Just updated a friend's computer from Windows 7 to 10. Installed firefox over previous ESR and now there's no way to remove the search bar from the new tab page. On my W10 system, the search bar isn't there, not sure how or why, but on her's there's no option NOT to show it as there used to be.

I found some VERY old (2014) info on this but doesn't seem to be up to date.

PLEASE give us our options back and stop taking them away, sheesh, getting as bad as Microsoft.

Is there a workaround for this to remove the redundant search bar from the new tab page since you can search from the address bar?

I cannot remove "Your browser is being managed by your organisation" and seems to be stopping the home settings saving. They simply revert back to the default (see image) when I restart Firefox. Not sure what is meant by "your organisation" as I am a personal user, not organisation. I'm the single user of the browser (e.g. just one user on my PC, which is me) and also Admisitrator. Can someone help me remove this. Thanks John

I'm a new user to Firefox on my Mac. I don't see a Share button that would allow me to email the current web site to a friend. Looking for help on the web, I see:

To access the feature, simply click on the Share button on the toolbar. The Share button looks like a paper airplane and is located to the right of the address bar.

but I just don't see any button or icon that looks like that.

I went into View > Toolbars > Customize Toolbars and didn't see a way to add a Share button. I clicked 'Restore to Defaults' and that didn't help.

I know I can choose File > Share from the menu but I'd rather have a toolbar item.

I press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+i and then press on the top left icon, but then I can only have one click to identify an element. What to do if I need two or three clicks to get to an element?

So I have an Excel workbook in my onedrive from MS, It was working fine on my firefox browser in my Ubuntu OS, last week it started to delete my cell's information whenever I pressed the enter, tab or arrow keys, I contacted the MS support and they get me to opened the same file on a chrome browser and worked fine... I still want to use my firefox browser but this problem is very annoying, please help me sort it out!!!

I already found many users asking the same, but they didn't get a reply.... at least I didn't see any.

I want to protect my password memory with a master password - fine. But in 99% of my time, I don't need to enter login data. Even worse, if FF starts on an "invisible" monitor, I cannot move the window.

Is there a way to have FF prompt only for the password if I attempt to log into a site ? ... it already does that when I cancel the start-up prompt.... so is there an "auto cancel at startup ?"

Hello! I synced my browsing data yesterday by signing in to firefox account and reset my OS(window 10) to improve my laptop's speed. When I am trying to get back my browsing data back after resetting and installing firefox by signing in to my firefox account and pressing the Sync Now button then its not giving me my browsing data back. Why is it so? Need Help. Thank You!!

When I use the `--search` CLI option, Firefox searches the supplied term in a new window.

