How do I know Firefox Sync is working? I click the "sync now" menu option but don't see anything in my status bar or a pop-up when done syncing.

Second question, does Sync work with app tabs? I'm not seeing them come across from one laptop to another.

Hello ? No answers? It is extremely disappointing that there is NO way to know that the sync has finished. How stupid is that? Somewhere, it is said that "it takes about 30 minutes" or even more, depending on size of things... Well, how do we know when can we just close Firefox and/or switch OFF our computer if we don't know when the darn thing is done doing the sync?

This is a very lousy job, mozilla devs: and the more disgusting, frustrating and unbelievable thing is, that you have done it exactly with all the intention, and you really sell it like something actually "good". Again: how do I know when I can close FF or shutdown the PC? Or are you so ignorant to think that people have FF open or the PC on permanently?

  • How do I know Firefox Sync is working?
  1. Type about:config in the location bar.
  2. Promise.
  3. In the Filter field, type: services.sync.log.appender.debugLog.enabled
  4. Double-click on the pref to set its value to true.
  5. Restart Firefox to apply the preference.
  6. Type about:sync-log in the location bar of a tab. You'll see the Sync log.

When you want to close Firefox, click Sync Now, reload the about:sync-log page, and search the last occurrence of Sync completed successfully at to know the last time your computer was synced.

You can access your tabs whatever their pinned status by typing about:sync-tabs in the location bar or by selecting Tabs From Other Computers in the List All Tabs button at the far right of the location bar.
