I'm attempting to configure Firefox so it will clear all my cookies, with a few exceptions, on program exit. I've configured it as:

  • Always use private browsing mode is NOT checked
  • Clear history when Firefox closes is NOT checked
  • Accept cookies and site data is checked
  • Keep until = I close Firefox
  • Under exceptions, I add the specific URL exceptions for sites whose cookies I would like to survive exiting Firefox
  • I do not have any cookie addons

However, it does not work. All the sites, including those listed in "Exceptions," log me out after I quit & re-start Firefox. I've done some searching, and have found many other threads from people with this issue, going back years. The suggested answers always seem to suggest the above configuration. Yet it just seems to behave as if the exceptions aren't there.

I should note that I'm trying to move over from Chrome, which has analog settings & is working as expected.

Why does it keep clearing the cookies for sites that are explicitly listed under "Exceptions"?

I have tried every way to change it, and my settings say Firefox is still my default browser yet it opens with AT&T/Yahoo as my search engine. I hate AT&T and have eliminated them completely from my life and don't want them as my search engine. I am currently running a virus extractor as I read that could be the problem, but if that doesn't work, any other suggestions?

I downloaded something from download[dot]com (I'm not typing in the address because I don't want anyone to link there without proper warning). I've searched and done *everything* I've found for removing this extension. MBAM, Spyware Terminator, Windows Defender (I'm on W8 and it's built in, so no reason not to use it), uninstall manually, nothing.

It's not listed *anywhere* on my computer. But while searching, I did find something. It creates a Windows Task object that re-installs the extension and it's component software (i.e. a separate program that collects user data) on startup if it's removed.

Can anyone provide help? I've even found the solutions listed here and they don't work anymore.

EDIT: for anyone else reading this, you have to find and delete the global folder that the extension has placed itself in.

After Firefox updated, I can no longer access www.apple.com. This is the error I get now:

Blocked by X-Frame-Options Policy

An error occurred during a connection to idmsa.apple.com.

Firefox prevented this page from loading in this context because the page has an X-Frame-Options policy that disallows it.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue as soon as possible. Thank You.

i want to make portable browser with setting i already did in it and send it to many users all setting must be private so i want the users to only can open the portable browser and use it as it is so i search add ones for security so i install these add-ones --- Public fox ( so i protect the menu from opening only with password ) Menu Editor ver 1 ( so i hide the right click ) addblock plus + addblock plus element hide ( so i hide some buttons in the page i dont want users to open or click like logout button and change password ) App Button Remove ( to remove the firefox orange top left button ) --- i have some setting in that browser for a specific site i want to share it with my own credential ( usr & pw ) and use it so i bookmark the site and set it already as home page and fill in my own proxy in the network tab so when all users are using it the website dos not complain about multi-login users -- i though all this was good and secure i pack (zip) the FF portable and send it to all users but suddenly they complain about they are logged out !!! then a user came to me and told me what he did "he go in the profile folder and delete all extensions and start ff portable again and he can access every thing the loggout button ( int he site ) and remove the proxy from the menu"

so i need help to protect the profile folder from changer after i send it to the users or at least i want to protect the extensions files from deleting ?????

any one can help me please to make this secure ?

Yesterday I visited a site to which I often go, pingtest.net. Normally, when I visit that site, a thin horizontal bar appears at the top of the browser viewing frame. I do not recall what it says, but it stretches the entire length of frame, from left to right. On the right edge of the bar is an x, if I wish to close it. In addition, when this horizontal bar appears, I also get a box which is about six to seven times the height of the thin horizontal bar that appears over the left edge of the thin horizontal bar. This box stretches across the width of about a sixth or fifth of the width of the horizontal bar. It contains something like the following: Show All, Allow, Allow and Remember. I normally click the Show all option, and I normally select Allow Now for all options.

Here's what happened yesterday: I went to pingtest.net, the horizontal bar appeared, and everything seemed normal. However I took no action. Instead, I changed my mind and decided to go to a different URL. My cursor was in the middle of the screen. I moved the cursor up to what I intended to be the URL field, in order to enter a new URL. Unfortunately I didn't move the cursor sufficiently. So, instead of clicking in the URL field, I clicked right in the middle of the horizontal bar. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I CLICKED BUT FROM THAT MOMENT TO THIS THAT HORIZONTAL BAR HAS NEVER RE-APPEARED. WHATEVER I CLICKED, IT APPEARS I INSTRUCTED FIREFOX TO NEVER PROVIDE ME WITH THAT HORIZONTAL BAR AGAIN!!!

