Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

This has happened a few times and confused me but I figured it out tonight. I had a private window open and a regular window open and closed the regular one. When I reopened the regular one all of my pinned tabs were gone. This should be fixed, Firefox should differentiate between the windows and stop closing tabs on the regular window if it's closed before the private one. Kind of an odd thing.

I was able to recover my tabs with a json file thankfully but haven't been able to do so before as I had opened and closed multiple windows trying to figure out where the pinned tabs had gone and the "previous.json" had changed to those new open tabs. It might also be nice to have a few "previous.json" files be created instead of the single one for instances like this.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this, simply put I am using the 'workspaces' app in windows power toys which allows me to open windows in specific configurations to make a workspace. The app allows me to open other apps with CLI args, so I can open Firefox to a preset url, or even predefined set of tabs.

This has got me wanting to use my firefox tab groups as a way of opening "dynamic" windows in my workspace. All that would be needed is a way to open a specific tab group from CLI, or more specifically a CLI arg that I can input into power toys workspace.

Please let me know if there is a way to do this. I checked the Firefox CLI [https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/CommandLineOptions|documentation] and didn't find anything though.

When I search a topic and a Youtube video appears in the search results it won't connect via the hyperlink to youTube. I doesn't give any message it just doesnt connect.

hello i wish to export book marks from floorp my default browser but when i down load a browse and go to the import section i am asked to import from browsers which i do not have on my p c i just want to import bookmarks from floorp can you help please

I am running W11 (HOME). FF is acting like I am running W10 (I keep getting info on needing to upgrade to W11).

Now to the real problem:

It appears since I upgraded FF to 146.0.1 64 bit, FF seems to have problems pulling up password/ids that haven't been used for a while. It actually can't find them as if they had never been used. The number of "passwords" it lists is rather small (like 8). This is causing me to have to go through lost password routines.

Any idea what or why this is happening?

I just moved to a new Windows 11 PC from my Windows 10 PC. I backed up my Firefox profile and put it on a portable drive. I loaded Firefox on the new PC and then found the folder where the profiles are. I added the profile folder from the backup. Firefox has not found it and there is no way I've been able to discern to search for it.

I added the anti-virus after trying to set up Firefox.

Here are the particulars: Firefox version 146.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11 Application Binary: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Profile folder: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default-release

Firefox is already running old Firefox must be closed. I have tried everything in the help menu. delete parent.lock , restarting etc. nothing is working. I can create new profile but i cant find any toolbar, bookmarks etc please help

I'm using a macbook pro, running OS 14.6.1. Firefox is my default browser.

For quite some time now, whenvever I'm attempting to make an online purchase, once my payment information is entered, it just hangs, and either takes as much as 10 minutes for the purchase to go through, or it never goes through, it just keeps spinning. This is the case regardless of what website I'm ordering from, and regardless of what credit card i use.

When I switch browsers to Chrome (which i prefer not to do), it all works seamlessly and immediately.

My Firefox browser is up to date. My OS is a little out of date, deliberately, because of many reports that the current update can actually slow things down. But in spite of this, I have no trouble with anything except trying to make a purchase.

firefox suddenly stopped showing any history or book marks. also no history. i've re downloaded, no change. all works well with chrome but i like firefox. and thoughts?

I have a gpu rtx 50 and recently decided to use rtx super resolution to improve watching online videos but I can't make it work on firefox, I'm currently using the DEV Edition x64 latest version HW Acceleration is enabled and I also tried modifying via about:config the lines: media.peerconnection.video.use_rtx gfx.webrender.overlay-vp-super-resolution gfx.webrender.super-resolution.nvidia

It still doesn't work! tested in the other versions of firefox and it also did not work Using brave, chrome and edge..works normally without having to do anything. Does anyone know what it can be???

The 29. january I got no sound when streeming video from Firefox. I checked the situation with VLC, another media player, which had no problems with the sound. I opened Windows "sound control settings" and chose to send the sound to the monitor (HDMI). Then I got sound from Firefox. When I sent the sound back to the original device, which is an USB Audio DAC, because I use an external amplifier, and my PC doesn't have the SP/DIF output. Again there were no sound from Firefox, but sound from VLC. In addition I started Microsoft Edge, and got sound! Which means that the problem is only with Firefox.

Then I checked the time for the last Firefox update. It was january 28, the day before (or it could have been the same day), and the new version was: 147.0.2. That made me beleive that the cause of the problem was the software update. What else could have caused this problem ?

I do not know how to fix this problem. I need help, otherwise I have to quit using Firefox, which I have been using for a decade without any problems. I am using Windows 11.
