Hey there, I was using one of my macs today and it suddenly started updating. It was taking ages and seemingly stalled, so I closed the app.

Now, all our bookmarks and history is gone. Also, the now updated version is not showing my new history etc.

Is there any way to retrieve our original bookmarks, history and passwords?

I am running Windows 7 (and will not downgrade to one of the newer versions). Firefox has stopped supporting Windows 7 with version 115, which I am currently running. However, I get a pop-up message each time I launch Firefox asking if I want to download the latest version (which cannot be installed).

Is there some way to stop this annoying message from appearing?

Native Firefox app. for AndroidTV

Dear All.

These days, I was looking at my desktop computers, and I noticed how old I was. I am 65 years old, my computers are at least 5 years old, and I am a Linux user from the beginning. When the Xwindows system was so heavy for the cpus of those times, that there was no future for a Linux with Windows ... No way, to compete with Microsoft Windows!

But I am young spirited, so I am replacing now my desktop computers, both Linux and Windows with the "AndroidPC" box.

Why? Because nowadays we live with the Apps for every task. There are millions of them, for every possible use, and they are evolving daily. So I have to keep up to date, not easy! And it is also very practical, to use the "TV" also as "PC". And for us, the elder, when the eyesight starts failing, to have a big HDMI screen with big letters to work. I also use the same Apps. in my smartphone ansd tablet.

What is the Android PC? it is the certified (Google Play Store) AndroidTV box, you can get for 50 USD or less, quad core, 4Gb + 64GB. A bargain! I am waiting now that the octa core, 8Gb + 128Gb gets cheaper ....

There are a couple of native Apps for it. Most of the Apps are working, by sideloading them from Google.

Let see how it develops. Anyway, I am happy with the results! I am working on a daily basis with it. Almost all the internet browsers work, I had to take an older Brave version. The Google infrastructure and Google programms work fine. No time for now, to test the Microsoft infrastructure in the AndroidTV enviroment. I can move around my 10TB (5 x 2TB NTFS hdds) movie collection. FTP works. I still have problems, with the Xmeye cloud based software for the security cameras, it is not full screen. And it really uses almost no power, the box is not warm, no fan required!

Comparing with the beginning of Linux, with not enough cpu power. For this "dream", Google requires only to implement slight changes, to their multiple concurrent software platform development. I hope, it will merge alone, the "AndroidPC".

So I would be very thankfull to the programmers, if they could include a native Firefox Browser for the AndroidTV box!

Thanks

Hello,

after porting my SSD Arch installation from my old Laptop to a desktop PC, i have a really long startup time (about 30s-45s) for the first time after booting my PC. This problem doesn't occur with any other programs. The subsequent openings of firefox happen instant.

Have tried using "refresh" functionality to clean up firefox so my about:config is as clean as it gets, didn't help. Have tried starting it with "firefox --no-remote", didn't help. Have tried starting it with "firefox --safe-mode", didn't help. Have tried starting it with a completely fresh profile, didn't help. Tried purging it from the system and reinstalling it, didn't help. Same problem when I start it normally via dmenu/rofi.

I don't get any stdout log on any of these methods of starting.

I also don't know where to look for helpful log files.

Any help or hints on where to trace this fault are much appreciated.

Have a nice day :)

When using Firefox browsing, every so often, on the left hand margin of the active window, a half of a black dot protrudes, about half way down the window, and then pulls back to disappear. The whole episode lasts about a second.

Certainly not a big deal. I am just curious as to why that happens. I have also noticed it on the right hand side. I don't know, either, if they happen at the same time.

Thank you for your help.

i've tried toggling media.hardwaremediakeys off and pressing the media keys to no avail, they don't seem to have any effect when it's enabled or disabled. the keys work on other applications like VLC media player, though! and I can see that the media is being detected from firefox, too, as it appears in media player widgets i have on my plasma desktop. it seems to be only the physical keys that aren't working, because i can press buttons on the widgets to control media playing in firefox.

Every time I open a video and Firefox the stupid media control opens on my phone and plays the video or music or whatever I clicked on in the background for eternity unless I pause it, but then after a few minutes it just starts playing on its own again. Why is there no option to disable or close the stupid player?

I close Firefox I end the process but yet the stupid sound keeps coming out of my phone even with the screen off all the apps closed.

