The Site Information panel, also called the Control Center, opens when you click the button in the address bar. This is where you can manage security and privacy settings for a website in one place. Use the Control Center to view information about a site and to make choices about site permissions, trackers or insecure content.
The Site Information panel opens when you click the padlock in the address bar. (On secure connection error and certificate warning pages, you'll see an "i" icon instead of a padlock.) This is where you can view information about connection security and site identity and make choices about any site permissions you have allowed or blocked.
Connection security
When you visit a website, a lock icon in the address bar will generally indicate that the connection to the site is fully secure. For more information about the connection's security, click the buttonpadlock to open the Site Information panel. The top section of the panel shows you whether the current connection is classified as secure.
To learn about the issuer of a certificate for a secure connection and – if it is made available – the website's owner, or to disable the blocking of insecure content on a site, click the right arrow in the panel.
See How do I tell if my connection to a website is secure? to learn more about connection security. The Mixed content blocking in Firefox article tells you about Firefox's content blocking security feature.
Tracking protection
When Tracking Protection is enabled, the Control Center indicates whether or not a page contains elements that track you, in addition to information about your connection. Firefox’s Tracking Protection feature will automatically block these trackers and the Control Center allows you to disable the feature, if needed.
- No trackers detected
- Trackers detected (with option to disable Tracking Protection)
See the What happened to Tracking Protection? article to learn more about these controls.
Content Blocking
When the Content Blocking feature is enabled, the Control Center indicates whether or not a page contains elements that track you, in addition to information about your connection. Firefox’s Content Blocking feature detects and automatically blocks known trackers. The Control Center allows you to disable the feature, if needed.
- No trackers detected
- Trackers detected (with option to disable)
See the Content blocking article to learn more about these controls.
Permissions
The Permissions section of the Site Information panel will display any special permissions you've granted to the website in the past and lets you adjust them on the spot.
To edit any other permission for a site, click the right arrow in the panel and then click the Page Info window, which contains a comprehensive permissions section.
