I updated Thunderbird from 91.13.1 to 102.6.1.

All Addons are disabled/uninstalled. iMAP account and SMTP.

Normal Mode: I can send and receive if I do not check "save password". If I do try and save pwd it takes a long time but finally does refresh iMAP folders. No pwds are listed in the pwd manager. If I try and send and save the pwd it waits a long time and fails to send (connection failure) If I try and send and enter pwd without saving it it works fine.

Troubleshooting (TS) mode: Works perfectly I enter the password for iMAP and for sending SMTP it sends and receives quickly and I can see the pwd listed in pwd manager.

Restarting TB in normal mode after Troubleshooting mode and pwd manager list is empty.

I tried copying logins.json after it had saved pwd in TS mode and replacing it after normal mode no luck.

I tried with firewall on/off and antivirus on/off

I have four Gmail accounts which I'm phasing out because of the absurd Google policies and convolutions. I've added four new accounts with another, my own mail hosting service. all the four Gmail accounts I have set to forward all to thee new accounts.

The problem is every time I start up Thunderbird it defaults stubbornly to the previous Gmail account which subsequently it cannot log in and for a password.

I tried everything, setting the other account as default account, unchecking server settings [i.e.check for new messages at start up].

Since I have much (downloaded) information still in subfolders that I need to access from time to time I have not yet deleted that account.

Nothing seems to work, every time I start Thunderbird it immediately goes to that previous default Gmail account and then prompts me for "mail server password required".

The strange thing is that the other remaining three Gmail accounts which have identical settings do not create a problem.

how can I make this stop for once and for all?

Hi. I have been using Thunderbird successfully with my email account for years. Recently a new problem has appeared. Generally, if I create a subfolder in Thunderbird I see it in the Comcast webmail, and vice versa. Sometimes, however, it doesn't carry through. I have some that are visible in webmail but don't show up in Thunderbird. I have removed and re-added the account to Thunderbird. Still they don't show up. I have checked with Comcast Support and they say that the account is fine. Is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I am running win 10 (64) with thunderbird 102.6.1 (64-bit) and in the past 2 days keep getting a pop-up from ieee - I was a member. I contacted ieee and my account was deleted. A full scan using current version avast free did not find anything. I tried logging in and was rejected.

When this pop-up appears, there is an additional listing in task manager under thunderbird.

I find it extremely annoying to keep getting this pop-up.

I am also using comodo firewall.

I am also contacting avast and comcodo.

Any suggestions etc would be appreciated.

Thunderbird 102.7.0, 64-bit, Windows 10.

I just fell over this today but it may have been around for a while.

I have lots of email accounts. It was great when TB starting properly supporting a per-account (outbound) SMTP server, however, this seems to have newly broken. I fell over it today, but I don't reboot things for ages so I cannot pinpoint the start.

Here's the issue.

I have accounts on many mail servers, many on the same (mainly att.net, and gmail.com, as it happens).

Each one of them, to send mail, wants me to log in with an individual sending address. Fair enough. This used to work just fine.

However, suddenly, just the att.net addresses are broken. What *seems* to be happening is that the same, single login address is being used for all N accounts. Naturally, this breaks when the login address doesn't match the one on the From: line. So I have to futz around, fiddle around, and so on, and then things work. (I.E. I change the TB settings so that the outbound SMTP auth login matches the From: line, have to re-enter the password, and only then will the message be sent.) So if I have two accounts, x@att.net and y@att.net, only one of them (at a time) "works" with att.net - it's whatever I successfully used last. If I sent mail from x@, this address is being used (and it's in the account settings field. over-riding what was there before), even if I send mail from y@. Or z@. Etc. If I change the SMTP auth address to y@, then that account works perfectly, but x@ doesn't. And so on.

Now the weird part is this: my Gmail addresses still work perfectly. I can send from all of them without changing a thing.

The only thing I can see is that Gmail is set up to use oAuth, and att.net is set up to use 'normal password' (via SSL, so I'm not that bothered about security).

