My emails lost the signature I had before so I tried to add it again in Account Settings. Looks ok until I start a new email - shows tons of encoding.

The email address that I have used ever since email began has been [edited] @qis.net. Unfortunately, the inbox storage space on Quantum Internet Service (QIS) is only 1GB. I use Thunderbird for emails (recommended by QIS). The account with QIS is an IMAP account.
Yesterday at 4:40pm my inbox became full even though I have moved a bunch of the emails with larger attachments to offline folders within Thunderbird. That's when the nightmare started. No incoming emails can get delivered at this time. Have been in contact with QIS (I personally know everyone there including the owners. They're good people) It seems that we do not have a way to get into the inbox and remove files from their server (s).
After working all night trying to sole this mess, I have set up a new email address to maintain a form of communications on a major engineering project.
The new email address for me should be changed to : [edited] @gmail.com
Please make this change at Firefox. When I try to login on Firefox, it sends a code to the old, non-usable email address. Since the inbox at QIS is full, I can't read it to get the code to respond. If the code can be sent SMS to my cell phone, that would be fine. [removed phone# from public support forum] is the number to use.
I hope all this makes some sense at your end. I am not a guru with this stuff and a very dear friend of mine who was an "IT guru", as I called him, has passed away about 1 year ago.

How do I get mail from the 'sent' folder on an old laptop into a new one? I have migrated old received mail and contacts to the new inbox no problem.
Using the export tool is no use - the Zip folder it creates titled 'Thunderbird_profile_backup' is corrupted and nothing can open it. I manually copied all files into an external drive and opened them in the new Thunderbird. That imported contacts but not mail from the old 'sent' folder. How do I get all those old sent mails out of the old device?

They are going into a folder with both my email account addresses i.e. if i send an email from my email account sandy.bell3@bigpond.com it goes into a folder of that email name & the same for my business email account it goes into a folder named csb.wandpc@bigpond.com which came up that obviously was created by you. In earlier version of Thunderbird I could type in the name of a sub folder address book, Thunderbird would recognize it and add all the entries automatically. Now, in the new improved version, this doesn't happen and the only way I can see of adding the names is to manually select and add all the members of the book. AND THERE AREN'T ANY MENU OPTIONS THAT ARE APPARENT TO BRING UP THE MAIN WINDOW! What?! Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to bring up the main window with my message list if it isn't already showing? (And please don't tell me to go to Settings. That worked, indirectly, but it's the least intuitive approach I think I've ever seen.)

I have used Thunderbird for years with no problems and one of my computers does work. But this computer will not. Here is the error I receive: Sending of the message failed.
