Hi!

I'm trying to help my elderly father with Thunderbird, but I just can't get it the way he used to have it.

The problem is that he wants to have a reading pane below the list of emails, and he no longer can make the list of emails show less, like only three emails or so. Because he has poor eye sight, he needs to have Windows on low resolution, and because of this, only half of his screen is used for actual showing the content of the email.

I have attached a screenshot of his screen, and as you can see, the reading pane at the bottom shows very little of the email. He can of course double click on it to get a full screen view, but he would prefere not to. So what he is asking for is how to make the box with the list of emails smaller, the box that is right above the reading box.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Regards, Ulf

I am trying to get a constant font size on all screens ; have gone into settings and account settings; the problem I am finding is that there are various paths that tend to be confusing for trying to have a constant one style or "font" for all screens ; have tried day after day to achieve, and there has to be something I am not doing; is providing a telephone or email for someone to help me?

I've used Thunderbird for decades. I have about a dozen email accounts I monitor. I leave my emails on the server until I click on "Get Message" and I download my emails to my PC.

I'm not sure if I accidentally changed a setting, but when an account detected a new email, I'm pretty sure it used to change the account name font color to blue so I knew that there was a message to retrieve. Now it doesn't do that anymore. I still get aural notifications, but I don't know which account they are associated with.

So the problem is, I'm getting emails and I don't know it because some of the accounts are used sparsely. I have to manually check all of my accounts all day long now.

Does anyone know if this is something Tbird changed or is there a setting I accidentally changed (and can change back)?

I have set a preferred font for email messages in Thunderbird (Times, Medium), and it works fine - mostly. If I move the cursor to the bottom of the message (intentionally or by mistake), the font switches.

In the upper part of the message the format/font is listed as "Body Text" and "Times", but if I end up at the bottom of the message it switches over to "Preformat" and "Fixed Width". When this happens, the message ends up with two formats/fonts -- or I have to select all the text and reset the font for the entire message....

I included a screen shot of the sample text when I enter it at the top and bottom of the message.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this and just have a single font/format as the default for the entire message? Thanks!

I hate this feature - too much like gmail's email listing on an Android phone (which is very confusing).

Hello, I read somewhere that grouped folders were not possible with IMAP accounts. But with Win 11, TB 115.6.0 (64-bit) they definetly CAN be created and they are ALSO DISPLAYED (see pic). In order to display folders even more specifically, after that you can also make individual grouped folders favorite folders and display them as such. ONE / THE ONLY PROBLEM: If you close TB and open it again, those (and even no) folders are displayed anymore. However, the grouped folders and their settings are still there and will (only) be displayed again if you check the appropriate box for their display. I hope that it's not that difficult - and would be excellent - to implement so that the grouped folders and favorite folders (and also the "normal" or all previously displayed folders) and their view are just displayed unchanged even after restarting TB. So, in the simplest case, it's just a matter of the appropriate checking of the box for the folders display are set "automatically" when you restart TB / the computer (at least for the grouped folders, but keeping the Favorites folder would also be good, of course). In addition, after restarting TB, you wouldn't be shocked that all email accounts or folders seem to have disappeared. Could this be FIXED / IMPLEMENTED PLEASE? Then TB would be perfect! Thanks in advance. Pat

I had finally found how to change to color of unread emails from blue to a red color (called tomato) that was easily detected when I scan my email folders.

I finally found how to edit the "chrome" file and the updates *generally* left this adjustment alone.

With the newest ( for me) version 115.6.0 I'm back to the annoying Thunderbird Blue color. Due to the massive changes in the UI I don't know if I have the expertise to regain that red color.

Can someone who understands the current Thunderbird 115.6.0 provide me with instructions for this change? TIA

Thunderbird build: 115.6.0 (64-bit) My "deleted messages" list shows 3 messages from the last two days. I have lost all other deleted messages and I cannot find anything in Account Setting or Settings that can stop it doing that. This has been going on for weeks.
