First Firefox was working, but now every time I try to open it I get this message:

Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at en-us.start3.mozilla.com.

   * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
   * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
   * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

If you were using Firefox 3.6.6 or newer, a new preference was added to the Connection Settings proxy preferences in Tools > Options > Advanced >> Network tab - Connection = Settings = Use system proxy settings

The default setting is for Use system proxy settings

If you select No proxy and restart Firefox your problem should be fixed.
