I was messing around with Privacy & Security settings. Under Cookies & Site Data, I checked Delete Cookies & Site Data when Firefox closes. I've decided I don't like it and want to uncheck it. But now it's greyed out and I can't find any way to change it back. It says I'm in permanent private browsing mode. There MUST be a way to change this back to how it was! What is it???

I am unable to connect to the following URL https://lakmshaegov01.msha.gov/UserManagement/ChangePassword.aspx. All other browsers seem to work.

I ran an SSL Labs test and it confirms that all tested versions of Firefox fail. I would like to know if anyone can spot something that might allow me to connect by temporarily relaxing the security checks in Firefox for this site.

Hi, I can't find a way to set cookie rules globally that get automatically sent to websites I visit the first time. So my problem is I have to visit a lot of sites for research and every time get distracted by a cookie pop up that I have to accept or lose a lot of screen space. I have Asperger and was wondering, how to set in Firefox what kind of cookies I'm fine with and what don't, basically an API or standard or how you call it, browsers can communicate to cookie managing tools of websites automatically what cookies I want to set and what don't. Also I have some Wordpress websites, so I want to know if Firefos planes to provide a PlugIn for site owners so such automatic cookie settings can also work on my website. Maybe some sort of if-else states that the user of the browser can set, for example:

If website accepts that no cookie is needed - allow no cookies.

If Facebook Like Button is required of website - don't allow and inform me to search information on a competitor sites, via a Firefox pop up

If website allows to save my settings (like dark mode, layout option, ... - always allow

The problem with no automatic Browser wide solution is, in the heat of a work day, i just accept everything because I have no time to go in for every website and pick what cookies I want, and what don't.

Also I am a Designer not a Developer so I can't create such a prototype by myself, even if it would be beneficial for everybody.

What can I do, to get such a Feature, or does it already exist and if how is the API called so that I know how to search for if.

Thank you guys for this great Browser and have a great day

I cannot work out what is blocking the video content.

I am a long-time Firefox user, but I've noticed a recurring problem with Firefox on my Ubuntu system (Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, 64 bit; Gnome 3.6.3; Windowing system Wayland), which is that some of the text will sporadically be disrupted.

When I use "Inspect Element," it seems that the font being used is Twemoji Mozilla, which is surprising as the field is plain text, not emojis or wingdings.

The two images attached are what I'm seeing.

I'm using Firefox 81 on Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS When left unattended, Firefox (MainThread process exactly) continues to consume memory, and it returned to system only when I open about:memory or about:performance pages.

On about:memory / Measure I see that most memory is consumed by structured-clone-holder item 6.5Gb. WebContent process consumes stable amount (2..3Gb), because I have many open tabs, but this amount is not changed during the time.

Are there any methods to understand what is caused the structured-clone-holder to grow so big?

After a deletion of a profile; an attempt to sync back the preferences results in the search bar having the default engine not synchronised. It is overwritten to Google, despite doing sync for DuckDuckGo. I have done a parallel test on the "tracking protection" and the preference for that one does sync. Thank you for any suggestions!

EDIT: The DuckDuckGo addon accomplishes the desired effect. However, it only hides the problem.

Hi,

I have reinstalled my Debian, keeping of course my `/home`. New Firefox version is `68.12.0esr`. A new profile has been created, but I need the old one which I can set as default in the profile manager at the url `about:profiles`, but Firefox tells me "Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history.....". So, it seems I need to install the same version of Firefox I had before, but I don't know which one it was, and I would like to avoid to make many trials.

Is there a mean to know which Firefox version is associated to a given profile?

Works fine ... sometimes for days, sometimes for hours, then it crashes. (I don't join the entire log entries, it's some 5000 lines; so here are the always repeating lines of warnings and errors)

Today I got what I've seen described as the "Facebook White Screen of Death". I've tried: Reload Clear Facebook cookies (which implies logging back in) Clear site data Restart in Safe Mode None of these things make any difference. Still get only a white screen. Facebook works fine in the Chrome browser and in the Android app, so it must be a Firefox-specific issue, in my case. This is Firefox 81.0.2 under Ubuntu 20.04 The problem only started today. I've used Facebook with Firefox for years without problem.

