Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

How can I get Firefox to stop automatically downloading links? I've selected the "ask me" option in settings and that doesn't stop it. In the past it worked fine but for the last several months I've tried everything and it won't ask me what file to put it in. Now, every PDF gets automatically sent to my Adobe cloud (which I definitely don't want as I'm planning to ditch Adobe at the end of my current subscription) and I have to go through a convoluted work around to even be able to get it downloaded into the file where I need it to be. Tried everything Please help how to get back my bookmarks on Firefox on my Imac This sometimes happens when install overnight usually view..side bar...bookmarks works but not this time the toolbar bookmark shows empty????

Firefox requested helper tool to download after an update & now it will not perform the helper tool to install and Firefox is not responsive and doesn’t start up. I’ve uninstalled it 2x and it will work for a few days then the helper tool install request pops up and the cycle starts over.

I cant get Pandora to load with Firefox . I am in Mexico and have been using the Browsec VPN to listen to Pandora and all of a sudden it stopped loading. I get the blue screen with Pandora logo but it doesnt go past that. Pandora works on Edge with the same VPN Browsec .

Overnight my Firefox Home page no longer show the three rows of shortcuts I have had for years. The setting still is correct in Settings but no icons are shown - I have tried to recreate them but still no shortcut icoins! How can I recreate or recover them? Win11, fully up to date.

I have just replaced my PC after the old one decided not to connect to the net & performed a backup of just about everything. Tried to restore Firefox backup & it's asking for a password when I didn't create one! I've tried the Firefox sign in password but that was rejected - any ideas anyone? Thanks

I did a clean install of Windows and downloaded Firefox, but after signing in and pressing sync none of my old bookmarks or anything is showing up. Is it gone now? I did not have Firefox on any other device.

I want to print some labels, but when I print them, they always com sideways. Even when I change them settings on the printer, to print it not sideways.

I can delete history entries in a date range from today, 1/16/26, back to 1/10/26, but not 1/09/26 or before. Is it intended that earlier history is to be not deletable?

FF does not block pop ups when box checked.

Firefox Permissions yesterday blocked Pop Up for viewing my online documents with message "Permission to access file denied" .

I was able to view my online documents after Adding the merchants website to Firefox Permission Exception for Pop Ups, clicked "Allow" and Clicked "Save Changes".   

Next day, the Merchants website no longer appear in Permission Pop Up Exceptions Window, its now empty.

And now I am no longer able to block viewing my online documents as Pop Ups - my online documents are no longer Blocked when I click the "View" button -even though Permission Block Pop Ups box is checked and no websites appear in Permission block Pop Ups Exception Window.

I have tried a few suggestions from Reddit which did not solve the issue.

Please help.

When a PDF document is dragged into Firefox, you get an app that allows you to write on it, import images, highlight, etc. However, if I use grouped tabs, you cannot use the app anymore. It will not write on grouped. I'm not sure where this issue would fit in the options provided. Thanks for any help you can give.

In settings there exists the option

"Open Firefox automatically when your computer starts up"

I have specifically chosen to disable this option; there's nothing wrong my hand.

I am perfectly capable of moving my mouse pointer to the Firefox icon and clicking it when I need to; and running on a decent spec machine with a late spec NVMe drive, the startup is near instantaneous.

I don't need or want additional Windows boot clutter.

Nevertheless Firefox periodically nags to enable this useless setting option like I maybe don't know it exists. How do I stop that ?

Whilst it's not every time I start it, I recently reinstalled Windows 11 barely a month ago. I've already been asked 3 times.

On modern systems running on high spec storage devices this seems like such a pointless option, but to even repeatedly try to push people to use it when they don't want to seems somewhat disingenuous.

Given Ramageddon where people are having to build systems with lesser amounts of RAM it seems even more unlikely that people are going to want bulky applications that they may not immediately need to be auto-loaded every time they boot their PC, before they will be able to use their pc for whatever they switched it on to do.

Is there option to disable these "helpful" suggestions ? Thanks!  :)

I lost my Firefox on my pc. I thought i needed to download it again but when I downloaded it, it was a different version and none of my bookmarks were available. I don't know how to restore my old firefox. Help, please.
