When I open an email it opens one of my jpg photos. Even though I've changed the title of the photo. I did a reinstall of Thunderbird but it didn't help. One e-mail from my bank said I had an important document attached to read. There was no text in the main part of the e-mail only my photo! The title of my photo is shown as the attachment. If I click on it it opens up my photo. I've deleted the photo and it still does it. So TB has stored it somewhere? When I look at the photo path it shows this:- C:\Users\BARRIN~1\AppData\Local\Temp\pid-1316\B.G.S. RSPB Langford Reserve. Joe Harris 26-08-20 (4)-1.jpg So I deleted this folder pid-1316. Every time I click on the link it makes another 'pid' folder!

I followed Mozilla's instructions on backing up my 'profile' just in case I lost all my messages. It's getting that I daren't open an e-mail with an attachment in case I can't see it, only my jpg. HELP Please.

I am a long-time user and fan of Thunderbird (various platforms).

I am currently using Thunderbird v 128.2.3esr (64-bit) on a 2018 Mac Mini (specs below). I do not use the Calendar or Chat features of TB. TB is configured to use the "macOS Address Book" (i.e. Mac's "Contacts") - and this is a critical feature for me.

I recently upgraded from MacOS v12.7.6 (Monterey) to MacOS v14.7 (Sonoma).

Now there is a significant delay of at least 10 seconds (sometimes accompanied with the dreaded spinning beach ball) upon starting TB. The sequence is like this:

1) Start TB 2) Primary Password Required dialogue box appears instantly 3) After entering the password and hitting return to sign in TB "Home" window appears but is blank 4) After a 10 second delay (sometimes with the beach ball appearing) the TB window completely opens, populated in the normal manner. 5) TB then seems to operate normally.

I have read article "https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1421395". I can confirm that if I "disable Thunderbird's access to Mac Contacts in Mac Settings" then there is no delay noted in step 4 above. So it seems the delay does result from having TB access the macOS Address Book.

BUT it is a critically important feature for TB to utilize the macOS Address Book (Contacts).

I sync Mac Contacts across devices via iCloud, so TB will have access to the current collection of addresses, and I need only use one application to maintain my contacts.

I can live with the startup delay, disappointing though it is, because I find TB to be the best email application.

I do not know if the same issue occurs with the recently released macOS 15.x (Sequoia) - and I'm not ready or willing to upgrade to that version for a multitude of reasons.

It would be nice if the wonderful developers would investigate and resolve this delay issue.

Comments, tricks, and pointers most welcome.

After a power outage I now get this message on all three of my computers but only on some accounts:

"An error occurred while sending mail, The mail server responded: <1234@roadrunner.com> sender rejected. The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. Please check your SMTP settings, AUP#Out-1500. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."

I know what that means but I'm very confused because I use and have always used ONE <default> smpte for all my accounts and never had a problem until now. Thunderbird even gives the user a choice of whether to use one default account or separate smpte password statements for each account. I still can't send when I try to enter separate urls and/or passwords for each account. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks, Joe

I am unable to add a subfolder in Thunderbird, delete a folder, or rename them. I am able to copy a folder to another account.

I right-click on a folder, select "add subfolder" and nothing happens, the same when I right-click "rename" or "delete". I just started using the dark mode theme and relaxed density. When I switch back to defaults settings, I still have the same issue.

My message filters do not run. They appear to be properly set up. They don't work, even when I select "Run Filters on Folder", under the Tools Menu.

Here are my Filter Rules for one of them:

  • Apply filter when: Manually Run (checked) Getting New Mail: Filter before Junk Classification (also checked)
  • Match "Any of the following"
  • From Is (sender's email address)
  • Perform these actions: Move Message To (Junk on my email address)

I am using Thunderbird version 128.1esr (64 bit), Thunderbird Windows MSIX package, Thunderbird-MSIX-10 My system is Windows 11 Home version 23H2

Automatic updates is on, and I have current version. T-Bird is ~ 100 times better, more user friendly than Netzero's email format, so I really want to use it.

Is it possible to download Thunderbird onto an older windows 7 computer to collect my emails from a server where they still exist? (It is going to shut down soon.! ) I am currently using Outlook 2016 & POP and need to upgrade to a new PC and wish to take all my emails going back to 2018, when I go to it, In a form that I can read.! I understand taking emails to a new PC is fairly easy with Thunderbird which is why I want to come to you.

After I have downloaded all my old emails from old server using POP, Can I change Thunderbird to receive from the new server which is IMAP .? and can this change be made seamlessly within the Thunderbird programe so as to then continue receiving mails as normal? Please confirm this is all possible

Hi there,

So, I have a professional account with outlook.office365.com for my professional email (which is aleclercq@sobemab.fr). But I use my personal email to contact you right now. We have Black in Mail operating for all new email and then I can't get email from you unless you authenticate yourself.

Anyway, my configuration is : HP computer, windows 11 Professional (build 22631.4112) Thunderbird version 128.2.0esr (64-bit). Add-on Owl for exchange.

Now, when I launch Thunderbird, it connect properly and I do receive emails. All good.

But the problem comes when I want to SEND an email. It doesn' t work. I have attached some screenshots for you to see. It will be easier that way, I guess. I'll appreciate your help on that matter ASAP. Outlook is ok, but I can't stand it and I really want to use Thunderbird. :)

I have 3 gmail accounts in Thunderbird. My main gmail is OK (sends and receives email). After a problem with Thunderbird, I got my main mail to work but the other 2 gmail accounts do not receive or send mail - no matter how I change the configurations! My only option seems to require me removing the two emails and re-establishing them. Will this delete all the folders and emails I have saved over the years? I use Spectrum Internet. Hello, I have a question about the interaction between the import profile functionality and IMAP synchronization. I am currently in the process of transferring a domain, and during that process the existing emails on the IMAP server for that domain will be lost.

If I have all the emails for that server in a thunderbird backup, and I then transfer the domain and set up another IMAP server for the same addresses, then restore the thunderbird backup, will the emails from the backup then be added to the new IMAP server? If not, does anyone have a recommended way to achieve this?

Suddenly for reasons that I do not understand I will receive a message like this one below I do use both an iPhone & iPad and have done for years but this sort of message will turn up out of the blue!
