PSA:

The snap version of Firefox (as implemented in Ubuntu Desktop 22.04) will not open a Zoom meeting link.

The alternatives are: - Google Chrome, etc. - Borrow a Windows machine and log into your meeting there.

What a disaster.

I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 which is using the snap package of Firefox.

It seems that I cannot open local files in the /tmp directory. When I place a test.html file there and run `firefox /tmp/test.html`, it returns a file not found error. Why?

I don't have the problem with files in my home directory.

A previous company employee set up a Firefox Account, that we release a Firefox Add-On against. This person set up their work account as the Firefox Account Primary Email and did not set up a Secondary Account. This person left the company, and their email account is no longer available. We now need to update the Add-On. We have authentication information to log into the account, but when we try to access the Add-On/Extension location, the system sends a verification code to the Primary Email. We cannot even set a Secondary Email for the same reason. What can we do since creating a new account will not allow us to access and update the existing Add-On?

I installed an extension from a website(not from addons.mozilla.org) and found it a bit suspicious so after around using it for 1 minute immediately removed it... So will an extension be able to access root/admin permissions if it had some malicious script executed(I am using debian) or can extension access system files, modify, delete or install/download anything without the users' permission?

Thanks in advance AVC

I can't play a video when logged into a website - see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1371380

I'm sure it is not Firefox as I have also tried Chrome and Opera; same problem. How can I debug this and find out why the video cannot be played ?

I see there is 'Remote Debugging' and 'Browser Console' under 'More Tools'. How do I use these or other tools to find out what is causing the problem please ?

I haven't used my microphone in Firefox in years. I tried today, logged into Google Voice, which tells me it can't access the microphone. I set permissions in Firefox's settings. I turned up all the mic settings in alsamixer. I tried https://mdn.github.io/web-dictaphone/ , recommended in another thread here, and it doesn't record either. I can use the microphone outside X, with sox's rec. I also can't record a new greeting in Google Voice.

Firefox 100.0.2 , Linux, Slackware 64-bit, all packages updated this morning.

Hi! First of all, I'd like to congratulate the community on the 100th edition of Firefox.

The subject was selected as "other" because it is not a failure or problem, but a suggestion for improvement related to the information on the volume of cookies and website and cache data stored on disk.

It's been a while since I noticed this and now I present it in writing asking whether or not it is feasible to implement the suggestion below.

In Settings / Privacy and security / Cookies and website data, the amount of “bytes” stored taking up disk space appears.

According to the detailed description on the subject, available at the address

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox

there is a screen copy illustrating the explanations, for example:

Cookies and website data Your stored cookies, website data and cache are currently taking up 468 MB of disk space. know more

That's the point: "Your cookies, website data and cache stored are currently taking up 468 MB of disk space"

However, this information freezes when reaching 1.0GB.

The exact question: could this information be shown beyond the conditioned threshold until the user decides to clear all data?

Without further ado, I thank you in advance for your attention and, as far as possible, I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely, Ricardo Pinto. Basic Firefox User in Brazil

I've already found the option in the config to disable GIFs. Turning off autoplay is not enough.

A lot of times while coding I press Ctrl+S to save Visual Studio Code and update live server (while watching on firefox the result). The problem is that when I'm focused on Firefox Ctrl+S pops up the Save Page window and (if I held Ctrl+S for more than a split second) it crashes (probably due to multiple popups becoming unresponsive). The mouse can't click to cancel the pop ups for saving the page nor interact it. I have to kill the firefox process and restart it. I've been looking into disabling Ctrl+S shortcut in Firefox with no success (extensions are deprecated or require too many permissions I'm not comfortable with).

Would someone help me to disable Ctrl+S or enlighten me on how to not have firefox crash every time I accidentally press Ctrl+S?

Thanks!

Using Firefox 100.0.1. Debian Linux. Dell 1525 with 4G ram.

When playing a certain mp3 file in the browser, if I use the arrow keys, or the mouse, to skip forward or back, there is no response, but the audio stops playing for a period of time, then, finally it starts playing again at the spot it was before.

This does not happen with this file in Chrome, or in VLC. Also, with other mp3s it does not happen in Firefox.

I finally got it to work by converting the file to ogg vorbis, but this is not something I want to make a practice of..

I imported the file back into Audacity, and re-exported it as an mp3. Same result.

Weird... Any ideas?

Thanks,

Since about a month, the download dialog pops up multiple times a day (seems randomly; I did not download anything manually). If the list of downloaded files (history in download dialog) is not empty, it pops up and stays. If the list of downloaded files is empty, it also pops up randomly and immediately disappears again.

I searched for this issue and found out that the automatically popping up download dialog can be disabled with `browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel=false`. Unfortunately, this is not what I want because the dialog should pop up when a download has been completed - but not randomly.

I would like to find out why this happens because I am a bit afraid that this may be malicious behavior (e.g., triggered by an extension). Do you have any idea where this behavior comes from or how to figure this out? Are there appropriate logs to take a look at? Can I see somehow which Firefox components are active at which point in time?

Edit: Just found other users with the same issue (but no solution, yet): - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370262#answer-1492291 - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370262#answer-1495496
