I have posted this in two forums, not knowing which will get me the answer.

I have an account with optimum.net I no longer receive Thunderbird emails since 9-02-24 about 10 AM EST. I talked to the "Head" tech at Optimum and he constantly assured me that the problem was with Thunderbird, not Optimum. I do not receive emails from optimum (suddenlink, net) or yahoo.com.

But I can send email, through Thunderbird to each. I have to look on the web to see the emails, since Tbird does not receive.

I have changed no passwords.

I think that Bird only uses the server on suddenlink, my primary ISP The head tech at optimum says it it not there problem.

Could someone tell me the answer?

Hi, wondering how can I change a setting so I don't have the whole history of my email communication with an individual running along the top of the screen. It also means I get the oldest email in a chain from that person in my inbox.

The profile manager goes out of it's way to provide all possible options *except* the one that's needed most:

How to simply "switch" from one profile to another profile?

When a new Thunderbird installation is created, all profile operations are limited to the profiles created when Thunderbird is installed. Other profiles that are available in the right location under Users\---\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\* are simply ignored without any possible, or at least obvious, route to switch to them and / or activate them. Why?

This issue is a real problem when attempting to migrate existing Thunderbird settings, mail data, etc., from one physical workstation to another. Fortunately I found a fix by grabbing the mail\pop_account folder under the old profile and plugging that folder into the new profile. Still there was additional aggravation associated with lost settings, another import / export for the calender, etc., etc.

Again, why does this have to be difficult?

Hello, During a recent software update not long ago, I lost my entire Spell Check ability and Dictionary's won't even load anymore. I figure I need to delete the program and reload, but I'm afraid of losing all my folders that have been created over the years of using Thunderbird Mail.

Could someone please explain the procedures for me to delete and reload without losing all my important folders. These folders have years of important emails stored in them.

Thanks a bunch!!

hi, I just changes hosting, but saw after setting things up, (click settings - account settings - changed server name) that the account looked brand new, empty, no subfolders with sorted messages.

is this because I'd lazily set up imap on my old hosting instead of pop3? I know thunderbird has local copies of everything though, right? because I could see emails still while I was offline.

can I get my old emails back?

Since a recent TB update in August, the program now downloads previously-deleted messages from Gmail. TB downloads from the In folder (OKI), but also current messages that I sent to Trash folder (not OK).

Example: 50 new messages appear in the Gmail In folder. I delete 30 messages from the In folder, and they correctly move to the Trash folder, leaving 20 in the In folder.

I next launch TB on my Win10 PC and press F5 to begin the download. Until recently, I would get the remaining 20 messages and ONLY the 20. Now, TB downloads all 50, as if 30 were never deleted.

NOTE: I changed no settings at either end.'

If I go into the Trash folder before downloading and delete today's trash, those messages are totally gone and won't download. But this was never necessary a few weeks ago.

If any reader had and fixed this annoying problem, please tell me how you did it.

Nice to see you folks doing stuff like Appointment - but more than any NEW stuff, PLEASE give so many of us the lost ability to manually reorder folders like we had before version 115. That is really a loss that should be addressed. I am ready to make a significant donation if you take this real need seriously!

Have configured Thunderbird server settings with the OAuth2 authentication. However, still unable to receive or send emails. Error message: "smtp.fontier.server does not recognize authentication method; change authentication method in settings." I believe I have made the suggested changes, but Thunderbird email still not working. I would like to visit via phone with a Thunderbird rep as the Support page has not given me any solutions. Please let me know if I can call and visit. Emailing me won't work.

I have Thunderbird set up so that new messages are opened in a separate pop-up window. When I read one and delete it, T-Bird automatically opens the next OLDER message in that window. I would want for either the next NEWER message or not open another message at all and just go back to the Message List. How do I do that? There does not appear to be an option in Settings. My T-Bird version is 128.1.1esr

Hi,

Is there a way to make collections of folders? I have multiple account and I would like to make collections of inboxes so I can see everything at a glance.

For example, I could have one collection called "Clients" for… well, clients, another one for "Personal," another for "Marketing," etc. Then I would like to be able to group certain inboxes under a specific collection.

It's a bit like unified folders, but multiple unified folders instead of one that groups all inboxes.

Thanks,

L

NO flltering system is perfect, so a real live human bean needs to check what Gmail and/or Thunderbird has classified as Spam and retrieve the few valid messages. But unless Thunderbird displays NUMBER of messages waiting there, I'm not reminded to check. Is there some parameter I need to set to make it do that?

Thanks for help.
