Hi folks,

Firefox 105 boots at a snail's speed on my Win 10 PC PC boot just became painfully slow today, September 21, 2022. It was so bad, I thought the worst for the machine. Made me check to see if a new Firefox version was pushed. It was. I turn off my PC daily, just FYI. My drives are nowhere near full, 50% for the fullest. Before the push, all was fine. The C drive with Windows resident is an SSD, which I don't defrag. Its at 50% capacity. Task Manager shows 5.1 of 7.9 GB of memory in use, most of it for Firefox. (PC was new in 2018)

Until now, the system was quick.

Does booting edge do some stealth shenanigans to Firefox ? I had to use it the other day, as Firefox wasn't supported.

Please advise ...

Thank you, Amy

Somewhere around September 6 something changed in Firefox which prevents me from accessing my control area for a website I own. The error says: " your connection to this site is not private. Information ...". I am the only person with access to this site and my password to the site is 20 characters long with special character and randomly generate. Everything worked well and doesn't work on any computer in my house. This change in your software is costing me money as I can't work on my website. I am not a happy camper. Please tell me how to resolve this problem. Telling me to ask the hosting company to make changes is not a valid response.

An xml file keep misidentified as an html file without any visible reason

Recently, after my computer get repaired, I had to do various things, such as reinstall some software and, in the case of Firefox, put back my bookmarks and rss feeds (they were lost and if there was a backup, I didn't find it)

The problem only happen with this page. I didn't find any other page with this problem.

I checked all what I can about this page (using view-source). I compared it with other xml files, mostly other rss, and the documentation I found about rss, xml and html. Visibly, this is a regular xml/rss page. I didn't found anything special in.

There are element underlined in red in the source code but it is mostly what can be seen as an error if this is parsed at assuming it's html code.

I also check what I get if I do a right click then, in the contextual menu, I select "inspecter" (sorry, on my computer, Firefox is set to french and I don't know the english term ; this is the last entry of the menu). I got a different code. Apparently, Firefox applied (pseudo) fixes to display the page as an html document.

I checked the name of the page. This is unusual but, in my rss feeds, there are several other rss feeds named this kind of way and all of them work properly.

The last thing I checked is the RSS link that is on most pages of the site and send to this glitched page. It doesn't seem to be more the cause.

Visibly, for an unknown reason, Firefox decreed this is html code and I found no way to make it reconsider this or parse this page as xml.

It seem the first mention of problem with the rss feed on this site was a comment written almost four months ago but I don't know if it was the same problem.

Greetings...

Yesterday, my laptop was functioning without difficulty. Today, when I logged into Windows 10, instead of my usual profile/desktop appearing, a default profile/desktop appeared.

I performed a system restore using the most recent restore point (two days ago). The system restore completed successfully and upon restart and login, my usual profile/desktop appeared.

However, my installation of Firefox no longer completely exists. In the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox directory, many of the files that customarily exist no longer appear, including firefox.exe.

Most certainly, I do not want to lose any of my bookmarks, open tabs, or custom settings that I have established in my Firefox over many years of use. What would be the best way for me to restore Firefox on my laptop, while preserving all of my bookmarks, open tabs, custom settings, etc?

Would a simple reinstall of Firefox accomplish this task, without my losing any of my bookmarks, open tabs, custom settings, etc? Or, is there something else that I should do?

I would sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding this problem. Thank you!

I installed Evernote Webclipper on Firefox on my Macbook Air, but the icon/tool does not display so is not usable. I used the "customize toolbar" info to drag the extension icon to the toolbar. Clicking on that put me back on the add-ons page, did not open the extension. I restarted, restored defaults, removed and re-installed Evernote still no go. VERY frustrated. Any ideas from anyone welcome. Thanks.
