to backup TB on windows to my Pi, I mount the TB profile folder then rsync its contents to the backup drive on the Pi ( then rsync it later to an offsite backup, but a slow connection) The windows folder has a lot of *cache* folders/files - which i can exclude there are lot of folders with a ~ or ~~ at the end of the name I am assuming they are some sort of temprary folder that i can also ignore ? If i dont backup *Trash* does that mean the restore function should i need to use the backup isnt available . And I think I'll keep the *msf files - AIUI not essential but useful to have immediately available should I need to use the backup

anything else I can ignore for the backup

I am a long time (10+ yrs) user of Thunderbird. I recently deployed v104 on Ubuntu and find using the address book at less than half screen width difficult. Once a contact pane has been opened it covers most (all but 2+ entries) of the existing address list (see attached.) For me, this could be improved if a widget to close the contact window, otherwise I have to close and reopen the address book to clear the contact pane/window.

Is there a solution I am missing?

Thanks for your time, Andy

I got a new PC and set my accounts up but forgot to transfer over my address book, so I did that yesterday. When I went to the Local Folders (now called little blue filing cabinet) a whole bunch of folders had appeared that weren't there before. Most of them allowed me to delete them, but after closing Thunderbird and going back in, all the files again appeared. Does anyone have an idea how I can make them go away?! Any advice would be gratefully received. Lesley

Hi there,

I am stressed by notifications and e-mail sync during all day. Is it possible to only allow sync during specific time e.g. 12-15 or only on specific days?

If possible with different settings for different accounts.

I think there should be an add-on for that but I have not managed to find it. Do you know about it?

Hello

My pEp has been working fine for a year or so. I last used it about 1month ago, i did an OS update on my mac a week ago.... Today pEp stopped working saying internal error when trying to send a pEp message. See attachment.

I can send non pEp emails fine, I can receive non pEp emails fine. I am unable to decrypt pEp msgs atm.

I started out by trying to remove the extension. That failed so i had to remove via finder, library folder>profile etc…

reinstalled no change.

Uninstalled thunderbird, reinstalled thunderbird, reinstalled pEp. No change.

OS - Montery 12.6 Thunderbird - 102.4.2 (64-bit) pEp - 1.1.114

I have sent an email to pEp support, but my question to this forum is:

I used the troubleshoot mode, i left extension on and when it restarted it showed the extension as "on". However the extension did not run so i could not review the fault condition relating to the internal error.

I am certainly not an expert on the troubleshoot process but i was hoping that I may have gained some more info about the "internal error" message that may help.

Am i missing something in the process or should I expect the ext to work and give me something to work with?

Thanks in advance.

I am a longtime Thunderbird user. I have an installation with multiple email accounts in it that was migrated from an old computer some time ago. I used the method someone posted here. Find the profile folder, then go up three levels, copy the folders to the new installation. It worked fine.

It all works, but some of my accounts, I will be writing an email and I get a message that it could not save the draft, because of file access issues.

I suspect directory permissions from migrating this installation. Is there a way to troubleshoot this? Some accounts never have this problem, some have it more often, or always. If I write and send it before the automatic save draft times out it works fine. The mail is saved in the sent mail folder for that account.

These are mostly POP accounts, but some I have migrated to IMAP to solve a problem. I think this happens in some instances on both types.

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1. Next level
   1. Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Please help!

I want to add two bccs to an identity. I'm in Account Settings | Manage identities | the relevant identity | Copies & Folders Under "When sending messages, automatically:" there is a check box and text box "Bcc these email addreses:" With the check box checked and a single address entered into the text box, it works fine. I cannot see how to add two addresses into this box so they are both bcc'ed. I've tried address1@domain,address2@domain address1@domain address2@domain address1@domain; address2@domain <address1@domain>,<address2@domain> <address1@domain> <address2@domain> <address1@domain>;<address2@domain> description1<address1@domain>, description2<address2@domain> description1<address1@domain> description2<address2@domain> description1<address1@domain>;description2<address2@domain> With a comma or semicolon delimiter only the second address is bcc'ed. A space a delimiter doesn't work.

What format should I be using?

Hi,

I use many(!) different profiles. I would like my signature to be identical for all profiles except for the email address. Is there a way to do that?

Right now, if I want to change the content of my signature, I have to do it for all my profiles and that gets tedious when testing stuff out.

This is what it would look like:

My name What I do My email (this changes based on the profile)

Thanks,