I want it to open itself in a new tab instead, so I tried out the following combination of CLI options:

``` $ firefox --new-tab --search "example" ```

Firefox does search for the given term, but it opens itself in a new window instead of a new tab, thus ignoring the `--new-tab` option.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello, I'm running FF 124.0.2 64 but in Win 10 on a PC. I have the bookmarks right across the top of the page; the sixth from the left at the moment is Seloger's website. If I have a tab open looking at a TV program website and right click on a link to see more details in a new tab, the new tab opens ok, but the TV program website is overwritten by the Seloger's website. If I use the "previous" arrows, it reverts to the TV program site. If I change the order of the bookmarks across the page, the TV program website will be overwritten by the bookmark then in the sixth from left position. This is driving me mad. How can I force FF to stay with the open tab and not change it by itself?

Every time I would try to log in it would always redirect me to a website that contain only the words "Expected redirect cookie to exist"

It's really annoying because it only happens on Firefox. For some context I just re-installed Windows 11 and I heard from another post that re-installing Windows 11 will help but I do not want to go through the whole process again.

I have already tried:

• Turning off DNS over HTTPS
• Turning Off Proxy
• Clearing Cache and Cookies
• Reinstalling Firefox

I want to keep browser open after closing last tab. I changed the boolean parameter "browser. tabs. closeWindowWithLastTab" to "false" but the browser still closes with closing of last tab.

What else is required ?

I have a bunch of stuff on my LAN, all with static IPs (so I can find things). New Reolink security camera can't be accessed via a browser and it's static IP.

Am I truly unable to have access to my own LAN? There has to be a way around this, doesn't there?

Having tried all pointers to how to display this data, I give up and present my case here: In a banking app, the login field is blank and requires me to enter the correct Login ID. This works fine. However, if I double click on that field, an option is displayed, happening to be my email address, which will not work in this case; a numeric value is required.

So, knowing a prompt is enabled, I have entirely failed to get 'it' to save the correct ID. I have also find a place in Firefox settings where I can see and modify the value that comes up. I do however remember doing exactly that for some other site.

So, as I have said, I cannot find this in the Passwords nor the Settings pages. What am I missing?

When I pause a video (any site) and go to another tab / stay on the site, after a seemingly random amount of time the video starts playing again.

I'm using latest Firefox on Ubuntu 22.04 (snap).

I've tried (didn't work):

• Disabling media hardware controls through about:config
• Disabling autoplay through about:config

Had to reformat and reinstall my Intel Mac with System 10.4.11. Can't download install dmg from the ftp site because my id and password don't get me into the FTP website.

I'm running firefox 124.0.2 on Linux Mint and am having the most bizarre issue. I've got a logitech M560 mouse, and when I press the mouse button for Forward it functions normally. However when I press the mouse button for Back, Firefox ignores it.

I've already confirmed that the OS is registering the button click as 'Back' using Input-Remapper, and the extra mouse buttons are enabled in the Firefox configuration. I've also used the mouse on another PC with no issues so this one is kind of boggling the mind.

I'm running a UI deployment with a web-app and Firefox on an Ubuntu system.

I'm running Firefox with the flag "--kiosk" to place it into kiosk mode (booted from the command line upon system boot). This works fine, and boots up Firefox to the page I want (my web-app) in kiosk mode (full-screen, etc.)

However, I get very annoying popups that are not acceptable for deployments in front of customers. I have tried, but CANNOT suppress all of them, or, when I thought I did, they came back a month later.

Popups:

1. "Keep pesky trackers off your tail. Open my links with Firefox" 2. "Welcome back" 3. Others like this...

These are Firefox browser popups, not related to popups that other websites can put up, and block the entire screen with an overlay until they are dismissed. My deployments are only going to a single web-page that I control (which has no popups) and there is no keyboard on the deployed system, so people cannot navigate elsewhere.

Things I've tried:

1. Firefox is installed via snap, which provides "snapshotting" configuration for the Firefox snap. I loaded Firefox, cleared the annoying dialogs, and then took a snapshot (theorying that I set Firefox configuration when doing this, and I capture that in the snapshot) and re-installed it onto a new system. Still go popups 2. Looked into user.js preferences. I can install this file onto the system, so I looked through https://searchfox.org/mozilla-release/source/remote/shared/RecommendedPreferences.sys.mjs and this is how I initially got all the popups to disable themselves. I looked through that list and tested most of the recommended settings until the popups disappeared. However, after a month or so, I'm beginning to see the popups again.

Any suggestions from Mozilla or others that run into this issue?

I have been using Firefox as my primary browser for a very long time. Now, every time I start Firefox, I get a message that the update failed, and that I should manually download the update file and run it. I do so, the update appears to work, and Firefox behaves, until I stop it and restart again. Then I get the same message. I looked online - it appears that others have had this problem, but no clear solution. I am not willing to use Edge, but am beginning to wonder if it is time to leave Firefox. Every time i use firefox with even one tab open i end up with extremely high CPU usage-50% or more on average. It causes the exact type of issues that one would expect, and after spending a hours and hours over the last month looking for solutions and implementing anything promising, it hasnt improved. Ive done config edits, countless cache clears, memory snapshots via devtools, and many many other things that have been recommended to me and nothing has helped. running the browser in troubleshoot confirms the problem isnt related to extensions/add-ons or anything like that, because cpu numbers are identical to those seen normally. increasingly i am convinced that this has to be an issue on the mozilla side. reddit confirms i am not alone in struggling with this, not by a long shot.....pls help!
