Firefox 4 Beta 11 won't save my tabs when I quit. I already checked all the stuff in about:config and everything that should be true, is true.

I looked into why FF 4 B11 won't save my tabs like FF 3 did. I just upgraded from 3.6 to 4 beta.

Saving my tabs and keeping sessions was one of my favorite things about Firefox.

As I already mentioned, I looked at the about:config stuff and everything that should be true, is true. I just don't understand why it isn't working.

How can I get that feature back?

Thanks.

Could someone help with this problem? The above mentioned link was of no help and not really even related to 4 Beta. Another thing I noticed was that when exiting with multiple tabs open, FF won't even give me a warning like it used to before, EVEN with the warning option selected in the OPTIONS menu.

I've had this issue (or similar) several times, in FF3.6 and also 3.5 and 3.0. All the typical suggestions were no help; deleting the session, checking tabs options and about:config, private browse settings, and un-/re-installing FF. I forgot now if the specific issue was that the 'Save and Quit' dialog doesn't popup; or if it does, but 'Save and Quit' would not save the tabs for the next session. Anyway, hopefully this will help some of you.

The thing that fixed my issue (and this has occurred several times), I found in a couple obscure google searches. Instead of using the upper-right-corner 'X' to close the window; instead go to File (alt-F if you have your menu hidden) -> 'Exit'. Sounds ridiculous, I know; seems like it was related to upgrading b/t major versions (and I've seen a bunch of these posts popup relating to FF4 upgrades now). I've only done fresh installs of FF4 beta, and not seen the issue. Looks like FF4 has added a new config option: browser.showQuitWarning, that would be something else to check.

I thought I'd sent in a mozilla bug report on it, along w/ replying to a few support forum entries, but now I can't find anything relating to it.

To summarize the various things to check with this issue:

1. Check the Options -> Tabs for 'Warn me when closing multiple tab'

2. Check about:config for the above and similar entries (search for 'warn' and 'quit')

3. Check the Options -> Privacy that Private Browsing isn't enabled (or just select 'Remember History' [note-I think this selection doesn't stay; it just changes the underlying options; can be confusing]

4. Simply go to File -> Exit, instead of the upper-right corner 'X' to close

5. Un-/Re-install FF

6. Delete your sessions file [search elsewhere for details]

I'll be copying this to other forum entries...

I upgraded from Firefox 3.6.14 to Firefox 4 Beta 12 and got the same problem of no "Save" option for my loads of tabs when I exited.

ALSO MY FEEDBACK BUTTON HAD DISAPPEARED at the same time as the save option disappeared.

So here is my feedback. LOL.

I love Firefox. Please fix the issue. In the meantime I'm using 3.6.15 (got upgraded when I went back to FF3).

taken from mozilla support page, this one immediately works

1.Type "about:config" into the location bar/url bar and press enter (without the " ") 2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences 3. Locate the preference browser.showQuitWarning, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true

Warn me when closing multiple tabs (in option) is BROKEN in FF4 RC. I've tried checking and un-checking this option. There is no effect at all.

Only about:config and set.. browser.showQuitWarning; to true is working.

Yeah that doesn't work at all, set it to true and just closes no warning at all. This just happened in FF4 RC was working till today.

Quite honestly I'm really sick of this issue, it came up in 3.6 on one of my computers could never fix it after it appeared and the people at Mozilla apparantly don't give a damn because now it's back in 4.0

You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

Also make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Browsing History"

Here's what I did to save my tabs- Under the Firefox drop down menu, select "Options" From the Options drop down menu, click on "Options" Under the "General" tab, you'll see "Startup" The default is set to "Show my home page" (I think). Click on the drop down menu of startup options and select "Show my windows and tabs from last time" Click "Ok" at the bottom.

Hope this helps!

I use W-Vista HP SP-2. I know this is a bit of a hassle-- and no, it shouldn't have to come to this--but for those of you who find threebysea's suggestion (poster immed. above this) and that following the above instructions in about:config didn't resolve the problem (like me at first): Do both of these again, and after you click-out the about:config tab, close out FFox and any other open programs, and then go to the main download page for Mozilla, download and install the newest edition of Four. You'll have to reboot your PC as usual, at the end. FFox will remember all your settings and passwords, etc. Everything appeared back to normal for me after this. Finally.
