Trojan Virus - Beginning 4/13/2022

Windows 10 Pro v. 21H2 - Thunderbird v. 91.8.1

Windows Security: 4/13/2022 - detected 14 Severe Threats from inbound emails infected with Trojan:HTML/Phish.RA!MTB. 4/14/2022 - detected 23 more since then - "only" 27 more, because I stopped opening Thunderbird except when absolutely necessary..

By that time, Outlook 2016 was also up and running on the same computer and receiving the same email account's messages.

When Thunderbird is shut down, not one Severe Threat is seen by Windows Security. Outlook does not allow infected messages to get through. The moment I open Thunderbird, the virus flood begins with pent up fervor.

Conclusion: Thunderbird has severe security issues. Not Windows. Not Outlook.

With respect, what's going on?

I try to be on top of my digital privacy, and try to enable all privacy related options available, but I just learned that for a number of month, Firefox mobile had been sending each app open to Facebook which they logged in their "Off-Facebook Activity". Attached is a section of that downloaded report.

Why is Firefox doing this, and how can I stop it? Based on the work put in to make the Facebook container, I'd imagine that Firefox is trying to protect user's data, but here it's looking like they're turning around and just sending them that data directly

password completion fails for moz-proxy:// on Android

Hi. I use Firefox Nightly and I enabled a secure proxy over TLS using only the built-in features, no addons.

My about:config : network.proxy.type = 2 network.proxy.autoconfigurl = data:text/plain,function FindProxyForURL(u,h){return "HTTPS my-secure-proxy:443";}

When I open any site for the first time it asks for the proxy credentials as expected: The proxy moz-proxy://my-secure-proxy:443 is requesting a username and a password.

After entering the credentials I confirm to save them and as long as the Firefox app is not stopped it works. However, when the app is restarted it asks for the password again with both fields blank and after entering the same credentials it asks me to update the saved credentials.

This only happens on Android. Firefox for Windows with the same proxy settings can autocomplete the moz-proxy:// password.

I think it has something to do with the OS keyring unable to store the passwords for unknown URI schemas.

Is there some workaround for that?

I've been using Outlook Express (from XP) for years, even into the Windows 10 era with a patched version of XP. Since GMail will no longer support it after May 2022 I decided to migrate to Thunderbird Portable.

Since 91.8.1 doesn't import from Outlook Express, I first used Thunderbird Portable 52.9.1 x86 (last version that supports XP) to import mails, accounts and whatever else it imports. I then set up a Primary Password, and painstakingly manually added all rules from Outlook Express to Thunderbird's "filters". After everything was up and running, I upgraded to Thunderbird Portable 91.8.1 x86.

For some reason, when I try to login to any GMail account, after the login, pass, allow Thunderbird as email client, a popup window appears asking me to "Change Password", but whatever password I put, it always says "Unable to change password". If I go to "Privacy & Security", "Use a Primary Password" is disabled, and if I check it, it asks me to enter and re-enter a new password, but it also says "Unable to change Primary Password".

II tried both commands listed in the link below, both seem to work by pressing the Reset button, but the error console seems to output a uncaught exception. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-master-password#w_resetting-your-master-password-if-you-have-forgotten-it

Any more suggestions?

In my language: "kokoonpanoa ei voitu vahvistaa", assembly could not be validated. (finnish-english)

I have before could used microsoft outlook e-mail in thunderbird but not anymore? There is in yellow box something about server and does not accept?

Could it be because sometime ago i added two-step log-in to outlook?

I have then used browser e-mail or microsoft windows e-mail but would like to get it back to thunderbird?

A customer shared his Firefox login with me to share his passwords. I logged in with his account, downloaded his passwords and logged out directly afterwards, but now he is reporting that he has ALL my passwords. How can undo this? I never gave him access to my account and I never clicked on sync or something?

Dear supporters,

I wonder why the images from my domain https://cbproads.com does not load on Private windows. It loads fine on normal Firefox browser. I have disabled the Enhanced Protection in Private Window and found the images are loading fine.

I am not sure why the images from my domain is loading on other domain when it is embedded? There is no issue when images other than to my domain embedded in browsing domain. Then Why this issue is triggers only to a particular domain?

This issue is only in Private Window mode.

This has just started happening since I was forced to reinstall windows after a critical failure with my MBR for some reason.

I have all the settings where they should be to prevent websites from continually being logged out when I close Firefox....but each and every time I start up a browser window again...I am asked to sign in again no matter what. I am not so concerned about a majority of them, but I had it so that when my Firefox browser first opened, it went directly to the Google home page and already had me signed into my Google/Gmail account. But now...nope. I have to sign in every. Single. Time!

Right now, I have all my settings marked as I have seen in numerous other posts:

I have made sure that there ARE checks in the boxes for:

  • Remember browsing and download history
  • Remember search and form history
  • Clear history when Firefox closes

And inside the History settings, only the cache is marked to clear every time Firefox closes.

I have made sure that there are NOT checks in the boxes for:

Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed Always use private browsing mode

And inside the History settings, there is no box checked for:

  • Browsing & download history
  • Active logins
  • Form & search history
  • cookies
  • site settings
  • Offline website data

None of the topic discussions about this or any combination of settings have worked for me thus far, and it getting to be quite maddening at this point. I need some help here so that when I open Firefox, I am not constantly logged out of

Prevent invalidated fingerprint from accessing saved logins

Hello,

I have a security suggestion for Firefox for Android.

Android API allows apps to be aware that a new fingerprint was enrolled in the device, preventing potentially unauthorized access to apps (in case of a leaked PIN or device theft). https://developer.android.com/reference/android/security/keystore/KeyPermanentlyInvalidatedException

For me, it will be a great security improvement if Firefox could be able to detect new fingerprints enrollment in my device and prevent access to my passwords, maybe asking for my Firefox account password one more time.

Thanks!
