Google calendar allows color-coding of events - but the display is highly inadequate. T-bird 128 calendar apparently HAS no option to color events. But events are FAR easier to see WHEN color-highlighted. Would this be a difficult option??

Like the subject says 'updated from 115 to 128.1.1esr and now (icloud) calendars wont sync'

I understand tb doesnt need tbsync anymore, do i remove these? When i try and enable the calendar function, a 'authentication required' windows opens up with username and password. But fails when the correct information is entered. I read where you can go to google, which i did, and get the required information, but that fails also.

How can I sync the new 128.1.1esr with my icloud calendars?

Thanks!

For years I have used the extension 'Calendar Tweaks' because it colorizes the entire event in the calendar. This extension is no longer compatible with versions of Thunderbird after 74 so I have stop updation after Version 69. However in resolving problems with authorization I needed to update to the current Version of Thunderbird so my events in the calendar now just show the category color at the edge of the box instead of the entire box. Is there a way in Thunderbird to colorize the entire event box or another extension that does this.

I had to reformat my computer. No problem with managing profile and all emails and folders, etc are ok. However, my calendar is blank!

Is the calendar not stored in your profile? Have I really lost all my dates and appointments?

I updated to the new Thunderbird 115. I imported my folders etc with no issue with only 1 little problem - my local folders are in between my 2 email accounts and I can't seem to move it down but not a big deal.

The real problem is my calendar events. I had a very full calendar and after the update, my calendar is empty and blank. I have no idea what to do. Everything else imported fine. The calendar is the only calendar I use. Hope someone can help.

Thank you Norma

Thunderbird 102.6.1, Windows 11

Over the last several updates to Tbird (can't say exactly when it started), my Google calendar seldom gets updated, and then seemly only at random times. The "synchronize calendars" command has no effect. A week or more can go by with no update, although my computer is always on and connected to the internet. Exiting and restarting Tbrird does not help. Eventually th calendar updates itself, unpredictably.

When I add an event to the Google calendar in Tbird, it shows up immediately in other instances of the Google calendar, such as on my phone. So we know that Tbird calendar is talking to Google, if only in one direction.

I didn't see this problem mentioned in any of the help articles. If others have reported this problem in the Community, I didn't find the thread. Any suggestions?

I have 10 subscribed calendars to sync and all but 3 are from different sources. myical.ics, Hawks.ics and F1-2023.ics are from the same source (a folder on my web site - www.peterashby.com/events/). Hawks.ics and F1-2023.ics work fine, as do the other 8, but myical.ics does not display (so I don't know if it syncs or not). This only started happening yesterday. myical.ics syncs perfectly in google calendar and passes a couple of ics validation tests. I tried a new profile but the problem remains the same.

Any ideas please ?

Before a Thunderbird Lightning event starts, how to send an email reminder(s)?

Hi all Thunderbird enthousiast :)

In version 102, using the Lightning Calendar, when creating or editing a calendar event, how do I automatically send an email reminder(s) before the event start?

I tried. But Lightning "Set up Reminders" window offers only the "Show an alert" option. The number 6 in this screenshot shows the location of this challenge at https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2023-08-07-12-50-55-b4905f.png

What I need is, still in this screenshot above, 1 hour before this event starts, Lightning to automatically send an email message reminder to a preset email address(es).

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Below is the same question as above. But with details if you're interested in those.

Steps to reproduce this challenge:

1. Using Thunderbird Lightning, click on the "Event" button to create a new Calendar event

2. The "New Event" window will open

3. Using this "New Event" window above, using its "Reminder" field, select the "Custom..." option. The numbers 1 et 2 in this screenshot show this at https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2023-08-07-12-49-18-5d2120.png

5. The "Set up Reminders" window will open

6. Using this "Set up Reminders" window above, open the "Choose a Reminder Action" menu. Lightning offers only the "Show an alert" option. This screenshot shows the location of this challenge at https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2023-08-07-12-50-55-b4905f.png

7. My question is this, 1 hour before this event starts, how to configure Lightning to automatically send an email message reminder(s) to a preset email address(es)?

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Suggestion:

• If somehow Thunderbird version 102 is not yet able to send an email alert, then this is a suggestion for a new future. I'll try to create a new suggestion at https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/idb-p/ideas Then I'll try to add the link here. • I recall that in a previous version of Thunderbird Lightning, its "Set up Reminders" window offered multiples options to choose from. Including "Show an alert" or "Send an email message". Could part of the previous Thunderbird code be recycled for Thunderbird 102? • If needed, both me and the Ubertus.org team would be happy to contribute beta testing and documentation for this new feature. Any volunteer for a patch?

