I am using Thunderbird 91.4.0 on Windows 10. Since this upgrade any email in my inbox when opened has the "A unique identity matching the From address not found" message across the bottom, red 'table indicator' boxes in various places around the message. The links in the email do not link, they bring up a box with various information including the link address. Reply-to shows the sender's address and To field shows my address. Reply, forward, delete buttons are missing. If I move the arriving email to another folder it looks normal, but if I hit 'reply' it gets all weird as above again. I saw that this was a bug a couple of years ago with a version about 20 versions back. What's going on? And more to the point, how can I fix it?

Thank you for any help that you can offer.

HI,

I am trying to get my email message list to have the same vertical view as I did with Outlook instead of the spread-out view that Thunderbird uses as default. I wanted this compact so I can view the message in a larger window in vertical view. I have a screenshot with two examples. The top portionos Thunderbird and the bottom is Windows Mail (I didn't use Outlook as I uninstalled it, but the format is nearly the same view in WM). To read the subect/sender I have to drag that column to the left to see the contents and it's off-putting. The left column in WM with message windos is the view I want.

Thnx, Tom

The spell checker is constantly using English (USA) and not English (UK). No matter what I set it to it reverts. I suspect every time there is an update it does this and it is extremely annoying for anyone living this side of the pond (In the UK).

PLEASE can we have English (UK) by default. I notice when you add it to the list of languages in settings the USA version cannot be deleted.

After upgrade to TB 91, Tb opened as if new, asking for setup info. I entered my email and it downloads new messages but all former emails/folders do not appear. No hidden attributes on profile, and profile folder is the original, as the create date is correct (7 yrs ago) and the size is appropriate and the size and date of last use is updated every time I open TB and get some new emails. I did a search in TB and it finds former emails in their correct folders ! But TB will not open these emails, I have tried. I can only view them in the search window. (Former files were compacted) Since the profile folder is correct, does anyone know how I can get normal access and display the pre update folder/emails?

This has happened a couple of times now running the most current version of Thunderbird as of 1/25/22 and for the past week my junk mail is not moving to the junk mail folder. The settings are correct in the tools and accounts. This happened about 2 months ago and then one day it started to work, now it is not again. Any ideas. I have to go through about 300 junk emails now each day which is a waste of time.

My version of Thunderbird is the latest version. Always kept up to date. Filters simply don't work. I create a filter titled Spam. I add an entry as follows. From contains displayed sender name or subject title. Save filter with no errors, click run selected filter and nothing happens either manually or automatically.

How do I them to work? I am drowning in spam that I have to manually delete.

Also Thunderbird identifies emails as potential Junk. I select that email as junk. Yet the next day I get another copy of that exact email. When tagging an email as junk, why doesn't it automatically block that email in future? What is the point to tagging an email as Junk if it doesn't stop them from being sent again?

I have two gmail accounts in Thunderbird. One will send and receive perfectly. The other account receives but will not send emails and keeps asking for a password when doing so. Both use the same SMTP settings of course. This happens if the account is setup IMAP or POP3. The password is valid as the account will login online though any browser and also with windows 11 email app. I have removed and re-inslalled the rogue account several times but to no avail. Even copying the password from the browser password cache and pasting into Thunderbird does not work. Any ideas?

When I try to add a gmail account I first enter the email address and password which Tbird says it found the account and then I have a window pop up from accounts.google.com that again asked me to sign into google "One account all of Google" but this window does not find my gmail username/password. Hence I can't get any account "installed" into Tbird. I have this gmail account working in Outlook and mac mail for many years. What is wrong.

MANY Years of experience in this Industry has taught me that the Most "UNSTABLE" types of Files, across Numerous Different Manufacturers and Products are Email Files. Trying to Migrate (Often IMPORTANT) emails from one system to another as the Computer Industry advances too fast for its own good, OFTEN results in the LOSS of Data, and Duplicating the Contents of emails in different File Types, before Migrating, Compacting, or whatever, takes FAR TOO LONG. So I've learnt to LEAVE The Files ALONE and Try to keep Duplicates, when time permits. I'm a New User of Thunderbird (because my previous Microsoft Product was "losing" files) and today, for the First Time I was ask to allow Thunderbird to COMPACT its files. I worry that this will make the Files HARDER / SLOWER to Access, MORE LIKELY to be LOST, and LESS EASY to Migrate at some time in the future. My Computer has TONS of Unused Space, so I have no Personal Need to Recover the 230MB Thunderbird is telling me it will Free Up.

What is your recomendation - based Primarly on the RELIABILITY and SECURITY of my Data.

My primary calendar is on Google Calendar. My primary email is on Thunderbird. Sometimes people will send me a calendar invite to my T'bird email, and if I click on an option in the invite to link it to my calendar it ends up on a T'bird calendar that I almost never look at. Is there some way to link the T'bird calendar to the Google calendar so they will share entries and I can see everything from the T'bird calendar on my Google calendar?

Hi,

I have several Gmail accounts. I have been using Thunderbird for many years. POP3 I keep everything on my Desktop. I just got this from Google and I'm at a loss. Anyone have any idea if or how it will affect Thunderbird's login?

Google On May 30, you may lose access to apps that are using less secure sign-in technology ??????@gmail.com To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account (Link to my account) using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0.

What do you need to do?

Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other email software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google.

I have received notices from Google for all of my Gmail accounts that I have on Thunderbird that beginning in May 2022, an id and password will no longer be supported for "certain" apps. I am not sure if this includes Thunderbird - both for email and for calendar? Does it include Thunderbird and what must be done on Thunderbird to continue receiving email and calendar updates?
