Vuze throwing ERROR: socket Selector.open()
Hi,
I get the following error while use Vuze when connected using Mozilla VPN.
ERROR: socket Selector.open() failed 10 times in a row, aborting. Azureus / Java is likely being firewalled!
However, there is no issue if I use another VPN (currently ExpressVPN) and it is perfectly working fine.
So I don't think there any firewall in my antivirus or something.
Any suggestions how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
thank you for posting on the forum.
It can still happen that you need to allow certain applications through the firewall regardless if another VPN is working.
Try this: In Vuze go to tools -> Options -> Mode and select 'Advanced' under 'User Proficiency. ' Then go to Connection -> Advanced Network Settings and look through the list for your VPN connection.
Hi, Thanks for the response.
Under Advanced Network settings, I could NOT see "Mozilla VPN" in the list. I could see expressVPN though. What should I do to bind mozilla VPN with vuze?
Thanks
Hi there,
thanks for getting back to us. I have had a look at the support site of Vuze, as there is no setting from our side that can be changed if the application gets blocked I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you are unable to download files via Vuze, first disable your VPN, then reset your torrent client from Tools -> Options -> Mode -> Reset configuration to default values. Finally, close Vuze, launch your VPN connection, and restart Vuze.
Hi,
Thanks for your time. I tried your suggestions as it is. But it is still not working. May be Mozilla VPN is not for me. :-(
Thanks
Hi again,
I am really sorry that I could not be of more help! Due to your error code I am still thinking that it has something to do with the Firewall and it is being blocked through that service. There may be an issue where Mozilla VPN is conflicting with other applications on your device.
- Windows Firewall - Follow the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-windows-firewall-allow-firefox-access - An Anti-virus/Firewall could potentially block the Mozilla VPN Executable. You can add an exception for mozillavpn.exe to your antivirus which should resolve any blockers. You would need to refer to your antivirus instructions to do this.
