Hello!

I am a long-time thunderbird/Eudora user and my question is about mailbox line padding and font size. From what I have read, I need to use a userChrome.css file in my thunderbird profile.

I created the file at /Users/myusername/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/chrome/

Is that the correct location? It has no effect on the mailbox appearance.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Best,

Ed

Some emails I have received are being put into a Spam folder by Thunderbird but there is no Spam folder visible and they have [spam} inserted into the subject header and emaisl from this sender have never been received anywhere but my Inbox.

I have to search all messages to find out where the message has gone and it shows as in a Spam folder. I then have to flag it as Junk, go to my Junk folder and flag it as Not Junk before it appears in my Inbox.

I am using POP3 email accounts and Thunderbird 102.7.0 (64-bit) and have never had this issue before.

I have attached 3 screenshots showing: 1) The email on the account server showing that there is no [spam} in the subject title. 2) The email as picked up by Mailwasher Pro and as it is highlighted in green, this shows that Mailwasher Pro has identified it as friendly according to my Spam settings and again, no [spam] in the subject title. 3) The email in Thunderbird after I moved it into my Inbox but you can see [spam] has been added to the subject title!

I have looked at other posts relating to this so it definitely appears to be a problem and if I could at least see the Spam folder, I would have a temporary workaround until this is fixed so if anyone can tell me how to see the Spam folder, that would help at least for now!

Thanks.

I have 2 Thunderbird intallations and I want to keep the folder content synchronized, or at least export . The first option I thought of was export messages filters to import them in the other installation, so folders wil be filled in the same way. But ... I only see possibility of exporting the whole profile. (8Gb) In the profile I can't find files that are related to this issue. Is there anything for message filters, like the way you can ex/import mailadresses? And if not, how can I proceed best?

Thanks for improving Thunderbird!

I very much like the new card view! However, I am missing the small green unread-button, that I also use to change the status of the mail in the table view. As I use the unread status to sort mails and keep mails up on the list. To quickly change the read status back is part of my way of organising my work. Of course there is a menu and a context menu but all this requires more moves. Can I customise what I can see and interact with on a card?

I had my userCrome.css set to widen line spacing in the message list, among other things. Updating to Þb 115 broke this, and since I can't inspect the css, I don't know how to fix this again.

My current css includes:

/* Message List */

  1. threadTree

treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text {

   font-size: 16pt !important;
   color: black !important

}

/* treechildren::-moz-tree-row {

   margin-top: 0pt !important;
   margin-bottom: 6pt !important;

} */

treecol:not([hideheader="true"]), treecolpicker:not([hideheader="true"]) { -moz-appearance: none !important; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; }

treecol:not([hideheader="true"]):hover, treecolpicker:not([hideheader="true"]):hover { }

I tried relaxed density, but it expands *everything*, not just the message list.

Also, in Firefox, how can I use this site and avoid all the animated headers?

I went to settings, general, Language and Appearance and under advanced changed fonts to 24, 20 and 20 while checking off the font control boxes. None of these changes the size of the text in the body of the text. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded from 91.13.0 to 102

In my 91.13.0 I had the Classic view and Folder Pane and Message Pane ticked in Layout - View.

Over the years I am used to seeing the Message Preview at the top of the right hand side of the screen and the Messages List below it. However. Now in 102 those two are reversed. Message preview at the bottom and message list above.

It's been so long that I did this layout in many many versions ago and I can't remember how I did it.

I've tried everything I can think of.

Does anyone know how to swap the right hand side Message and Preview panes around from top to bottom?

Thanks in advance

Hello dear Mozilla (or should I say Thunderbird) crew and community,

Some months ago, in December 2022 I think, under Windows 10, my Firefox webbrowser got started whenever I started Thunderbird, showing a request for donation screen. Having enjoyed the benefits of Thunderbird for a long time, I thought it was reasonable to donate. I hoped the screen would disappear after this, but it didn't. I have searched for solutions to get rid of it, because it slows down TB whenever I want to look into my emails. But sofar, without success. The only things I DID find were that I can get rid of the screen under Linux (as a normal user). Under Windows I can start TB 'as Administrator' and then remove the URL (see below) from the settings. But as I recall it, it reappeared after a couple of restarts of TB even in this case. And starting TB as Administrator gives me no access to my emails which are stored under my user account. Removing the URL, by the way, can not be done through the normal settings screens. I had to go to the "hamburger" menu icon and then select Settings, scroll all the way down and then click on the Configuration Editor button. There I found these three related parameters and their values:

app.donation.eoy.url = https//www.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/102.0/eoy/ app.donation.version = 1 app.donation.eoy.version.viewed = 1

My questions:

1) Why can't I remove the URL for the "end-of-year" donation screen as a normal Windows user?

  Every time I delete it, it's back the next time I start TB.
 (for God's sake, it's almost April by now and I DID donate at year's end ;-)

2) The file 'prefs.js' in my user mail profile/directory seems to hold part of my settings, but it states "DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE". Could I define a 'user.js' file to actually circumvent my inability to remove the URL through the Configuration Editor? 3) Or even better: what IS the right way to remove the donation screen in my situation; or put differently: is this an error (f.e. with user rights) in the Windows version of TB not present in the Linux version?

Thank you in advance for your help or suggestions,

Hello, I've been forced to migrate from a legacy program (Microsoft Essentials Live Mail) which supported MAPI, because it has insufficient security to connect to a gmail account. Some time ago I inquired if Thunderbird supported MAPI and was told that it did support simple MAPI, which is all I require for simply sending and receiving emails via a specialty App I created in Visual Basic 6 that runs automatically on a PC running Windows 10.

As stated there has been no issues using Live Mail, until Google changed it's security requirements as of 6/6/22. To access Live Mail via the VB6 MAPI controls, I simply needed to make Live Mail the Default mailer. After installing Thunderbird [91.10.0 (64 bit)], I successfully setup the same Gmail account I was using in Live Mail, and made Thunderbird the default mailer. I tried using the VB6 app, but it declares an error when attempting to send a message. When using Live Mail, the App didn't need to be running, a MAPI-send would automatically launch a abbreviated version of Live Mail that would send the message then automatically terminate. I tried this first with Thunderbird, that gave the first error. I then tried having Thunderbird running, but a MAPI-send still failed.

After reading some of past Thunderbird posts on MAPI issues, I noticed a post that suggested my VB6 32 bit App would not be able to connect with the 64bit version of Thunderbird, that I would need the 32 bit version of Thunderbird.

I would appreciate any thoughts on what may be causing the MAPI connection issue with Thunderbird.

X. P.S. Unfortunately the VB6 App, in it's current form does not post a specific error, which would no doubt be some indecipherable MS message; It just states the operation being performed (Send) where the error occurred.

I'm trying to switch over from Outlook, which I've been using for like 20 years, to Thunderbird completely. My ISP keeps jerking us around with account setting within Outlook and I'm tired of messing with them. One thing I did in Outlook was use one email as a document/notepad. All I had to do was open the message and then select 'Edit Message' under 'Other Actions'. Basically I was now in MS Word editing a document. Does Thunderbird have any comparable tool? I tried the Add-On 'Header Tools Lite' but the text wasn't plain text. OR, is there a way to open a MS document within the Thunderbird program? If I can't edit the contents of a message's body maybe I could open a Word document from within Thunderbird and do my editing. Thanks in advance. BTW - Thunderbird is sure a nicely put together mail program. I use it all the time even before the switch.
