Hello,

I am using firefox 126.0 on linux mint 21.2 with an policy file in the directory "/usr/lib/firefox/distribution/policies.json". This is just working fine with one little problem. When opening firefox the first time, it does not apply the policy to set the startpage to the url in the policy file. All other policies seem to be applied correctly. I figured out, that at the first start of firefox, no user profile (folder) "~/.mozilla/" exists. When i click the little "house" button on the the top besides the refresh buton, the correct startpage is shown. After the first start this folder is created and then the policies work fine even the startpage shows up directly. Can I somehow use a template profiles-folder for new users, so they have the correct firefox feeling at the first start or is there something missing in my policy file ? The policy file has rights set to "644 root:root" Image of the policy file is attached because I can't upload files other then images.

Thank you.

Hello,

My company recently started using ActivTrak Monitoring software and I need some help configuring the setup for Apple computers. I'm trying to create a custom .mobileconfig to automatically turn on the browser extension and then stop the end users from turning the add-on off. I can successfully install and lock the extension on once installed but need to manually activate the add-on first. What do I need to add to the plist to enable the extension automatically?

Thank you!

Hi Dear support mozila Firefox IT team,

I need to find out if there is an option on the user's computer in the local network, how to connect to the bypass list of the Firefox browser with a hidden version. Which aims to adjust, add and modify without bothering the user to quickly organize the work. If there is an option, please send me a guide.

We have 50 workstations set up for certain jobs and the users roam as needed. Each workstation has two printers using different media. the printers are controlled by having two instances of Firefox with each having a user profile to use one printer or the other. In addition to printer settings we set a number of other profile settings such as silent printing etc.

Having a profile per user requires a great deal of setup work to allow different users to log in with authentication and to align the printers with the programs which will print to them.

A solution that would allow us to write a copy of a master profile to each new user via a program would be nearly perfect. Thank you,

In our organization, we enforce through group policy to clear cookies and site data each time the browser is closed. I see there's an exception list to define certain sites that it will not clear cookies or site data. Where in group policy can this exception be set.

This option can be seen (allow) from the article here under Block cookies and site data for more than one website > Step 3 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/block-websites-storing-cookies-site-data-firefox

Thanks,

We use GPO to push out our Firefox homepage and bookmarks. I get totally different results for each user, some will make changes right away if I add a new book marks, but they don't see older ones?

I decided to build a few test machines (we don't have time to build a dev envir) and it applies the GPO for the home page but not the bookmarks, I can see the book marks in the registry even but nothing on firefox. Anyone have a guess?

thanks David

Hi, Background: a few months ago I had to redeploy the CA for a network I manage. I was able to do so and publish the new intermediate CA's cert via Active Directory. Since then, I've updated certs on webhosts with certs from the new CA. Whenever a user uses FF (version 91.12.0) to browse to a site with the newly signed cert, I get an error stating "sec_error_ocsp_old". I've been able to temporarily advise users to disable OCSP Validation in FF security settings, but I'd REALLY like to fix this.

Other browsers (Edge, Chrome, Opera) all load the sites without issue.

Using this the below article, I double checked the time settings on the CA, Webserver, and clients: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-time-errors-secure-websites

All the machines/VMs in question show the same time source, time, time zone, and sync interval.

I'm at a loss for what is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some users in my organization have been complaining about FireFox location protection since the update to 103.0.2. We would like an option to completely disable this "feature". Our users are complaining about having to individually make exceptions via the shield icon and selecting custom and unchecking all boxes does not work for our use case scenario. Is there any option to disable this completely or are there plans in future releases to allow us a disable feature (like you used to have) or is the only solution to switch our users to Chrome? Thanks

I am an administrator at a university and we use Blackboard and Zoom as a couple of the tools at our university. We install Firefox on all of our PCs across campus. After a recent update, when our instructors try to launch Zoom using the integration setup in Blackboard, the meeting fails to launch. We have found that disabling Enhanced Protection fixes this issue. Is there a way to add this exception to an install file that can be sent across many PCs on our campus? We have hundreds of PCs and going from one to another to install this exception would not be practical.

Do you have any suggestions? Justin

My organization would like to keep automatic updates for Firefox enabled. However, each update prompts end users to create a new profile. We've provided them with instructions on how to navigate to about:Profiles and find the Firefox profile that has their bookmarks. The same set of instructions then guides them on how to save that profile as their default too. Unfortunately, our end users aren't very good at this and sometimes they have to repeat the process for a few days in a row. Which I assume is due to subsequent Firefox updates, but I'm not sure.

That said, is there anything we can do that'd avoid end users from having to go through this process for every Firefox update?

Hello

We use our own CA to secure some websites on the internal network. Until version 101.0, the SSL was working correctly. I have updated today to firefox 101 and all our internal websites started giving SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN. There are no issues with external CA issued certificates, so I'm assuming it is something related to the way we generate the certificates. Were there any changes done at version 101 which might reject certificates with a valid common name? Is there a way to disable it and revert to version 100 options?

Thank you

Hi,

I deployed the last Firefox ESR update and I just found about this new feature : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-downloads-preferences-using-downloads-menu

So files are now downloaded and users are no longer prompted for what to do. My question is can we change this to "Ask whether to open or save files" using policies.json?

Kind regards,

McB
