I have set up PGP with the following guide: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/openpgp-thunderbird-howto-and-faq#thunderbird:linux:tb115

Under test set up it says I only have to ensure that the from: email is correct.

But what if I use a different reply-to email address?

for example:

  • Person A has a PGP is set up for PrsA@example.com, they also publish their public key in https://keys.openpgp.org/, Their reply-to email is PersonA-lastname@example.com
  • Person A sends email with PGP public key attached to Person B. Person A already has Person B's public key.
  • Person B receives the public key and saves the cert in relation to PersonA-lastname@example.com just to be sure they go to https://keys.openpgp.org/ to check but it is not there.
  • Person B sends an encrypted email to their only known address (personA-lastname@example.com) with the encryption public key provided.
  • Would Person A be able to receive the email?

tests I have done:

  • I tried this with edward-en@fsf.org and I get an email back saying: Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 Edward needs reply-to or from to be the same as envelope from
  • I tried this to myself and I am able to read the email.

I have an email conversation that's gone back and forth many times, with the other party including useful links for me. I noticed today that links are only live (blue, clickable) in the most recent email, if I scroll down to past emails in the chain, all links are plain text and not clickable. How can I make them all clickable please?

Hi Again,

I just enabled cookies in order to fix a connection problem with Google and Xfinity. While going through the process, I noticed a Facebook web address was pre-filled, and I immediately deleted it before realizing "block" and "allow" are both on that same page. Can someone please paste that link here so I can put it back where it was?

Thank you!

I have three accounts with sign/encrypt certificates. Prior to the update just now, they worked fine, and have for several years. Now after the update, when I try to send an email I get an error message: Sending of the message failed. Unable to sign message. Please check that the certificates specified in Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings for this mail account are valid and trusted for mail.

I get these messages in all three accounts with certificates. I checked the settings, and the certificates are correct.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi, Thunderbird 102.0.1.

I have a masterpassword set, but have difficulty to understand what purpose it serves.

1: Load Thunderbird 2: Click cancel when asked for a password(No password is being entered) 3: The password dialigbox closes and Thunderbird loads. 4: The dialogbox occurs again. 5: Click cancel four times(no password entered) and the dialogbox closes and I'm in in Thunderbird. 6: The unauthorize person can read my e-mails. 7: Not sure if he/she can send and receive messages.

Sorry for my limited english.

Is this a bug or by design?

Thank you!

I just received a malware spam that had an ISO malware attachment (filename something.pdf.iso). The email was not flagged as spam nor junk by Thunderbird.

Shouldn't Thunderbird be smart enough to flag any email with an ISO attachment as suspicious?

I have email filters set-up to delete any emails from senders who are not in my address book. However, if the email is missing the sender ("From:" tag missing) the email is retained. I would like an option to create a filter based on missing "From:" tag. This would help protect users from scams and junk emails.

I am nearly 73 years old, and well affected by Parkinson's Syndrome and vision AND am loosing my ability to walk, rtalk, and see. I don't recall fiddly details anywhere as well as in the past.

I think it would be an advantage to see what I am typing. The simplest error with a password can wreak havoc with one's time and sense of self. If there is something I can adjust, or if a brief bit of coding may well be a splendid help.

I get my Internet service through Xfinity but the account is in my wife's name & email. How does this affect the email/password I use when I set up a account? I have tried every combination I can think of and cannot get logged into TB! Very frustrating. Wouldn't it be easier to set up a TB User and PW and forget about the email provider? Seems to cause a lot of problems. Thanks!

When I receive an OpenPGP encrypted message, with encrypted subject, I get a blank message that shows "Subject ..." and no body. The OpenPGP icon above the message window shows a lock with a red slash through it. When I click that icon I get a dialog "Message Security - OpenPGP" which is what I expect. However, it also includes an error: "Message Cannot Be Decrypted There are unknown problems with this encrypted message"

The error log shows: rnp_op_verify_execute returned unexpected: 301989892 2 RNP.jsm:1151:17

The only relevant reports I could find were specific to Windows and fixed by the user going to the 32 bit version of Thunderbird. I have not tried that because it looks like an integration error with RNP, and googling RNP and Yubikey suggests a smartcards are not supported by RNP.

If I get encrypted content Thunderbird correctly invokes the pinentry program, and decrypts the message just fine. Extracting a portion from a working non-OpenPGP message looks like this:

Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="000000000000c3a59f05e3dd7e79"

--000000000000c3a59f05e3dd7e79 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"