The only option I have is to hide the media control which then plays the music with absolutely no way for me to stop it. If I click on settings from that window it brings me to a screen where both options are already disabled saying not to use it but it's still opening anyways.

I can only find remedies for Windows or Mac I have not come across any solution for Android. I basically have to restart my phone every time this happens in order to get it to stop.

Someone interfered with my work, their bookmarks are getting synced to mine and having difficulties

Hello moz://a,

I trust that this finds you in good faith,

My name is Kyle Santowski, I got dismissed from work in December and started focusing my attention on computers and the understanding thereof. I purchased the domain heartofstoneclothing.com using my Samsung A21s and my credit card.

I was visiting a friend at the time who offered the use of his computer to me as a kind gesture. I have been residing on the friends property since January and have been using that device up until recently. With my provident fund I purchased a laptop and have been using it since to recover most of my work.

My work got intercepted the day ICANN's 60 day holding period was over, since it wasn't my computer I had no say over it. In South Africa we have a problem with consistent power outages known as load shedding, long story short; I woke up from an extended nap to watch my work get taken and redirected.

I have had major 4 major confrontations with my friend, Gary, whether or not he was snooping through my files. Ive been lied to in my face 4 times, been sworn at, had pots and pans thrown at me for falsely accusing him. I let it go due to alternate accommodation difficulties. At the risk of losing my work completely I have allowed friend to run around the part my browser he gained access to. I might have unknowingly given it up, or at least part of it since it was not my computer.

In these altercations I have been chased away, but i could not leave my work on that computer. Not having access to an external hard drive and no time I mass dumped everything anywhere i could find space; My OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox. At the time i had just came across MDN after working on Firefox for the first time and exploring its glories.

I have bookmarks that don't belong to me in my bookmarks toolbar, there is personal information that is not mine getting sent to me and I have had to manage this person and his websites while sacrificing my own. I'm not entirely sure how to separate our work without, because the bookmarks i delete reappear every time and I no longer wish to use the old device.

I herewith kindly ask that i could receive some assistance with the issue, this situation has messed my brain up for months and I finally have an understanding of what i need to do, but I am quite new to working with software and can't afford to let it go askew.

I have a 'site' that is just files on my hard drive.

I need to click an anchor link such as: Store Your Files Here and have Firefox open the folder dir4 with the systems file manager. ( In my case the file manager is Nautilus ) ( Ubuntu 20.04 )

I have seen this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_do_not_work but it does not describe a scenario that uses the file:/// interface.

It also does not provide any information about how the files will be handled.

I can get the folder link to work currently , but it appears with the: 'Index of file///...' in a browser tab.

Obviously you can not use that for anything useful.

The main goal is to open the folder and be able to use the system file manager to include more content for the site without having to navigate to the folder manually. The folders I want to display are buried many levels down without the possibility of having descriptive names. I have ~121 pages/folders in this arrangement , and each one has content for each page. I would like to add a button on each of the 121 pages that will open each of the pages content folder.

In the last days it often occured that a website that I try to open in Firefox is pending (showing the waiting symbol, see attached image). If I open another tab to access another web site the same thing happens. If I then open the Edge-Browser to see whether it is a problem of Firefox, just in this moment, the websites in Firefox suddnely all appear!

This is not a coincidence. I observed it around 20 times and played around with the time waiting until I opened the Edge browser. I observed it with several kinds of websites (static to web app).

I don't suspect Windows to annoy Firefox, or should I?

I'm developing a PHP Symfony based website powered by nginx-full 1.18.0-6ubuntu14.4, one of the functions is to allow people to download a PDF invoice.

When it fails Firefox shows an alert "Downloading (Failed) The browser application closed unexpectedly."

On my linux desktop; when I use Chromium 114.0.5735.198 this functions works 100% of the time. when I use Firefox 114.0.2 (64-bit) the PDF download only works ONCE after that the download never completes and I'm left with a partial/corrupted 75.7KiB file named filename.Br-neZWO.pdf.part etc.

I have discovered that if I clear the firefox cache I can perform one successful download again. or I can restart Nginx and again Firefox will perform one successful download again.

I've tried altering many Nginx settings, cache, gzip, sendfile etc with no effect. It might be Nginx related but it does not effect Chrome at all which is why I've started this ticket.

Any help in debugging this would be greatly appreciated.