Did I unknowingly manage to break something? Is there a new tweak? Help!

Nearly every day I have to quit Thunderbird and reopen it as, it will not connect to my server. This means that all the viewing criteria and spending/descending has to be reset and is a real drag. As soon as I reopen Thunderbird it works normally again.

I have used the same connection details for years and it is just the last two Thunderbird versions that have replicated this issue. It's not always every morning when I wake my iMac up, but normally happens then or, later during the day.

I asked this question for 102.3.1 but received no answers so, I am hoping that there will be an answer to this.

Thanks

The last auto upgrade included a calendar function, which I switched off as I thought this was causing the problem. But now after all the messages have downloaded, I get the usual pop-up box in the bottom right of the screen telling me I have received x messages but it only half fades in and the whole PC jams. CTR-ALT-DEL does not work and I can't switch to a different window or even click on anything in the Thunderbird screen. The only thing that I can do is hard reboot the PC and switch off the router, which allows me to start up Thunderbird without anything downloading. I am using Windows 7 and Avast as my AV. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

We work with Thunderbird on local PC's but for roaming support we have the Thunderbird profiles on a network drive. Lately we noticed that on occasion the network drive is slow or disconnects for a second at which point Thunderbird looses it's lock or the connection to the profile. This results in then giving a popup to reenter the credentials for the mailbox. Is there some setting in Thunderbird where we can tell it to try again for a few times before giving the error?

I found the option 'network.protocol-handler.external.disks' but I cannot find any description on what this setting actually does, is this setting relevant to this issue?

I would appreciate any help you can give us.

There is no mystery to what's happening here. Programming 101: a security exception doesn't get reset every 2 or 3 passes unless some malicious or incompetent programmer set up a countdown loop to reset it. And who would do that kind of thing to users unless some malicious jerk wants to pressure the users into fighting his or her political programming battles with other net entities? I turn 77 this month, and last year had a tumor removed from inside my spinal cord that, while slow-growing and essentially benign, caused horrific pain. If I remember correctly, I opened an account with Network Solutions in about 1998 for aquarien.com. In all that time, I've had few problems with NS, and trust it. A few months ago, I transferred my e-mail accounts with Wild West Domains LLC to NS to avoid the switch at WWD to Microsoft Outlook. But my e-mail for aquarien.com has always been with NS. And since about then, TB has been harassing me every third or so sign-on with certificate errors claiming that NS is not a "legitimate ... site" which provides "invalid information", demanding that I "(checkmark) Permanently store this exception" to "Confirm Security Exception". But no matter how many times I tell it to do so, TB keeps harassing me. It refuses to keep its word about "Permanently" storing "this exception". I'm a retired senior living in HUD retirement housing, who aged out of Social Security Disability Insurance at about 65 onto regular SS income. I don't know about certificates and care less. I trust NS, one of the oldest hosting services, to do the right thing. When I raised this issue before (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1397223), I got two guys snarking and talking down to me, addressing not my problem with storing the exception "Permanently", but harping on the "cheap" NS certificates and demanding in so many words that I serve their interests. It's as ethical and appropriate as parents using their kids to fight each other. KNOCK IT OFF Settle any disputes you have with Network Solutions like real adults, Permanently store this exception, and leave me out of it.

Hi, thanks for your help in advance.

My Thunderbird keeps stalling every time it checks the Hotmail messages. The "thinking" wheel keeps coming up and it freezes for the duration of the process of checking the Hotmail account for new messages.

This didn't happen before, and it doesn't happen with other email accounts (gmail or others). I believe it started with the last 2 updates or so.

I am using a Macbook Pro 16, 2019, 2,3 Ghz, i9, 16Gb, and TB 102.3.3

I look forward to your suggestions to solving this issue since it interferes with my workflow every time I have to wait for TB to unfreeze after it finishes checking the Hotmail account.

Thanks again. Best. Nacho.