As a result, I am also no longer getting the grey box with the Show All, Allow, Allow and Remember options.

How can I restore normal behavior, and get the normal horizontal bar and the normal box with the Show All, Allow, Allow and Remember options?

Since the only other thread about this was closed by the powers that be, I will open it for Version 44. What happened to the "Ask me every time" option for cookies. It is the major reason that I have been using Firefox for many years. All there is now really is to allow cookies Always or Never. I never had a problem until V44 when I noticed I was no longer being asked the question to allow the setting of a cookie by new websites. I looked at the reasons given for the removal and it is bogus. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469260 The only one who hit the nail on the head was: Charles Evans 2012-03-27 17:25:41 PDT

Someone who does not want to be bombarded by these questions should simply turn it OFF. Those who had it turned ON (like me and countless other loyal Firefox users), have no problem with it. Now that it has been removed, the question becomes, is there a way to get it back through an easy workaround? And PLEASE, don't write this issue off because it is "a developer issue" as I read in the previous thread about this disaster. It is not. It is a privacy issue and my bet is that ALL who selected this option, want it back!

So, I DON'T want Firefox to block autoplaying of videos, as I like to put on Youtube playlists and work and it isn't feasible for me to rush over to my laptop and click every time the video changes.

I have the latest versions of Firefox (67.0.4).

I have gone to Options, Privacy & Security, and unchecked the box next to "Block websites from automatically playing sound". This did nothing. It still blocks Youtube videos from playing until I click on the video window.

I also went to the about:config page. All the settings there seem to be the opposite of what other users have used to disable autoplay (since I want to enable it). Pic attached to show which settings I have been looking at.

I have also gone to the exceptions page and added Youtube as an exception. Firefox still is not allowing autoplay (with and without the "Block websites..." box checked).

Does someone know of something I am missing? This only occurred after the 66 update, and I've been trying to undo it as it is becoming very annoying for me.

I have tested the same videos on Chrome and Edge (neither of which I prefer to use, hence trying to fix Firefox), and they play right away with no problems.

I will state that some videos do play automatically, but it is not often and is very sporadic.

This is a strange problem that I have only encountered on a few sites; it is consistently happening on a specific game website (quakelive.com).

Anyway, I have my password for my account saved. When I log in, though, the Firefox does not auto-fill the login or password fields. If I enter the login, it still does not auto-fill the password field. I know that Firefox knows the password, because if I enter the wrong one (as I frequently do), I get a pop-up with something like "Would you like to update the saved password on...?" Well, no, Mr. Firefox, I wouldn't like to update it, but I *would* like you to fill it in if you know it (which you do).

I've checked and double-checked all of the basics in the other articles; I am fairly confident that all of my password and security settings are correct. I rarely have problems on other sites, though I do recall it happening elsewhere before (quakelive seems to be the primary culprit here, and it may be a specific issue with that site). I can always go into the password manager and find it, but that sort of defeats the purpose.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

For some unknown reasons, I can't get the password manager visible when I enter a new password on a web site. So no password recorded and I have to fullfil all the information every time I need to enter into my accounts. I tried to restart FF with the safe mode enabled, all add-ons turned off. That doesn't work better. I use AVIRA antivirus, FF 45.0, Win 10 (64). It seems I don't have a software which could create a problem. I have no idea where the problem is... Moreover, I can't find any topic relating to my precise case on the forum.

If someone has an idea, please, let me know. I would appreciate. Thanks in advance. Kind regards,

Recently I had to reset my general domain password (organization is split between production and general domain\network without domain trust, proxy is part of general network, I'm part of production so we have to authenticate to proxy). I have to do this every 6 months. After this last change, and after I input my credentials, Firefox 62.0.3 (and 62.0.2) no longer pops-out the "remember my password" option. 1. Option "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" is on 2. Proxy is not on the list of exceptions 3. Yes, I have removed old authentication from the list of "Saved Logins" 4. Yes "Firefox will remember my History" If I input my new username and password (which is asked only once during session), Firefox works just fine until I close it. Next time it starts, Firefox once again asks for username and password and do not offer to "remember" this credentials.

Thank you.
