After some time of using Firefox, opening Google somehow "breaks". Let me explain:

Upon starting FF, all works fine. After some time, however, say 5-10 minutes, when I click the URL bar and try to google something, nothing happens. If a page is already open, the browser will stay on this page. If I opened a new tab, the URL will change to the relevant google URL, but the actual tab won't change at all. Dev-Console shows an empty HTML page. It's not even attempting to load the page really, the network panel shows a single empty GET request to google and nothing more. Even if I try to go to google.com directly, nothing changes. Meanwhile, all other sites I tried (youtube, amazon, reddit, what have you) still load and behave normally. It's as if FF goes completely brain dead as soon and only if google is involved.

I can "circumvent" this by going to some other google product, say google docs, and then selecting google search in the "google apps" menu in the upper right. But the only way to "fix" it is to restart the browser entirely.

This only happens on the laptop provided by my employer and only since today. On my personal laptop, running the same version of FF with the same account and addons it works just fine. It even happens in troubleshoot mode with no addons running. Even a system restart doesn't fully fix this issue.

I'm really at a loss here, any help would be appreciated.

Here you will find a screenshot of what happens if I open a new tab and try to google "test". For whatever reason, it didn't let me upload to this form directly.

For a few days now this thing with the tabs is driving me crazy. When I click on some link a new tab opens, then I click on another link another tab opens. Following some instructions I went to about:config where I was asked to look for neww, then change the default from 3 to 1. That solved the issue with opening multiple tabs, but now when in gmail and I click on a link it remains in the same page and I have to keep getting back to gmail to continue reading my emails.

That was not the behavior before. When I clicked on a link in my email I was taking to a new tab. Which was OK. But then lately every time I click on something it keeps opening new tabs. This is so annoying.

What can I do to go back to the settings I had a week or more ago.

This is FRUSTRATING!!!!

This only happens on mobile. Whenever I leave the Firefox app (without closing) and reopen it, the website reloads and everything I had done beforehand is lost. This makes it impossible to use Firefox along with other apps at the same time. The same issue also occurs when I have to open another app (from Firefox) to upload a file; after selecting an image to upload, I'm back to Firefox, but the website reloads and forgets I was uploading something.

TLDR; websites reload upon leaving Firefox, without closing the application

I've tried everything I could find , to add to my userChrome.css or to change about_config, but to no avail .

Bookmarks in Firefox use ellipsis , is there any way to use them in tabs as well ?

My browser just updated to version 100.0 and now there's a big white block at the top that blocks access to tabs and the Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons at the top.

I found a few other articles going back to 2015 with this same issue and the only solution that helped a tiny bit was checking or unchecking the Title Bar box. Unchecking it helps a little bit as you can see in the attached screenshot.

The top of the image is with the Title Bar box checked, the bottom of the image is with that box unchecked.

Any idea how to resolve this?

I've recently made the switch to Firefox coming from Opera, and there's a few behaviours I'm missing / haven't figured out how to set up to match what I'm used to. Could someone point me in the right direction?

1) When I click an external link (e.g. in Discord) to open in browser (Firefox is now default), it opens the link but it overrides the currently selected tab rather than opening a new tab.

2) Following on from that, clicking the link also doesn't make Firefox the active window. Previously if I opened a new link from elsewhere, the other browser would come to the front. Can Firefox do that too?

I currently have it set so that opening a link in a new tab doesn't switch to that tab. Which is behaviour I want (if I'm doing that in Firefox itself).

My laptop had to do a restart and I have about 10 pinned tabs and I went to open firefox and they are all gone. I've tried to do the restore session but they aren't popping back up. How do I get them back???

I use FF with the setting on start to restore the tabs of the last session.

Now I need a specific tab active/focused on start. (It is a WebRTC for our phone system and if it not focused at start ring tone will not be played)

Is there a way to start with my last opened tabs restored but this specific tab active and in selected/focused.

Pinning this tab seems to load it but WILL not play a ringtone without clicked first. If I end FF with this tab active and therefore the tab is active on next start the ring tone will be played.

But knowing me I WILL forget to click on this tab either on start or before ending FF.

I have a lot of tabs open. I like it that way, but if I close a tab the "hidden tabs" feature gets activated. And all the tabs go away. It isn't a huge issue it is just very annoying. How can I disable this annoying feature?

I am wondering if it is at all possible to adjust the settings when pulling a tab into a new window. For example, if I am running Firefox fullscreen I would like the tab that I pull to be opened in windowed form. I noticed that this is typically the case when using Chromium-based browsers, but noticed that on Firefox it stays in the format as the previous window. (if already windowed the pulled tab will also be windowed) is there a way to ensure that the pulled tab will always be windowed?

When FF on my Windows 10 machine crashed FF asked if I wanted to refresh FF. I said yes, and FF reopened as usual with all my tabs. After I closed and reopened FF the next time, it reopened without any of my tabs. I then discovered that FF had unchecked the “Startup Open previous windows and tabs” box, which I had previously religiously monitored to be sure it was checked. So I lost all my previous tabs.

In my sessionstore-backups folder I found the file upgrade.jsonlz4-20 as last in a list of three more recent file names. I then dropped the file upgrade.jsonlz4-20 in the scrounger tool on this site: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/scrounger.html. It expanded in the big window, and when I clicked on Save uncompressed JSON as text, I see all the URLs run together in a text file.

How can I use this information to recover my tabs, please? If so, how? Or is there a better way to use the Scrounger – or another – tool?

Otherwise if I delete the three more recent file names in the list above the upgrade.jsonlz4-20 file, and restart FF will I recover the missing tabs? If so would I the check or uncheck the Startup Open previous windows and tabs box?

Lastly, can I restore my missing tabs using Windows’ “System restore” tool from 3 days before the crash?

Hi there,

"When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is happening - even though the box is unchecked. Only in favorites bar, not in web page or Firefox homepage Shortcuts (1 row or 2 rows) or Recent activity.

It's very irritating, so i hope there is a solution...?
