Hi there,

On the 23. of Mai I first noticed that I am unable to download any files whatsoever. I tried downloading .exe files and also a .csv file. When I try to download one of these files it appears in the downloads window but immediately goes to the status "Failed". Any retry fails as well.

The same thing goes for extensions. I cannot download any extensions or plugins using my Firefox browser. Since I reinstalled Firefox I can now also not use Plex because Firefox can't install the required plugins.

I will attach screenshots of all the errors I get.

All of the above worked when I tried it on the Edge browser.

Firefox version: 126.0 Windows 11

Things I have tried to fix the issue:

  • Use the network connection from my phone instead of my home network
  • Disable firewall and windows defender
  • Reinstall Firefox
  • Refresh Firefox
  • Downgrade to version 125.0.1 and 122.0
  • Reset router to factory settings
  • Flush dns
  • Restart PC
  • Manually delete profile folder
  • Delete temp files
  • Change download destination
  • Disable "Block dangerous and deceptive content"
  • Troubleshoot Mode

Is Firefox using some other temporary folder for downloads?

Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I was in the middle of asking this question when I fixed (worked around) the problem so I'm posting more as a informative post as there is a lot of old misdirection out there now.

I am(was) unable to drag any URLs from the URI drop down field in the main interface to my bookmarks toolbar. Nor was any drag and drop functionality working in the "Customise Firefox" screen (right click space on url bar -> Customise Toolbar).

I have now found that resetting my zoom setting in preferences to 100% restores this functionality. The problem arose when I was using 120% zoom, NOT text only.

Hi,

The Lower Toolbar is quite handy, with for example Roboform.

Unfortunately, the way it's implemented, it comes above the lower part of the browser window, instead of being inserted at the bottom while the browser windows height is reduced.

That hides the search box when you type Control-F.

It would be nice if this could be addressed in a future release. I am using Firefox Developer 127.0b2.

I am using Firefox Developer Edition 127 b07, and that happens also in safe mode.

It used to work not too long ago with FF, and it works with Chrome latest.

Firefox periodically says I am "forbidden" to enter my Kaiser website (KP.org). I know what Mozilla recommends as a fix, which is to clear data and cookies. But this creates more problems because I have to re-enter passwords and other settings. This is a problem Mozilla's website reports has been occurring for YEARS! Why can't Mozilla/Firefox fix this? Please tell me there is a better way to fix this problem.

Sometimes drag functionality stops working. I can't grab a tab to move it to another position or to a new window. (Holding left click on the tab and moving the cursor does nothing). Also, re-merging the tab with another firefox window stops working. (Dragging a tab to a firefox window from another firefox window doesn't merge them. It does nothing) I can right click on the tab and select Move to move it to a new window but dragging stops working. I have to close Firefox and start it again (sometimes twice), then dragging starts working again. This happens multiple times a day. I am on Linux Mint and the version is 126.0 (64-bit). This problematic behavior has only recently began.

Just today, I can no longer access the Amazon website. The pages load halfway and then it just churns/spins and never completes loading the page. So far I've discovered no other websites that have the same problem.

I am able to access the Amazon website on three other browsers - Edge, Brave and DuckDuckGo - with no problems and normal loading speed. I don't use Chrome, so I can't speak to that.

I've tried clearing the cache and that did not help. I had a Firefox update installed a couple of days ago. Don't know how long it had been sitting there, as Firefox is almost always open and doesn't have the opportunity to update until I close everything and restart my computer, which I did a couple of days ago.

Windows 10 on a Dell pc/laptop. Firefox Version 126.0 (64-bit).

Any ideas on how to fix?

Hi all,

I feel like this is a problem that must have been experienced and solved a thousand times... however I've tried all the suggested fixes I can find and the problem still persists.

When I load Firefox the pages take ages to load. It doesn't matter what the page is, it takes ages, except that about: pages load fine, no problem. When I say pages take ages to load, I mean that everything about the page takes ages, not only the next, not on the images and other content etc, everything. This only started happening today and I only created a new profile a month or so ago. I don't have many tabs open (maybe 20) of which 9 are pinned. I do have lots of extensions installed.

I've tried troubleshooting/safe mode, that makes no difference.

Private browsing and loading another profile are fine, they don't have this problem.

I've cleared all cache and data, cookies, etc, including startup cache.

I've deleted the content-prefs file, and removed places files.

I've tried disabling and enabling hardware acceleration.

I've tried disabling TRR.

Probably some other things too, but so far nothing has worked.

Suggestions please! :)

Dear Firefox Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request the implementation of a feature in Firefox that I believe would greatly enhance user experience and accessibility on the web. Specifically, I am referring to the text fragment feature (#:~:text=) that is currently supported in browsers based on the Chromium engine, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

The text fragment feature allows users to link directly to specific pieces of text within a webpage, facilitating more precise navigation and making it easier to reference exact portions of content. This is particularly useful for academic citations, sharing specific excerpts from lengthy articles, and improving overall user interaction with web content.

For example, a URL formatted as https://example.com#:~:text=desired%20text%20fragment directs users not just to the page, but to the exact location of the specified text, highlighting it for easy identification. This can save users significant time and improve the efficiency of information retrieval.

Given Firefox's commitment to innovation and user-centric design, I believe that integrating this feature would be a valuable addition. It would not only bring Firefox in line with other major browsers in terms of functionality but also enhance its appeal to users who rely on this precise method of navigation.

I hope you will consider this suggestion and look forward to potentially seeing this feature in a future release of Firefox.

Thank you for your continued dedication to improving the Firefox browser.

Best regards, Grey Ronin
