Hi,

I cannot find the way to remove the Adblock Plus extension for the life of me. It says "Can't be removed". I re-started in Safe-Mode, and it still cannot be removed. I did Firefox's "fresh re-install" thing, which is supposed to remove all extensions, and it's still there. Should I report the extension? Help.

Thanks

I used to take print to study contents offline and I almost always use Mozilla as a browser. Recently I noticed that I was unable to print a full page in a simple website. Understandable that firefox team has been busy working upon the print bugs, but the page and the website I am referring to is Purely HTML and CSS; and for some reason firefox cuts out the rest of the pages from print except for the first.(i.e) to say it prints only the top part of the page..

Though I work with Ubuntu I have crosschecked with Win8.1 and TOR version of firefox which had the same shortcoming, with the website I was referring to. However other browsers such as the Safari and Chrome seem to do fine with this regard. Kindly check for yourselves and let me know if I am going wrong somewhere. Also please Avoid recommending any add ons to accomplish the task at hand.

The thing is the website I was referring to is of very simple make and may help the team to shoot the bug if any, with an easier test case such as this.

With love and Thanks

Please note that my question is not about preserving preferences. I've searched and found many Q&A threads on preference preservation, but I don't think that is my problem or issue.

What I'd like to do is to make some Ubuntu desktop menu shortcuts to launch specific web-based apps, in individual windows (I suppose separate instances and new-window) of specific size, with a given specific URL, hopefully with it's own icon, sort-of replacement of desktop apps. So in the Desktop menu I should be able to see 'Google Meet' (for instance) as an application with it's own icon, but clicking it launches Firefox with Google Meet's URL, and a window that is just 800x600 in size.

However, when I try to launch windows on Ubuntu MATE (also tried Lubuntu, and standard Ubuntu... all 20.04), firefox seems to ignore --window-size command line parameter, and all new windows are of exactly same size, which is the default size apparently, ignoring the command-line parameter. What gives ? How can I do what I am trying to as explained above (from firefox standpoint... I know how to create Ubuntu .desktop file etc.).

cheers, B

I'm seeing breakthrough of the background when Firefox is open on my second monitor.

This seems to occur when the window on the secondary monitor is minimised, then maximised and mouse over the image on the secondary monitor (second is right hand side) - see image.

Initially I thought this was a graphics issue but this does not occur when I repeat the steps with other applications. I have also tried it with Chrome and Chrome does not display the same behaviour. I do not see this behaviour on the primary monitor.

I have reduced the refresh rate from 144Hz to 60Hz and reset Firefox which has not cured the issue. It appears to me that the only application that exhibits this behaviour on this machine is Firefox.

I also started to see this occur on my previous machine which was based on Mint 17 and a different Nvidia GPU and monitors and had been stable for many years.

If there is any further information I can provide, please let me know as I'm loathed to change from Firefox as I've been a fan for many years.

I used to be able to select the first certificate without error but the DoD recently changed their requirements. Now, the same certificates are displayed but the one I need is not displayed. How do I edit that window to display all certificates on the CAC card? Thank you for your time.

This has been an ongoing bug with FF; I found search results here that are a decade old! And it's a big bug! Here's why: Unit: Linux Mint 20-C on a Vivobook using FF 80.0.1 (64-bit) 1: about:preferences > Applications > mailto > Firefox 2: about:preferences > Startup > Restore previous session 3: I have no other browser on my laptop (which is where this occurred).

In testing by clicking an email link, it went into that new tab open loop (at a rate of about 2 tabs per second), because what is now obvious, is FF browser cannot be an email client; at least, not as it is, and has been. I tried to launch it in a variety of ways (e.g. private; restart with add-ons disabled), but no matter what, the loop would reopen the browser, and continue the loop. I had to restart my laptop in safe mode just to use it.

So, I uninstalled FF and reinstalled it, launched it, and again it immediately looped uncontrolled. So, I again booted in safe mode, uninstalled FF, deleted all FF associated folders on my laptop, then reinstalled it. Fixed! Wow, that's just about as buggy as a computer can get! As the only browser, this created a serious conundrum. Thankfully I'm on Linux so I could install another browser brand if need be.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-repeatedly-opens-empty-tabs-or-windows

I finally found this page, after the fact, but this issue should not be a problem to begin with: Bug! Filing a bug report has been done multiple times over the last decade, with no resolution, so why do it again? Logic dictates that If this bug cannot be fixed, just eliminate this as a choice in the next version. Using FF (synced) on 4 different devices, I had to check them all and undo that setting! Fair warning to all. And most will not be as determined to stay with FF; they'll uninstall it, quietly, and just use another browser. FYI

I decided to use Firefox Developer Edition on my Linux machine (Fedora 32) as I migrate from Windows for Web Development, but I have hit a wall with it with Gnome Extensions. I get the following error when I attempt to modify or even view extensions.gnome.org content:

Although GNOME Shell integration extension is running, native host connector is not detected. Refer documentation for instructions about installing connector.

The only resolve I found for this is Chrome-based so I do not feel that is the issue I am having. The browser works fine other than this, at least from what I can tell. Is there a way to use the extensions? Should this issue be a precursor to things on Fedora that should keep me on Windows for the browser? Please advise, I want to make the full move to Linux soon.

I am seeing problems identical to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1273349

When I click a menu it briefly appears and then immediately disappears.

Turning on "Disable popup auto-hide" solves the issue, but this is a work around not a solution.

Restarting Firefox with a clean brand new profile resolves the problem. So it seems nothing to do with any of my plugins.

But after I click on a link from within emacs, the first time I open a menu it is fine. Then the 2nd time I try to open a menu it disappears immediately. There might be other conditions that do this also, but this is the most reliable way I have found to date.

I believe emacs is calling firefox, by default, using "xdg-open". If I manually use this command from a command prompt to open a web page. It works fine. Huh???

I changed emacs to explicitly invoke Firefox. At first this seemed to have solved this problem. But now it has come back again.

This has been ongoing for some time, over a large range of Firefox versions. Currently I can reproduce with 68.11.0 ESR and 80.0.1

Sometimes I have done something and I think I have magically resolved the issue, but then it comes back again.

This is currently Debian/buster and Debian/bullseye using the i3 window manager. In the past I have also had the same issue with Debian/stretch. I have multiple monitors. I doubt any of this is relevant, but just in case.

Unlike the previous referenced post I have not been able to reproduce this under OSX. Although I don't often click links from emacs either. So wonder if that is significant.

So, I want to run Firefox from the command line withoug address bar and in a new window. I found that I can enable ssb and try it with: firefox -ssb http://127.0.0.1:6680/ This doesn't work, so I tried: firefox -ssb -url http://127.0.0.1:6680/ This opens it, not in a new window but in a new tab of an already existing session, and the ssb argument doesn't seem to work. Then, I tried: firefox -new-window http://127.0.0.1:6680/ This does work but again, there's still the address bar. The -ssb argument works with websites like google.com etc. but not local sites like the address I mentioned there. What do I do?
