Internal failure when updating

I am running Firefox 4.0 Beta 6. It tells me there's an update for Beta 10 every few days. It tries to do it and says there's an internal failure. Firefox beta 6 finally opens like it was a fresh install, so my Download Statusbar add-on shows it's welcome screen, my Google settings are not set and I have to login and set them up again.

So, I go to the website to download and there is no beta 10.. the download link's file says beta 6.

By the way, I forgot to mention when that failure comes up no web pages will load. I have to close Firefox beta 6, wait a few seconds, reopen and then it'll work fine.

A few days later though it'll come up again to update to beta 10 with the same error.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
