As above. FF installed the update despite the checked option to NOT install automatically. NO "old firefox" folder was created-anywhere. No other profile is present that has the old data. My adult daughter's grad school laptop. Years of bookmarks, logins and I do not know what all ARE GONE!! I allowed FF to download but NOT INSTALL-since it was not my machine and I wanted to avert any disaster (I, in fact, looked at the options first, to make sure) NOW WHAT?? Is that is a bug?? Why was there no "old FF" created? Why did it install regardless of instructions to the contrary. Is there some other place to look? She does not seem to have any automatic backups for FF profiles.

I got a very official looking red screen with the Firefox logo titled "Urgent Firefox update". It had the normal looking opening file box asking me if I wanted to save the file: firefox-patch.exe, a binary file from https://ahghointernetno.net . I closed the window and started researching if this was real. I did make a print screen copy to WordPad but was unable to upload it here do to unsupported file type.

Where can I download Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR 52) for Windows in order to continue using the Session Manager extension? It's extremely important and vital that I am able to restore my historical sessions and also save multiple sessions going forward.

When I try to download it, I can see it will be 60 version instead.

Unfortunately I mistakenly updated my ESR 52 version today without realizing I'd lose that extension. This is very frustrating, so to alleviate the issue, I'd just like to have the older version and stick with it. Thank you.

I'm getting a new (Windows 8.1) computer. I want to be able to use Firefox and Thunderbird just as I left them on the old (Windows 7) computer. Is this the right way to do it:

1. Backup both (to a removable disk) on the old computer with Mozbackup. 2. Download and install both on the new computer. Download and install Mozbackup of the new computer. 3. Restore from the removable disk using Mozbackup on the new computer.

Is this the right idea?

WHERE ARE THEY?!? i have literally MANY HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of Notes if you count what is in each bookmark with literally Decades of content in it which is the very Reason i use your browser over all the others - Notes that i am now utterly unable to see - ANY OF THEM. (I've previously posted this issue on a couple of other forums, with no help thus far. If you've seen either of those posts, please forgive the duplication; I'm a bit desperate.)

After updating Firefox yesterday and restarting my Win7 I was unable to open my Firefox. The error message was "Can't open this item. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted." I was given the choice to remove it or not. When I chose not, the event and error message reiterated; so I chose to remove. Thereafter I've been unable to bring up or download Firefox, with the following error message with each try:

XML Parsing Error: undefined entity Location: chrome//browser/content/browser.XUL Line Nunber 50, Column 1:

I am running XP SP3 and Firefox just updated to 49.0.1 and suddenly....NO Firefox!

I can see that the program is running in the Task Manager Processes but the application does not run on my computer. If I try to load it again, another instance will show up in task manager processes - each time it is about 48,000K.

I have tried:

shutting down/restarting ending process/process tree

And I have tried all steps for a clean install with and without uninstalling the application:

-uninstall in the add/remove utility (will not uninstall) -deleting installation directory (will not delete, says it is in use by another person or program) -deleting temporary Firefox data (I could accomplish that) -deleting Windows Firefox prefetch (I could also accomplish that) -re-installing 49.0.1 (yes I can install, but to no avail)

I also tried an online tech support that tried to fix things in safe mode. Futile, and then the computer got stuck in safe mode and would not boot into normal. The computer had to be set for a week ago, which gave me Firefox back at version 48. But even that would not open because of something about XPCOM (sorry I am unable to remember the exact error message).

After that I once more uninstalled and re-installed 49.0.1. It's in my programs. But still nothing. I'm exhausted.

Do I just give up on Firefox? Any other possibilities?

Thanks to anyone who might be able to work with me on this.

I have been advised to update Flashplayer. When I have attempted to do this through Ff, Ff has blocked the update. So I went to Adobe. It now appears that I have successfully installed update 20.0.0.267 directly from Adobe, today. It is listed in All Programs. Yet I am still getting a message that I need to install or update Flash. From two different sites.

What is going on?

I have been using nightly for some time to get 64 bit performance but now that Firefox is 64 bit I would like to switch to it. I'm not really a computer whiz and haven't been contributing to nightly's development. I don't know whether i must first uninstall nightly & then install Firefox latest 64 bit Quantum from scratch, or whether I could simply install Firefox over Nightly. Or perhaps i can keep my favorites, cookies, passwords & addons etc by copying my roaming and local profiles? Thanks in advance for your help

Hello,

I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox and already, I have had problems. I downloaded Firefox and opened it when the download was finished and tried to sign into my Google account, when a lot of random adverts appeard, and my anti-virus popped up blocking whatever it was. At this point I was really concerned as I had just completed a full system scan before changing browsers, and the scan was clean. I then looked at the Add-Ons, which I found two that I had never heard of. I'm not sure whether they were on my computer already or had been added as I downloaded Firefox. I'm confused as I have never seen the two Add-Ons before, not even in Chrome.

Both Add-Ons are disabled and deleted and as far as I'm aware, everything is running as it should be. However, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem before, and if so, what should be done about it. I'm usually very careful when online, so I really don't know where these Add-Ons came from, or if they could be harmful.

Any help with this would be great!
