My default search engine was Norton Safe Search but now it does not appear as one of the options to choose. I cannot remember all of them. Bing and Google are two of them but not Norton Safe Search although I have been able to add it to the toolbar. Why is it no longer one of the options?

Every time I browse incognito mode and download files (pdf mostly), then I exit the browser and my files disappear from the Downloads folder in Windows 11. It has been like this for a long time now. I have to remember to cut and paste them to another folder before shutting the browser down, but when I forget it's annoying. Can this be fixed?

In regular web pages, I'm able to hover over an URL / picture w/ URL behind it, etc.... It shows up on the status bar at the bottom of the page (that's what it used to be called). Sometimes I can't.

Somewhere around the same time as I started noticing this, I had just upgraded to a Win11 computer. So, when I try to hover over a suspicious link, I get nothing!

Is there code these people can put in that shields them from hover? So, we can't see what we're getting into? If so, then I presume if I can't hover, don't click... Right?

TIA

Very often, recently, I can't communicate with an organization via their form on the WWW internet. After minutes of frustration, I change to a Chrome or Safari browser on my Mac, and it works just fine.

One of the problems is when filling out a form, Firefox says over and over there is an error. Safari takes that same data just fine, no error.

There are others, but I'll have to wait until Firefox fails again since it's not that easy to reproduce what happened days or weeks ago!

firefox is using so much memory that it is causing lag and loading problems.

i know that the root of my problem is that i have an unholy amount of tabs open all the times but if i go into the process manager for firefox i can see that the memory problem is actually usually only 1 or 2 tabs that are using over 1GB of memory. this has only been a problem in the last few weeks so i am not sure if something has changed on the firefox side of things.

I looked into tab unloading and this seems like it would solve my problems. however the unloading process only happens automatically when the total amount of memory that firefox is using approaches the maximum amount of memory you system has available. with 32GB of ram and firefox reaching not even 16GB when completely stretched the automatic process will likely never hapen. yet firefox is still using enough memory that it is causing itself problems.

i dont really want to have to unload my tabs all the time to keep firefox's memory in check. is there anyway to lower the amount of memory that causes firefox to automatically unload tabs? i have seen extensions that say they will sleep tabs that are not being used. however they all seem to just sleep tabs that are not currently in use rather than sleeping tabs that have not been used that day.

i feel like the tab uploader is such a good feature in firefox that i would love to be able to use it to solve my problems. however i am not sure how to make this happen in the laziest way possible.

Firefox is my default browser. Up until a few months ago, if I clicked a link in an Outlook email, it took me to Firefox and opened the site. Now it takes me to Microsoft Edge.

At the same time, another problem arose, albeit minor. When I am using Firefox and attempt to email a link, there is a message, "Navigation failed" and a blank screen appears. This is not a big problem, since when I open Outlook the email is waiting to be sent. But this too smacks of something Microsoft is doing to sabotage the competition. I have Startparge set as my default search engine. I used to type directly into the address bar (see first image).

Press Enter, and the Startpage results page for this search phrase would show up. Somehow, this has now changed. I press Enter, but the result is just the Startpage home page, with a blank search box (see second image). So I then have to type the same phrase in again in Startpage's own box. This just trips me up.

The crazy thing is that this only happens sometimes - but more often than not. I haven't seen it work right for weeks: I just did it now to make screenshots, and it worked wrong. I just did it again and it worked as expected: pressing Enter took me to Startpage's results.

Any clues how to change settings to fix this?

I lost my New Tab Page, the default page. I see the article that explains how to disable extensions, but the directions start with clicking on Menu. I'm installing a Docker service set onto a new Ubuntu system, that has Firefox installed by default. One of the services is a GUI application.

However, when opening Firefox for the first time, a dialog shows up that I would like to disable (attached).

How can I disable this?

I'm running Firefox using: "/usr/bin/firefox --kiosk http://localhost"

I've already followed a lot of the suggestions in here: https://searchfox.org/mozilla-release/source/remote/shared/RecommendedPreferences.sys.mjs (and verified they are indeed set after installing my own "user.js" file), but I cannot find an about:config preference that disables what I'm still seeing.

Any help or ideas?

Hello,

I use firefox synch (on 2 notebooks, 1 mobile device) with an outlook email adress, yet when I for example go on youtube my android gmail adress ist automatically filled in. Which is quite strange because it is neither stored in the firefox password manager nor did I give authorization to do so. I am using the lates version of Firefox (v.122.0.1).

Does anyone know why this happens?

Thx in advance, Timo