Firefox Automatically Redirecting from HTTP to HTTPS [Resolved]

I just hit a bug in Firefox that was a real time eater for me.

Firefox was automatically redirecting to https for a website even when I typed in the full url http://192.168.138.210:80. It would always redirect even if there was no server listening at port 80! Even, if I added query parameters like ?q=123456, it still did it.

I had set up the web server to listen on port 80 at 192.168.138.210 and I could never get firefox to load the http page. I created a simple node http server and the same issue occurred. I finally realized that it was the browser was doing the https redirect. I disabled all extensions and it still occurred. I tried `Private Window` and the issue went away. Chrome was fine. I also tested `wget` and it was fine.

Once I realized the Firefox profile was the issue, I then cleared the cache in the browser and presto, problem went away.

I cannot repeat this error in Firefox so a Bug report is probably not warranted. In hindsight, I should have made a copy of the profile :(

Hope this information helps someone else avoid the pain of this and also a simple warning to those testing new web servers, don't assume any complex web browser is doing the right thing, use simple tools like wget or netcat to see whats going on at the lowest possible level before passing blame.

Here are a couple of goto *nix tests I have used:

Netcat trick to send a request to http://192.168.138.210:80/ % printf "GET / HTTP/1.0\r\n\r\n" | nc 192.168.138.210 80

Handy wget script that gives all the necessities of more complex calls like https for troubleshooting certificate resolution etc.: % curl -v -I --insecure https://google.com 2>&1 | egrep -v '^> |^< |^{|^}|^* T|^* AL|^ 0'

Some time a go I've configured access to the smart card in the Spanish id card in Firefox, and it work. But I'm recently trying to use again and it doesn't.

I'm in a Debian 10 with the libpkcs11-dnie installed (with its dependencies) and I've set it up in a firefox-beta. Is where I've added months a go the module (/usr/lib/libpkcs11-dnie.so), then I had logged in and saw the certificate in "Your Certificates".

Since then many updates came but I didn't need again to use this card. I'm trying it now that firefox-beta is 82.0 and the "log in" button is never enabled.

When I've tried with another firefox, for example the esr (78.3.0esr) coming with debian, I have to add this module as it wasn't there. I've clicked "Load" and fill the form with "module name" and "module filename" (the same file that I've mention before) and when I click 'ok', I receive an alert "Unable to add module". Same experience with firefox-stable (81.0.2) and with firefox-devel (82.0b9).

I don't even know if the issue comes from firefox. Is there a way to debug further the origin of this alert message or why this is not being recognized by the application?

Thanks

For example, this page mostly displays: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_lynx But items like the latin name does not (attached pic). Switching off the italics on the latin name causes it to display correctly.

Bolding text doesn't cause any issues.

My problem seems similar to this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/774797

However I can see Helvetica fonts just fine. I can cause the error when I switch it to italics. data:text/html,Helvetica Neue
''abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

this is a copy of something I just sent to the ubuntu forum. It explains my problem:

I have been noticing that, sometimes, I can't shut down a program. This has happened with firefox, thunderbird and, now, livepatch. When this happens it also means that , again for instance, I am having problems typing this as things freeze. I have tried to shut down stuff from the program (which accepts nothing and is frozen), from the dock, and also tried to run system monitor which started, had the icon but wouldn't open. Basically my machine is in partial lockdown and there doesn't seem to be a damned thing that I can do. I am resisting just pressing buttons (always a mistake) but this is really frustrating. Oh, the livepatch box, that receives input, is also dimmed and will not go away. This little note took me 15 minutes to type.
It got so bad that I started pushing buttons. The only other thing I had open was Firefox. I shutdown firefox and, suddenly, the livepatch connection, through software and updates, shut down on its own. For me this means that I have a problem with firefox and will be paying them a visit. Still, any thought are welcome as this one is starting to really get to me.
   thank you..................

I just changed my browser because the version I had before wasn't compatible with a site I needed to use for school. On this version instead of using the cursor designs that are used everywhere else, it uses it's own versions and I can't find a way to change this. When I go to click on a link it turns into this really ugly version of the hand cursor instead of the normal one. I know this doesn't seem important but it's actually triggering panic attacks for me. Please help! I'm using linux mint.
