Thunderbird Support Forum

Yesterday I set up a new password. Then said sending a code. Cannot get the code as I can not get messages or send out messages on your site. My other device is my phone to get a code. I am only in your site as I kept clicking the screen several times and you popped up. Forgot my original password. I am getting your messages on Spectrum Webmail. At the end of January I could not sent out an email; then could not receive an email. Was working fine up to then. Do not know what happened. Just want to get back on Thunderbird as I have important folders and my contacts.

I can get e-mail no issue but sending them i get this: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out. Try again.

I checked everything and all the setting are correct. I only changed the password on the Spectrum site and changed it in my account settings.

I can send thrugh my gmail e-mail account just fine.

I disabled the firewall and virus scanner on my PC as well. Checked with spectrum and everything is set right. Trouble shoot info below:

I removed a gmail account from Thunderbird. It is no longer displayed. Yet every time I open Thunderbird I get gmail message asking me to validate my log in to that removed account. I cannot get into this new gmail account via google because I have used my phone number on too many other gmail accounts - this is tyhe reason gmail keeps pestering me. If it's not in Thunderbird then surely i shouldn't be pestered by google.

I am on a new install of windows 11 (from new windows 10). I can log into Gmail on the browser(Firefox) fine. I set allowing cookis and all the other stuff I could find but I can NOT get gmail to work.

Also when I try to send an email (new message) it comes up with Newgroup where the recipient email should be

The S/MIME e-signature does not function. (The problem occurred recently.) The system can not find the certificate (the certificate is valid, it is QCA23....73.crt). How the system searches for it? What should I set in Thunderbird to find it? The openPGP functions well.

My office is running Thunderbird 115. I recently changed the password. This seemed to work OK. But on restarting TB I found the new password had not been stored. The Password Manager display is empty, so I cannot edit anything, nor can I insert a new entry into the Manager. I want to store the current password. How do I do this?

Server at mailin.telia.com will not accept my new passwords for two of my accounts, and does not ask for password, when trying to gett mail via Thunderbird. Webmail and Mail in iOS on iPad works problemfree. Is there no place in Settings for Thunderbird where I can put in password? Haven't found any. So far T has always asked for PW when new account. Never had a problem before.

Thunderbird 115.2.1 for MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 on iMac (mid 2011)

My ISP suggested I change my password, and I did so. I also deleted the stored passwords, and followed the direction supplied, in the help section "Did your ability to receive mail suddenly stop? Was it working before?" it also explained "Close and re-open Thunderbird. You will be prompted to enter a new password for the account."

I'm not getting the prompt, and I'm unable to input the new password. How can I resolve this issue?

In our company, we have recently updated Thunderbird from version 52.3.0 to 115.9.0. Now we have a problem with href links containing file URIs in our messages. We often receive file links pointing to files in our local intranet, which look like this: <a href="file://///intranet.local/dfs/output/movie.mp4" class="moz-txt-link-freetext" moz-do-not-send="true">movie.mp4</a> Up to Thunterbird version 98.0b3 it was possible to open these files by simply clicking the link. But since version 99.0b1 file links don't open any more. Instead, the error console displays the following message: Security Error: Content at mailbox:///C:/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/profilename/Mail/Local%20Folders/Inbox?number=12345 may not load or link to file://///intranet.local/dfs/output/movie.mp4. Fortunately, it is possible to open the link with "Open Link In Browser" from the context menu. But we would like to get rid of this extra click. I already followed the steps in this document: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_do_not_work#Firefox_1.5.2C_Mozilla_1.8.2C_and_newer Interestingly, this document is older than the time, when our problem was introduced into Thunderbird. To put my question in a nutshell: How can I open file links by left-clicking on them, just the way they open, when I right-click on them and select "Open Link In Browser"?

Steps to reproduce: On a Windows computer create a new mail. Press Ctrl-K to insert a link. Enter the following path with username replaced by your windows logon name: file:///C:/Users/username/Documents Save and close the mail. Watch the mail in the drafts folder. Click the link. Nothing happens, but you can see a message in the error console. Right click the link and select "Open Link In Browser". This opens your windows explorer.

Any solution is welcome, even if it's potentially insecure, since our computers don't have any internet access and we can receive internal mail only.

I'd really like the ability to whitelist a domain rather than add an email address to the address book. I work with booking websites that create unique email addresses for each booking and they keep ending up in spam. I'd like to be able to whitelist the domain they're coming from instead of trying to train the spam cannon that they are not an issue.

WTF did you guys do? I updated today, and now it's asking for passwords continually, and it's not even showing all the emails. I've entered passwords for each account 3 times already and it won't stop asking.

I want to install a lock on my mailbox. I thought two factor authentication is the best way to do so. However, I do not see any info about 2fa and Thunderbird. What I do see is: info about Open PGP key and S-MIME certificats to encrypt messages. I think both adds to security, however, it appears to me that the 2fa is the real lock and encrypting messages is useful in case the lock hasn't worked well: the messages can be read by a third person, but not understood. Is that right? And do I understand it correctly that there's no 2FA option for thunderbird? Is encrypting messages as safe and convenient as 2FA?

Hopefully someone could help me out...I'm a non-techie as you might already assume;), hopefully this can be taken into account..

I've created (multiple times) a app password on https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword. I let Thunderbird autodetect the servers which seems to work ( (imap) outlook.office365.com:993 and smtp.office365.com:587 )

But the password is rejected. The user interface in Thunderbird is bit unclear what exactly fails. Is there a possibility to see where in the handshake to connection is rejected?
