Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am setting up a site on Linux server using Apache as reverse proxy , with ASP.NET as application server . since installing SSL , I had few mixed content blocking that i was managed to fix using CSP directive in Apache configuration file. site has no issue with all browser except Firefox. the only issue is that in admin section , to configure a option. system will load a js file that simply a dropdown with list of options to choose from . when using Firefox , it tries to redirect that page to login page . for test , i clicked on the link i located in Developer tools , which directed me to login page , entered my credentials, and scripts loads showing the drop down box and ok button. is been 3 weeks i been looking for every solution and i have done everything .. but nothing have worked. now I am resort to having to use other browsers if i need to use that functionality in admin page. In page header file name : login , location : http://MYDOMAIN.ca/login?ReturnUrl=%2FAdmin%2FDiscountRulesCustomerRoles%2FConfigure%3FdiscountId%3D6%26_%3D1702682353293 , which are not correct . and browser such as Brave and Safari dose not show different path and file name and everything is correct. dose anyone know how to fix this .. ? i saw a solution mentioned as stated resting Firefox ,but can not find a way to reset , but i have reinstalled Firefox and constantly having this issue on this single section of the page . Thanks.

My history of sites visited is too big and when I try start firefox it loads 20 pages or more onto my computer screen and then stalls how do I stop this

Is there any guidance or point of contact for websites featuring (or wanting to feature) in the Recommended section - like with Google Discover or Apple News?

Does FIREFOX offer an app that will read my email to me? OR (desktop Mac)

I have a DAW (Digital Audio Workstsation) (Logic is the version Apple offers. )and I've purchased many musical apps. Guitars, keyboards, etc but a lot of them have long manuals. I'd love to be able to hear the text, say while washing dishes.

I do have the CC on my television while viewing shows

When I shop for groceries, every single item I look at shows up in my Recent Activity. This wastes way too much space, plus I don't need it. Is there a way to restrict what shows?

Hello i have recently continued the windows 10 extended version and i cannot regain my bookmarks that use to be there. They are not in the back up or the restore options in the bookmarks tab. We have tried to solve this with articles off of the Mozilla website and we have not been able to regain the bookmark access.

The audio cuts out intermittently every few seconds specifically during the races (also I have the pro subscription) since it is only the races that use the enhanced stream with all the options. The audio sync is fine but the audio just cuts out sometimes every 2-4 seconds and it will cut out for a full second. It's unusable like this. It seems like an issue with Firefox because the Chromium browsers don't do this (They have a much worse issue with video performance).

Except one: I do not know how to detect when the default search engine has changed. I need to know how to detect when the default search engine changes so I can update the favicon and placeholder text by recalling my gui_fixes_search_favicon() function in userChrome.js.

I'm an experienced web developer of 20+ years and would be grateful if someone could share their insight without the often "obligatory" cautionary tales 101 bit. Thank you in advance!

I use the same laptop at two locations. I have different printers at each (both HP, one a laser the other an inkjet).

Most of my time is at location 1. Typically I can print without a problem. Recently in Firefox ONLY I have been unable to print at location 2.

Scenario:

1. I print to the laser printer at location 1. No problem.
2. I go to location 2 and choose to print - the print dialog appears with a "spinner" and it does not go away.

I have to cancel using Esc. I am unable to print at all from Firefox. Typically if I close Firefox after that, it looks closes but is still shown as running in Task Manager.

Other programs such as Word and other browsers bring up a dialog box showing that "the printer cannot be contacted" and allows cancellation. At this point I can choose the local inkjet printer and all is well.

I have a number of old ReayNas Duo machines which I cannot afford to replace. Until recently they worked fine with Firefox after setting TLS to 1. Now, although I can log in, the menus done' work. Instead of taking you to the menu item the they close the menu & add 'Duo' to the page title. This is repeated each time you try to use a menu. The only exception is the 'logs' option, which seems to operate correctly. I'm using Firefox 143,0,1 on Linux Mint 22.2.

Since update 144.0 today, when I try to print a (pdf) page showing a mail adress, this mail adress is replaced by the label "[email protected]".

I try to find a way to disable this protection, as I work in a public library and use firefox to print the inscription forms (showing adress, phone and mail adress) for our users.

Various computers, with up-to-date firefox, show the same issue, with various printers, but I do not reproduce this issue in edge, for example.

I'm looking for a parameter in about:config and firefox parameters, but found nothing really meaningfull so far.
