I had installed FF version 78 ESR in a newly formatted SSD back in 2020. At that time, two profiles were created automatically under the Profiles folder: xxxxxxx.default, and xxxxxxx.default-esr. The first profile, the one without the "esr" suffix was never used - I don't even know how to switch into it.

The non-esr profile folder had always contained only 6 files totaling about 70 KB. The contents never changed - until a few days ago.

A few days ago I noticed the non-esr profile folder was modified. It now contains 28 files totaling 125 MB. 26 of the 28 files were modified on the same day (May 23rd), at 2 different time points. That folder and contents haven't changed since then.

I continue to use FF using the esr profile without apparent problems, but I would really like to know how/why the non-esr profile got modified suddenly. Any ideas, anybody?

Hello, For me, there is no substitute for browsing with Firefox. But for some time now I've been getting notices that I'm not using the current browser version, for example in my email program and the banking application. However, Firefox info in the menu says that I am using the current version and there are no updates available. Here is the Firefox version shown to me: 78.15.0esr (64-bit) I work with an iMac of the following version: iMac (21.5 inch, from 2010) - OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 (15G22010); - Processor: 3.06GHz Intel Core i3; - Memory: 4GB 1333MHz DDR3; - Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB Maybe my computer is too old for the latest version, but why does Firefox Info show me that the browser is up to date and there are no updates? Suddenly when I try to go on Youtube, I get messages that I'm blocking ads. I'm on a Mac-mini using X El Capitan V10.11.6, which is the highest I can upgrade to. I'm using Firefox Browser 78.15 (64-bit) and info shows it's up to date. My old Safari browser still will work with Youtube, but Foxfire is my go-to browser.

I have been requested by e-mail to update my Firefox 78.15.Oesr (64 bits) before the end of March. Is this update compatible with my MacBookPro5,4 with IOS El Capitan 10.11.6? Please note that I cannot install a more recent IOS. Without updating my present Firefox, would I still have access to all my favorite folders and applications? Thanks for your help. I am using 78.15.0 esr Firefox browser on early 2008 iMac with OS X 10.11.6. I can't realistically update the OS, as all advice seems to be that anything above 10.11.6 does not work well with the 2008 iMac. 78.15.0 esr Firefox browser is fantastic and I have been happily using it for a few years now. Why force me to stop? Why force me to stop using my super 27" screen iMac, which still works superbly well and would cost many thousands to replace with a new model?

I have an older MacBook Pro with iOs 10.111111... I tried to update myFirefox browser and found out after the fact that it's not supported by the version I have. I cannot Update the iOs without buying a new McBook... Sadly, no $. Can you assist me in procuring a Firefox version or a link to one compatible with iOs 10.11111...??? I love my Mac but I can't stand Safari...

I accidentally deleted the blue star on one of my book-marked items and am struggling to get it back. Its very useful so i can see immediately if somethings already been bookmarked. Plus I could remove easily and/or put into other folders. All solutions appear to be to go to customize firefox and to drag and drop in some bar at the top of the page BUT when i do this it STILL doesn't come back. HELP!!! (Please explain in total laymens terms and don't nauseate me with technolingo.)

The top informational header for my Earthlink email has vanished on Firefox. I still receive email but cannot reply/forward via Firefox. a complete and correct Earthlink email is still found on internet and their website.

How do I get the header for my email back on Firefox?

For the past several weeks when I click on Messenger from the Facebook web page I get a blank page with the Facebook header. Same if I click the little shortcut button (brings up a blank box). I've cleared all cookies and cache but no change. I do not have this problem with Safari so I believe it is a Firefox issue and not a Facebook issue.

been spending the day updating passwords and i finally had to update my firefox account password, sadly i had lost the original password so i had to fully reset it. Idk if that contributed to the issue at all but ill mention it just in case this is a known problem. now im trying to sign back in and it just keeps getting stuck loading saying "working" some other things, I use waterfox as my laptop runs macOS 10.11.16, so I'm also worried that this is not a bug but a "feature" intended to push users to update their browsers. as i type this its been "working" on signing me in for about 5 minutes and i doubt its doing anything but spinning that wheel around for show. i was able to sign back in on my phone, any help?

I just "discovered" the existence of ESR, as 78.15 on my wife's beloved 2009 Mac OS 10.11. Our newer Mac is ok with OS 12.6 and Firefox 110, auto updating. We dislike relentless whiz-bang changes, and need just email, simple games, and basic browsing on the older Mac; email, moderate browsing, flight simulation, and some streaming on the newer. In plain English, please, what are pro and con of switching it to ESR?

Hi, my 2008 Mac Pro uses OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.6 and I am on Firefox 78.15.0esr, I cannot install the new upgrade. Can I continue using the older version of Firefox even though the sync will not work anymore?

My apple computer is 2008 imac and on the 78.15.Oesr and no more updates exist, will i still be able to use firefox web browser after March 31st

Hi there, Please see attached image of screenshots of searches on Firefox and Chrome. The Firefox search images are incomplete whereas the Chrome images are complete. This has only started happening on Firefox recently. Can you please help me resolve this issue. I have cleared the cache & cookies, restarted my macbook etc but nothing has worked. I have the latest version of Firefox 78.15.0esr (64-bit) on my Macbook Pro. Netflix says, "Looks like your browser is no longer supported. Please install the latest version or install another browser. Error Code F7121-3078" (see image 1).

Netflix streaming works fine on Opera, but I can't get it working on Firefox, even though it was working fine on Firefox a couple of days ago (Sept 15, 2022). Any help you can offer would be appreciated very much. I have two plug ins: Facebook Container and EFF Privacy Badger. There is no update available to update Firefox. It appears that when the new version of Widevine updated yesterday (see image 2), the browser stopped working for streaming on Netflix. Widevine version 4.10.2209.1 (updated Sept 16, 2022).

Two questions regarding FireFox ESR for legacy macOS:

Is there any plan to make Yelp compatible with FireFox ESR? It hasn't worked correctly for a couple of years…

With the conversion from Intel to Apple Silicone macs, any idea how much longer will FireFox ESR support the Intel platform?
