Some values are not stored in profiles, so where?

Hello,

I just copied my whole profile folder from a Debian 12 (Thundebird 115.7) to a Ubuntu 22.04 (Thunderbird 115.8). I expected when running it, to find it in the exact same state because, as what I'm aware of, everything is stored in the profile and nowhere else on the filesystem.

But, I found that: - my favorite folders (around 10) weren't there (well, only 1 of them) - A lot of mails were in "unseen" state (not the unread/read marker, but that star that appears the first time you open a folder for mails that has just been downloaded), where they were already seen

So my concern is about where/how are those values supposed to be stored, and why they don't seem to "migrate" as well? And, may there be some other things that didn't come too?

To all a happy holiday season. It's time for another rousing rendition of an oldie, but goody! "Unable to login in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."! Windows 11 version. So I utilize 3 different gmail account addresses. Accounts 1 & 2 loaded up fine. Account 3 has the exact display name, gmail address, and YES, the correct password. I have checked this on gmail from my windows 11 laptop, and my android email app which used Firefox as the browser to get to Google. Soooo...I know, right, it's been posted and somewhat answered here a zillion times. However it's never straightforward on whether its a corrected reply. NOTHING, and I mean, I've looked in every nook and cranny, uninstalled Tbird, reloaded. Cleared everything, cache, registry, tickets to see Taylor S. Nothing works. Yes, I checked for upgrades. Rebooted. Stepped away from computer, watched Seahawks win win win. Came back to computer. Still...nothing magically changed (you know that sometimes airing-it-out does work). Can anyone help here? Thanks Happy happy!

I am running Thunderbird 115.5.0 on a Win 7 Pro PC (yeah, I know). I recently retired and am trying to change from my work e-mail settings to my personal Gmail account. I have the incoming server set to pop3.gmail.com and the port to 995. Authentication is SSL/TLS and normal password. The outgoing server is set to smtp.gmail.com and authentication is No Authentication, with port 465. When I click on the Get Messages icon Thunderbird doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something else I need to do, or does one of the settings need changing?

Thanks!

I'm using Thunderbird on Linux Mint. The installation is the same one I've had for awhile, with two email accounts in it, one being GMail.

Today I changed my Google password. I expected Thunderbird to prompt me when the old password failed; and it did, except the window it showed me was entirely blank, except for a URL bar at the top which was to Google's domain.

I tried it several times, same result. I closed Thunderbird and restarted. This time the window prompting me about the GMail connection had stuff in it, but it showed a Thunderbird logo and seemed to want me to "log into Thunderbird" or something (not Google). I think I clicked a button to advance through that screen and something else went wrong, IIRC.

I decided to just delete the GMail account and rebuild it from scratch. In "create account"; it succeeds at finding a configuration for GMail, where IMAP is selected over POP3. I press the "Done" button, but a yellow bar becomes displayed:

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsiMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

And it also says "Checking password..." with a spinning hourglass that never resolves.

Any thoughts?

One of my 3 emails is not downloading after not being on computer for 2 months.Other 2 work fine. On settings for that account the syn in the menu is not showing? Shows on the other two. On start up it downloaded messages but they don't show? Several had some malware that my antimalware took care of. Messaged downlload just fine on my phone for that account.

Since 'upgrading' to the Supernova version, I have multiplying problems. I have 3 gmail accounts, all of which I used to be able to access through Tbird. Nice and easy! I use POP, not IMAP. Very soon after loading one of the 115 versions, I lost access to one of my accounts. That was some weeks ago now. I tried deleting the account from Tbird and then re-adding it. I got an error message from Google. I have tried it MANY times with the same result, and so can no longer access it via Tbird. I have needed to access direct online via Chrome and Gmail and copy to one of my other gmail accounts which Tbird DOES read OK. Now a second account is experiencing the same problem. I have not deleted it from Tbird, as I don't want the same fiasco again. BUT, every few minutes, as Tbird checks my emails, I get a login window which I complete – which produces the same Google error message. This means that Tbird no longer accesses THAT email account, either. I now have only one Gmail account that Tbird can access, and I am concerned that that one may also fail. I SHOULD PREFER TO REVERT TO THE TBIRD VERSION WHICH IMMEDIATELY PRECEDED THE FIRST 'SUPERNOVA'. As far as I can see, Supernova is a disaster. There are other minor frustrations with it, which were not there before. I have a LOT of information stored in many folders and sub-folders, which previous Tbird versions handled well. Supernova is still OK with them, but I want to be sure to preserve all that information if I need to delete Tbird in order to revert to an earlier (and therefore reliable!) version.
