. (smtp.mail.yahoo.com) but when I click on the edit SMTP button, there is a section called "Security and Authentication" section with 3 lines

     Connection Security:             [SSL/TLS]
     Authentication Method :        [0AUTH2]
     User Name:                             [*****1@cox.net]  (My accounts were transferred from COX to Yahoo)

If I edit the SMTP on any of my cox accounts, it changes them all to the same user name. If I want to send mail from any cox account, I have to go to account settings first and edit the smtp and put in the correct account. This is very tedious.

I have noticed that my gmail accounts do the same thing, but gmail doesn't care. Here is the error I get when sending mail before going to account settings first to change the account.

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I would like my response to e mail to start at top of thread not bottom. Help searches tell me to go to Account settings -composition & addressing - "authenticate quote" my version (V 115.7.0) does not have this option.

I cannot send nor answer e-post. I have not received any reply from Thunderbird, except one that did not apply. I am desperate. This problem repeats itself, time and again.

I have been using Thunderbird mail for ages, and now suddenly diverse thing don't work anymore: I can't chose my signatures anymore (signature switch does not work anylonger), the language correction does not work anylonger, and when I print things they come out wrong. How do I select a folder to store replies to emails received. Currently they all go to the "Sent" folder...I would like to select the folder where I would like to store the reply... Thank you

I want to use my Tbird address books as my contact data "warehouse." Can someone help me?

Tbird has a set of preferred data attributes for IMPORT into address books. I find articles and postings that discuss (1) create & open an addressbook; (2) browse & select the CSV data file; etc. Where do I find detailed preparation for a CSV that Tbird will digest?

On import, Tbird tries to match file column with Tbird preferred columns. This never works for me. I routinely see whole records with multiple "quoted", "fields" in one column but cannot find a reason why that happens.

Must I import an exact & complete Tbird CSV? Must column names match exactly in name and in order? May Tbird skip blank/empty columns where my data does not include info that Tbird wants?

After all of the above, my contact data is in numerous forms that I convert somehow that I can then obtain a CSV. I receive the data as email or shared document or some scanned to PDF or JPG. THANK YOU, LINUX for piped command chains and scripted work flow.

Hi Folks. About a year and a half ago I some how got hacked in communication with a help desk somewhere. From that point on , I have not been able to use my Thunderbird email. It asks for my password that I do not have. I have spent hours trying to reset it. I have tried a clean reinstall, but it recognizes me and asks for my password. I have my email addresses saved and would be happy to do a fresh install, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. I am very much obliged for any help you may offer. I have been using Thunderbird for years on my old computer but how do I import my address book from old to new computer please - I use gmail. Please give me detailed instructions as I am not a computer technician.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have come a long way using linux but there is one thing I am missing dearly in Thunderbird Calendar: I want to see the next x days to move around my appointments if needed and to see my future days. On Wednesday I don't need to see the past two days but Monday and Tuesday of the next week, so I can use the time without switching to a month view or move my calendar around.

Is this hard to implement?

Don't know why or how, but my display of messages has changed. I want my messages on one line with heading on top identifying each column of data beneath (e.g., date received, existence of an attachment, etc.). How can I get back to that arrangement?

The account I’m trying to add is an alternate domain of a Google workspace account. I’ve successfully added a few alternate domains of the same account, I’m certain my user and password information is correct, but it won’t let me add it. What could be the problem?

For a long time I have stored my POP messages in a a Mail folder on drive E:

I am in the process of changing computers and I have the E:\Mail folder on the new PC containing the old messages. I have saved the profile, installed Thunderbird 115, and reinstated the profile, but Thunderbird does not point to the E:\Mail directory.

How can I persuade it to see my massages?
