I recently archived locally about 10 years worth of emails successfully (the emails were removed from the my ISP's servers and I opted for a yearly format). I can easily find these in Thunderbird but of course they are not on the mail server anymore.

Settings info: I have Message Archives set to "Archives on Local Folder" followed by my email address (I set it up with this name so that I can find the archives specifically for backup by my Sinology server).

However, my Sent folder (shows a paper airplane icon) is missing, although I also downloaded it and thought it would be saving locally.

When I verified my Archive options in TB, I noticed that while I had selected "Yearly archived folders" I did not select "Keep existing folder structure of archived messages". I assume that this is a mistake on my part?

My questions are: Q1. Where are my Sent emails - would they be mixed in with received messages in each yearly archive? Q2. How do I access these sent emails within the TB search window?

Any advice and suggestions would be most appreciated and thank you. C.

bold text All of a sudden today Saturday the 11th Thunderbird stopped sending email on COX but it can receive them. It was working fine then all of a sudden the sending of email stopped. At first I thought that is was Cox being down again, (I've had connection problems this week). But while I was trying to figure it out I received a number of emails. I tried sending a test email to myself usually they go right away but it did not go.

I called Cox. They tech connected to my computer, made some checks, (updated Thunderbird) and after about 20 minutes it started to send messages. 10 minutes later it stopped working AGAIN. This started a four hour telephone marathon with just about every level of service that Cox has. I ended up with Complete Care and while I was on the phone with him and he was connected to my computer the service tech from Cox who was here to check my signal and modem showed up. He tried to look at the problem and could not figure it out. Note I can send and receive mail from the COX email website but and only receive email in Thunderbird.

Cox tells me it is a Mozilla or Thunderbird problem I'm telling them it is not that it is a Cox problem because the server is SENDING me email to Thunderbird but the Cox INCOMING mail server it not connecting to Thunderbird to receive emails. They claim that because I can send and receive on the web page but can not send with Thunderbird. I'm telling them it is a Cox problem.

Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have a solution? I'm shutdown here with over a 25 year history of emails sitting in Thunderbird.

HI,

I am trying to get my email message list to have the same vertical view as I did with Outlook instead of the spread-out view that Thunderbird uses as default. I wanted this compact so I can view the message in a larger window in vertical view. I have a screenshot with two examples. The top portionos Thunderbird and the bottom is Windows Mail (I didn't use Outlook as I uninstalled it, but the format is nearly the same view in WM). To read the subect/sender I have to drag that column to the left to see the contents and it's off-putting. The left column in WM with message windos is the view I want.

Thnx, Tom

I'm doing some Mailmerges and use the "send later" option. But although I can see the messages in the Outbox, the "Send Unsent Messages" option is greyed out. Also, if I restart Thunderbird, a dialog pops up asking me whether I want to send unsent messages, I click "Send now", but nothing happens; the unsent messages remain in the Outbox. The same thing happens if I create a message and use the "Send later" option. Any idea how I can fix this? It's only just started happening; previously, this feature worked just fine.

Since Verizon switched to AOL I have had email problems. I have two verizon.net addresses and one tampabay.rr.com. After finding help in the forum for creating a temporary app password I have been able to send Verizon email but not receive. The tampabay.rr.com works for sending and receiving. I have tried multiple times to fix but one of two things happen: dialog box says "sending email" but doesn't complete, or it continues to ask for a new password. AOL web mail works fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dell laptop recently updated to windows 11, Thundebird 91.7.0 (64-bit).

why when setting up gmail account, do I get a message "error Incoming server already exists."? It seems since updating to TB 91.7.0 (32-bit) one of my gmail accounts stopped getting emails, I still get them on my smart phone and on an older pc that has TB 78.14.0 (32-bit) but not on my primary pc. so since the primary was set to pop and the older pc was imap I tried switching it to imap but couldn't so I deleted the account and reset it up but after entering everything I keep getting that error! TIA Tom

Inconsistent behaviour in opening links (sometimes browser, sometimes internally)

Thunderbird 91.7.0 (64-bit), Windows 10. Brand-new profile: Thunderbird just reinstalled after uninstalling previous version and deleting all profiles (in Windows' "Roaming" user folders etc).

For some emails containing links, clicking on the link open in my default system browser: Firefox.

For some emails, instead, clicking on a link opens it in a new Thunderbird tab instead of Firefox.

Example of the first behaviour is an email from Google Scholar. Example of the second is an email from a flight company.

In either case, when I hover over the link with the mouse I see the address "https://..." etc in the status bar.

Expected behaviour: all web links should open in default browser.

Any ideas of why this strange inconsistent behaviour and how to correct it? Cheers!

Having trouble with Thunderbird version 84.0b3 (32 bit)

I have done some house keeping and reduced a number of email accounts and local folders dramatically e.g. one local folder from 1626MB to 88MB.

When I look at size for the local folder it says 18 messages (correct) but 1626MB. If I select all 18 a message says "These messages take up 88.7 MB."

This is confirmed by rerunning MozBackup where after deletion of 15))MB+ messages it still shows the same size .pcv file.

Why is Thunderbird still holding over 1500MB of non-existent messages.

Any advice please?
