Q: How do I check for suspicious access if VPN is used

I am trying to understand whether it is useful to use VPN.

I have 2 concerns: 1. Apps like Facebook, can show me where I am logged in. So if I see a log in in another province/country than where I am staying - then I know something is VERY wrong. Now if I use VPN - how do I now know which log in is me, or which log in seems suspicious - especially when I am working on a business account, where other users also use the same account to access the app, or I am using devices in different locations to log in (access the account/app from a device in our office in one city, as well as on a device in our office in another?) 2. I had a HUGE fall-out with Hootsuite, as I was using VPN (norton/MS) and they quoted a specific price on which I then bought the contract - but when the account came, they charged me more - stating that I "hid/lied" about where I am staying and the price I saw was US-specific. (I entered the correct address details when I registered.) So is VPN more secure if I then dont know which app log is me and if businesses like Hootsuite is going to provide me with incorrect prices on their sites - as they think I am in the "specific" country?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out!

When you use Mozilla VPN , you will be able to choose a server location from our drop down list. So you will know what location you are currently browsing from and be able to differentiate suspicious activity on Facebook. Once you have turned on your VPN and are connected to the encrypted server location, you can always go ahead and check out iplocation.net - it will show you the location and IP address you are currently browsing from.

We can´t vouch for any prices or policies of 3rd party websites and providers. If you are choosing a specific location to browse from, it will ultimately show you the search results (and prices related) to that location. I do understand that some websites may have certain prices based on your location, so will ultimately charge you based on your real location. Unfortunately that is something we can´t change from our side, but it´s expected, so a good thing to remember when browsing from a completely different server location.

I hope the above helps! Regards, Mags