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

What I tried that did not work:

• Clicked on the "Choose a Reminder Action" drop down menu. Only one option is available. It reads "Display alert". • Double-checked that the calendar is a Network Calendar (CalDAV) • Double-checked that the calendar "Properties" as an email address associated to it • Added my email address to the list of Attendees. This does send email notifications. But only on Event creation or event changes. This is not what I need. What I need is, for exemple, 1 hour before an event start, send an email message to be automatically sent to a set email address(es). Assuming that during this period I leave my Thunderbird both open and connected. • Searched for add-on about email alert at https://addons.thunderbird.net/fr/thunderbird/extensions/ I found none able to send email alert before an event start.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Synonyms of calendar event email reminder:

• email alert • alarm mailing • reminder action • send email reminder • thunderbird notification by email message

This morning there was an update to Thunderbird. When I reopen the program I can no longer see the right end of the screen. There is no toolbar to scroll over to see that side, and I've been unable to resolve this in the settings. I am using Density > Compact and I do not have any add-ons installed. See screen capture. I will have to stop using TB if this can't be resolved.

I added the United States Holiday Calendar to my Thunderbird Calendar.

As it has zilliions more holidays than I care to see (World Pneumonia Day, for example) I would like to remove it. I added it as an internet supplied calendar, not stored on my computer.

Can someone please tell me how to remove it entirely? Also, is there a different, more modest calendar I might add somewhere out there?

Thanks in advance for the assistance. I have searched for a way to do this but have not found anything.

Hello,

Just started using Thunderbird for its calendar, but I can't find the settings for Calendar Events. I am aware that I can select a specific calendar and go to its Properties Window, but I want to access the app's settings for all calendars. Research shows that there should be a Calendar tab in the app's settings tab, but it isn't there for me. I only have the General, Composition, Privacy & Security, and Chat tabs. Can someone please help me get this tab to appear?

Thanks!

I've been using Thunderbird for work for a few years and a few months ago my calendar integration with my Google Calendar stopped working. I've tried everything I can think of including re-installing calendars, but without success. My Thunderbird at home can still accept invites, but not on my work computer despite verifying that the calendar address and such is the same.

Initially, when I'd click 'Accept' on an invite, nothing would happen (ie no prompt, failure etc), the invite would just stay there without response. Now it's asking me if I want to link it with one of two different calendars I have, both of which I've verified under the calendar on Thunderbird that it isn't associated with an email address (has the yellow bar at the top saying if you want to use this calendar to store invitations you need to associate with an email address).

I can't think of what to do for next steps for troubleshooting, any thoughts?

Hi, I have set-up 2 calendars for my 2 email addresses on Thunderbird email client with Provider for Google Calendar, and besides the invites, the calendars work well with 2 way sync, etc.

Problem is when I accept an email invite on Thunderbird from either account it automatically goes to one calendar and not the other and I can't find a way to get it to the proper calendar.

- One calendar is from MS Exchange/Outlook (synced with Thunderbird) where all invites go - One calendar is my Google/GMail calendar (synced with Thunderbird) where invitations do not go Interestingly on my Google Web version (Google Calendar site, not Thunderbird) the invites are properly allotted to the right calendars. So I am guessing it’s my Thunderbird setup.

Have attached 4 screenshots: - Calendars listed - Settings for the MS Exchange calendar - Settings for the Google calendar - Screen where I accept the invite. The invite is sent to the Gmail address and the response is the proper Gmail address. Also something odd about me "not being on the list" shows up whenever I accept from any account.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi All,

Need help with linking a file to a calendar reminder (event).

In Outlook I used to be able to easily link a local file located in a specified folder on my computer. For eg: I would link a .pdf invoice for my electricity bill in a folder on my computer. I would create the event to remind me I had to pay this invoice and after creating the reminder link that PDF invoice to the event and when I clicked on it, it would open the invoice using Acrobat reader or whatever other PDF reader I assigned.

I tried to attach the link using the "website" attachment tab to the event in T'bird calendar and assigned Acrobat to open the file (invoice). Acrobat does open, but returns an error saying it can't find the .pdf file. The file is definitely in the nominated folder and the link to it is correct but file doesn't open. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Any assistance much appreciated. Thank You
