Version 72.0.2 - Having a problem for the last couple of weeks with several websites where when a website wants to open a new tab, simply opens a blank page. Other browsers work fine. Any known fixes for this? Any way of completely uninstalling the app so I can reinstall it?

I use a password manager to store log in data and though this data populates, the log in does not move me forward. Rather, I'm given an error message that I have to log in in order to perform transactions, which of course I've just done. It's a circular effect that doesn't resolve. Using FF 72.0.2. When I use Chrome, I can log on easily. What has Firefox done to confound my log in; I think this began to happen following the last FF update.

In late December 2019, I bought new computer and had the Geek Squad at Best Buy transfer all programs and files. In the process they loaded the newest version of Thunderbird and Firefox on the new computer. It is much slower than the old Thunderbird (especially) and now it appears to slowly send outgoing e-mails, but it takes 10 to 20 minutes for the e-mail to get into the SENT file — sometimes it NEVER gets into the SENT file. Is there something that I can do to speed this up?

I've created a new profile and it doesn't help. The site I'm trying to access is secured by a TLS Certificate. I have other things like AdBlock Plus and LastPass installed. I've rearranged the toolbar to my own preferences.

Resetting undoes most of my settings. There is a "TRY AGAIN" button that circumvents the issue. This is very annoying.

ALONE of all the Browsers I have (FIREFOX 72.0.2, CHROME 79.0.3945.130, INTERNET EXPLORER 11.592.18362,0, and EDGE 44.18362.449.0), FireFox fails to access this web-site. Something's wrong with FireFox?

When closing multiple tabs (>2), I receive the "You are about to close x Tabs" warning, which is fine. The problem is that following that warning, an extra, unintended tab closure occurs. i.e. If I close 2 tabs, I get the warning prompt, followed by a 3rd involuntary tab closure.

The gpu usage (more specifically the encoding) has crazy spikes which causes frames to drop (a lot of them).

I'm almost sure this only happens with vp9 and so far I've only seen it happen in 1080p and over (1080p60 etc).

The gpu should be more than able to play these. And in the moments it isn't spiking it's only using like 30 to 40% so it is more than able.

Edit 1: It's really strange because I just watched 4k60 videos and 1080p60 videos in both VP9 and AV and they worked just perfect and then I went to a 1080p24 in VP9 and it skips like hell. And then I went back to the previous video and it gets almost 100% skipped frames at 4k60 when just 5 minutes ago it was playing it fine.

So basically I can't successfully reproduce the problem the same way all the time. Maybe you guys have some tools I can use to do more in-depth testing.

Edit 2: I am now convinced that the problem lies with the iGPU not having enough memory because one common thing that I noticed every time there's skipping is that the vram is pretty much full. At the same time that's strange because the system should then use the system memory as shared memory, right? I checked my BIOS to see if I could increase the iGPU memory but it literally only gives me a single option, which isn't even the correct one since it shows 128MB and I have 256MB, or at least the specs of the laptop, Firefox (about:support) and Windows says so.

I know there's other laptops with this iGPU that can change that so if anyone has one that can test that we would know.

I'm getting many "Undeliverable - returned to sender" incoming emails, clearly spam. The text that it's claimed I sent out and it's claimed couldn't be delivered appears to be the acknowledgement message from the contact form on my website. That is, if someone fills in the contact form on my website, it sends them a "Thank you - I'll be in touch" message. This message I am getting sent to me as as undeliverable.

Clearly, I need to improve the spam protection on my website and I'm looking into that. My question here is, is there any way to get TB to check if it actually HAS send out an email, and so reject the false reports?

Many thanks

Andrew

After loosing access to my server for several days due to spam using all the cpu on my server, I decided to make a few changes to limit that.

It is a debian 10 server with Postfix version 3.4.7.

One of the change I did seems to prevent me from sending mail using Thunderbird. In my /etc/postfix/mail.cf, I added these lines based on the postfix documentation to limit zombie spambot:

smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, sleep 1, reject_unauth_pipelining smtpd_delay_reject = no

I can still receive mail properly with Thunderbird. I am still receiving mail from other mail servers too so this looks like it only affects me sending mail (even to another mail on my own server) using Thunderbird so far. In the mail log, I see this: … postfix/smtpd: connect from unknown[…] … postfix/smtpd: NOQUEUE: reject: CONNECT from unknown[…]: 554 5.7.1 <unknown[…]>: Client host rejected: Access denied; proto=SMTP … postfix/smtpd: disconnect from unknown[…] quit=1 commands=1

Any suggestions on a way to fix this?

If I only put this in /etc/postfix/mail.cf, I can send mail using Thunderbird but this is removing the zombie spambot protection: smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated

As said in the title. I want the link in a new tab. I do not want to select the link text. I long press to try and open the context menu on the link, but Firefox selects the link text instead.

With old Firefox for Android, I can just zoom in slightly, and suddenly it's easy. New Firefox Preview doesn't do pinch to zoom everywhere, so I can't work around the issue in that way.

So how can I consistently open links in a new tab? I don't want to be fumbling around trying to *not* select the link text every time. And opening links in new tabs is my second most common UI interaction, below 'scroll' but above 'search/enter url in new tab' and 'close tab'.

When I launch Thunderbird it comes up quickly but only half way and is non-responsive. I close it down and relaunch it. After much grinding it comes up completely and fully functional. This does not seem right. So I went in and erased emails thinking it was just choking on too many emails. Didn't help. I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. Didn't help. What should I do next?

Pretty odd thing. My inbox is fine, no messages are missing. It is usually open but often I will look at it and no messages are visible. If I click on a subfolder and then back on the Inbox they become visible again. It's a gmail account and has a lot of messages, is there a limit of what I should have? Only thing I can think of as this is fairly recent - last 6 weeks or so. Use it at work also (same account) but don't have the same problem there.

Most of the time but not all of the time Firefox appears to be missing all menus, but it seems that it has actually just nulled all the strings. The image shows the problem. This seems to be the case 100% if I click a link from email. Starting a new window does show the menu. I've tried the reset menu procedures I have found with no effect.

This is MacOS Catalina. I don't recall this happening prior to upgrading to Catalina.
