When I try to set up Thunderbird on a new computer, it won't connect. And Thunderbird changes the port settings that the provider uses to something else. So I can't use thunderbird with my email address: sheilah@got.net

I think the question says it all. The "Import" function in Thunderbird does NOT do it, no matter how hard people insist that's all you need to do.

Not being able to completely rebuild what I had in Outlook is a deal-breaker, so if this can't be done, someone please tell me now!!!

Hi, A couple of weeks ago the Mozilla Thunderdirb I have installed on my laptop had an update. Since then the programme does not start. How can I fix this issues? Thank yuo in advance, George

I have tried multiple suggestions from the help site. Still cannot get Thunderbird to accept settings -

 Protocol:    IMAP
 Hostname: imap.mail.yahoo.com
 Port:           993
 Security:  SSL/TLS
 Authent    oAuth2

What am I doing wrong?

I am running Thunderbird 115.5.0 on a Win 7 Pro PC (yeah, I know). I recently retired and am trying to change from my work e-mail settings to my personal Gmail account. I have the incoming server set to pop3.gmail.com and the port to 995. Authentication is SSL/TLS and normal password. The outgoing server is set to smtp.gmail.com and authentication is No Authentication, with port 465. When I click on the Get Messages icon Thunderbird doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something else I need to do, or does one of the settings need changing?

now have a second 'newer' PC, runnng W7 ultimate however I want TB to be 100% same on both machines. TB will not allow(even see) an 'addon' called 'confirmbeforedelete' or 'recoverdeletedmessages' which work GREAT on the XP machine. Both PCs have TB, version 52.3.0(32bit) so I'm confused as to why these addons aren't available.

Any help is appreciated.

I am attempting to import my Windows Live Mail 2012 to Mozilla Thunderbird. I created a new folder on "Local Folders" I right clicked on the new folder but there was no option to select ImportExportTools > Import all messages.

Previous use with OE I could open a pdf in Nitro reader and click send email and then OE would open in a send window. Using Thunderbird the software opens but just in the general start page. Am I missing a setting?

As far as I can determine, the newer MSN mail/explorer no longer has an export option. The only thing you can do is print the list, and I did so to a PDF file, but first wasted a LOT of printer paper. As near as I can tell, the file format is a bit hard to convert to just a CSV file, other than by hand, which would take a very long time. I started doing it on Excel but it would take a very, very long time. So, I'd even be willing to pay for a service/program that would be able to generate a CSV file in Thunderbird format. I'd appreciate any help or ideas. Please note that MSN has changed; anything that you google or so far in Thunderbird help, will not work as there is no longer an export function. I'd be thrilled to know I missed something! Sheila

See the attached snip. Regardless of whether i check the "Always perform......" box or not or click the Set As Default button or the Skip button this message ALWAYS appears. I can click the X to close and press on but it is getting very annoying. Any ideas friends?

I'm a complete Thunderbird newbie, so maybe I'm overlooking something obvious. I successfully installed Thunderbird 45.5.1 for Linux on my PC running Puppy Linux. All folders imported and I can send and receive emails normally.

But there is nothing in my address book so apparently my contacts did not transfer. Do I need to manually import them from my Hotmail.com (Outlook.com) account?

Hi, i had a outlook account among others in my thunderbird. But i had to reset my pc, so i'm installing all the accounts again. All them went well except the outlook where is says that my password or email are wrong. I have checked lots of time and it's correct and it still says that it's wrong. Any help? Thank you

My husband has Thunderbird for his emails. I am trying to set up Thunderbird for my emails. I am not able to get past the point where you must select IMAP or POP3. System seems stuck on "checking password". I've had Microsoft outlook for a long time. I want to set up Thunderbird. We have a home based business. I need my email system up and running. Everything else seems OK. All folders are there except one. I've tried turning off computer and reopening Thunderbird. The folder is still missing. When I access the email through MSN.com it is OK

Transfer from Outlook to TB works fine and I see all messages. Then I copy the Outlook Import.sbd file to flash drive and drag to the desktop on my MAC. It imports into Apple mail and the folders show but I can't see any messages. Checking in Finder the file contains over 2 GB of data but apparently the format is still off. I have tried several times to no avail!
