Can't auto sync despite reading articles.

I have tried to auto sync for a while now, on android all that comes up is 'Sync is set up, but not syncronisong. Toggle "Auto-sync data" in the menu of Android Settings > Accounts'. I believe that I'm in that section but I can't see it. Any suggestions?
