How to disable Enhanced Tracking Protection on all sites and for every FF session. Choosing Custom, and deselecting all check boxes doesn't work.

I have tried the suggestions as described in the following article: https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1273784 However, am still having the issue. It's as if the settings are totally ignored. I am using version 108.0a1 of Firefox developer edition. Ideally what am trying to achieve is away to disable all features of ETP. I figured setting it to custom with all values unchecked would have done the trick but it's not working. What works is if I add the site to the list of Exceptions for Enhanced Tracking Protection, then I will see all Ads loaded just fine on the page. However, this is not viable for me as I have a large list of sites that I visit, and I need to see the ads on them.

Does anyone know of a way to get around this feature in FF?

Is there another setting am missing from the previous article?

Greetings from North-East of France, since a few weeks ago I'm seeing a (sort of) pop-up window suggesting to login with a Google account (see the screenshot attached). I've done some internet search to find out how to get rid of it, but the only suggestion I get is to modify an option in a Google account. However, I do not have a Google account! How to get rid of this disturbing pop-up? I already use Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin, yet Google passes through them! Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

I am shipping a broken computer back to the manufacturer. I had installed Firefox on it using my Firefox account. Since I have used the Firefox password feature to store all my passwords, I'm concerned that someone at the manufacturer could access my passwords. (The computer refused to boot, so I was not able to scrub it prior to sending it back.) My question is this: if I change the Firefox password on my home desktop, will my passwords on the returned computer be protected?

Thanks for any help!

I created a Firefox Account yesterday and immediately unsubscribed from all Email Alerts.

Today I received another Email from Firefox titled 'Superpower #2: protect your whole device with a VPN'

I have yet again unsubscribed from all Email Alerts using the same methods as before, provided in the Email.

How do I ensure that Firefox do not email me regarding anything? I like to setup block lists as a last resort.

Firefox Updates:

Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF (It's on but greyed out because of the above setting) Check for updates but let you choose to install them = ON

Is it normal that firefox still creates this "telemetry" folder even when auto updates are OFF? C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a854-e594e9c1fb38 UpdateLock-CA7422744AE1A41C

C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a854-e594e9c1fb38\updates\CA7422744AE1A41C update-config.json {"__DEFAULTS__":{"app.update.auto":true,"app.update.background.enabled":true},"app.update.auto":false}

As suggested i added these two lines to firefox.cfg lockPref("app.update.background.enabled", false); lockPref("app.update.background.scheduling.enabled", false); Seem like firefox doesn't give a ****? How can i once and for all fully disable both these settings? Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF

By the way, during the installation i DID NOT install the maintenance service, so why exactly is the exe in the directory anyways??

Yes, you can - only since the update to Firefox version 73 the extension "xul" has been changed to "xhtml", so now you will have to enter this in the address bar :

chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xhtml

Since this address give me error

Hi, I am able to read a business mag on one Windows 10 Home system but on another which has Win 10 Pro , FF will not allow to STAY logged in to that magazine. I am using Windows 10 Home on the system that will not allow me to stay logged in. I have checked all settings I can think of. I have browsed all the Help Q&A here. I have chcked for all updates and confirm I am using the latest FF updates on both machines.

What could be in my settings that blocks me seeing my magazine?

Thank you. Adam

I have unsubscribed from all newsletter after receiving the first email but days later I'm still getting emails from Firefox (e.g. Superpower #4: See if your info has been leaked).

This is an incredibly bad user experience and to my knowledge illegal in the EU.

I'm probably still within that journey but the journey should terminate the moment I clicked unsubscribed.

I am using Firefox 107.0.1 on a Windows 10 machine. And, I am not able to login to the SSA website (US) using Firefox. I reviewed the answers in the post (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1354403) and tried several of the possible solutions (safe mode, rename/delete profile, reboot computer, etc) without any luck. I've attached a screenshot of the error when trying to login using Firefox.

Strangely, I've used Firefox exclusively to login (latest, maybe 6 months ago) before with no problem. It appears it is only when I currently am using Firefox. This is because I am able to use MS Edge without a problem.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you, Chris

I'm using 107.0.1 vers. At this link it states: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-or-choose-another-viewer#w_use-a-different-pdf-viewer-for-downloaded-pdf-files

Disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer

You can also set a different third-party PDF viewer to handle PDF files, instead of Firefox’s built-in PDF viewer. To switch from using the built-in PDF viewer to another viewer: 1. Click the menu button and select . 2. In the panel, go down to the Applications section. (SO WHERE IN THE HELL IS THIS SECTION???) YOU CAN'T DO I never selected Mozilla to open any pdf and there's no where to opt out or change based on what all the troubleshooting tips say... All these tips must be located on a much older version of Firefox cause they ain't in my version OR they are hid under some dubious section... Pretty frustrating....when you want to use Adobe and can't cause I'm locked in under Firefox....don't know how that has happened unless it was done automatically under one of the many current upgrades that have been coming down over the last month.

I was trying to sync my settings to my new laptop with my login and PW (which was correct) and it kept telling me it wasn't right. So, I decided to change it but my MFA on Google for Firefox got wiped once I switched phones. I had to use a backup code to get in and want to re-enable the MFA.

Unfortunately, and for no real reason, it won't work. I scan the QR code in Google Authenticator, it sets up and gives me a code, I enter the code, and then it tells me it's the wrong one. I even tried to do it by manually setting it up and it made no difference. Now I can't re-enable it because it won't work right.

What the actual hell is going on here, guys?

I just downloaded FireFox because it's the browser that's recommended by the IT administrator for using the company proxy. I've set up the proxy settings but with the proxy set I cannot connect to any site.

I get this message in the browser window Unable to find the proxy server

Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that can’t be found.

Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
Check to make sure your computer has a working network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

I've double checked the proxy settings and they are correct. I can connect to sites with other browsers to I have a network connection. My computer does not have a firewall set.

Also FireFox connects to websites when I disable the proxy. I've also confirmed with other colleagues that they are using the proxy so the problem is not that the proxy server is not correctly set up.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot?
